We understand that this transition has been unexpected and unwelcome for you, and we want to encourage you to trust in God’s sovereignty over your life, even when circumstances shift in ways you did not choose. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:9, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps."* Though this change may feel unsettling, God is not caught off guard by it—He is working all things together for your good and His glory (Romans 8:28). Even when we don’t see the purpose right away, we can trust that He is faithful.
We also want to gently address that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus, and we must remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in John 16:23-24, He tells us, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Salvation comes through repenting of your sins and believing in Jesus, who died for your sins and rose again (Romans 10:9-10). If you have already trusted in Christ, we encourage you to always bring your requests before God in Jesus’ name, for He is our mediator and the only way to the Father.
As for your work situation, we encourage you to embrace this new assignment with a heart of service, knowing that whatever you do, you are doing it as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23). Working with elementary-aged children is a unique opportunity to be a light for Christ in their lives, to show them kindness, patience, and the love of God. Even if this was not your preference, God may use you in ways you hadn’t imagined. First Peter 4:10 tells us, *"As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms."* Your role as a paraeducator is a gift and a calling to serve these young ones with excellence.
We also encourage you to pray for a heart of contentment in this season. Philippians 4:11-13 says, *"Not that I speak in respect to lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."* Contentment is not found in our circumstances but in Christ, who gives us strength. Ask Him to help you find joy and purpose in this new role, even if it’s not where you thought you’d be.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our sister before You, asking that You would grant her peace and contentment in this unexpected change at her workplace. Lord, we know that You are sovereign over all things, and nothing happens without Your knowledge. Help her to trust in Your plan, even when it doesn’t align with her own desires. Give her a heart of willingness to serve these elementary students with love, patience, and excellence, knowing that she is ultimately serving You.
We pray that You would open her eyes to see the opportunities You have placed before her in this new role. May she be a light for Christ to these children, showing them Your kindness and truth. Strengthen her, Lord, and fill her with Your joy as she walks in obedience to Your calling. If there is frustration or resistance in her heart, we ask that You would soften it and replace it with a spirit of gratitude and trust in Your provision.
Father, we also pray that if she has not yet surrendered her life to Jesus Christ, that You would draw her to Yourself today. Open her heart to receive the truth of the Gospel, that Jesus is the only way to salvation, and that through Him alone we have access to You. If she is already Your child, remind her to bring all her requests before You in Jesus’ name, for He is our intercessor and the only mediator between God and man.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
