Please pray about my job: it has so much potential but the company (which is a large, nationally known one) is VERY poorly run. My heart breaks for us employees but more for the customers because they're having a terrible, terrible time. My job is a leader (if not THE leader) in their industry and I can't believe they've been able to get away with the things they do to customers for so long. My coworkers and I have to deal with so many angry customers who are understandably upset. Pray for them and their individual situations and concerns and also about this company as a whole. May He raise up leaders who will act with integrity, fairness, and a heart for service, as Scripture calls us to in Micah 6:8: "He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"
We also lift up the customers who are being mistreated. Their anger and frustration are understandable, and we pray that God would comfort them in their struggles. May He provide them with resolution, peace, and even unexpected blessings in the midst of their difficulties. We pray that they would encounter kindness and grace, even in this challenging situation, and that their faith in humanity, and in God, would not be shaken.
For you and your coworkers, we pray for endurance, wisdom, and protection. The stress of dealing with angry customers and a dysfunctional system can take a toll on your hearts and minds. We ask that God would strengthen you, give you patience, and fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). May He grant you favor in your work, open doors for better opportunities if that is His will, and help you to be a light in this dark place. The grief you feel is a holy grief, but take care lest it become a snare. When you see a company so poorly managed that its customers suffer and its employees carry the weight of their anger, it is right to mourn the injustice, for the tears of the wronged cry out. Yet what the soul does with such sorrow determines whether it becomes a wound that festers or a discipline that heals.
I hear your heart breaking for those customers, and that compassion is a spark of the love that is not puffed up. That love, the Apostle says, is a great teacher, able to withdraw men from error and out of stones make men. But this same love must also teach you to suffer long, even when you see wickedness prospering for a season. Do not be deceived: the company's prosperity, built on ill treatment of others, is no sign of blessing but a fearful storing up of wrath. Those who receive their good things now will undergo the greater punishment, unless they repent. So pray for them, pray that their eyes be opened before that day. But your peace cannot depend on their reformation; it must be rooted in something far more stable.
The furious complaints you bear each day, these are like sparks falling into a deep sea. If the soul is deep with long-suffering, they are quenched instantly and do no harm. Nothing, not armies nor wealth nor walls, is so impenetrable as a patient spirit. This is your calling: not merely to survive the flood of angry words, but to let them die upon the rock of a meek and quiet heart. When you are reviled for things you did not cause, and you do not revile again, you are in that hour a companion of the saints, sharing in the reproach of Christ who suffered outside the gate. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and by His stripes we are healed. So then the work of salvation is not in doing evil but in suffering evil with grace. Think it not strange; this light affliction is working for you a weight of glory.
But be warned: there is a false consolation that seeks comfort in numbers, as if sharing groans with coworkers makes the burden lighter. That is a dangerous fellowship, the comfort of those who perish together. Hell itself is filled with such, wailing in company and finding no relief. Let your only consolation be in repentance and in walking the path that leads to heaven. The soul that is truly comforted looks to Christ, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross. He is the Captain of salvation made perfect through sufferings, and He knows your toil. When your patience is exhausted, remember that what is impossible with men is possible with God. He can transform the very stones, the hearts of stone in that company, if He wills. And if not, He will sustain you to bear witness through it all.
Therefore, go forth to your labor as one who carries the cross. Weep for the customers, yes, and pray for their deliverance. Groan over the injustice, but do not let it sour into resentment. In meekness, answer the angry, knowing that perhaps God may grant them repentance. For your part, be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Give your coat to the one who would sue you, so to speak; meet unreasonable demands with a patience that confounds. That is the long-suffering which is of great price in the sight of God. Let the company's disorder become for you a rugged school of holiness, where your faith shines brighter against the darkness. Stand firm, and the peace of Christ will guard your heart, until the day when all wrongs are righted and every tear is wiped away.
