Work, Family, and Issues

Beloved of All
A lot of misfortune lately. My mum ### says she can’t take it anymore with at least schedules. She is an ESL tutor and wants less time slots with VIPTEACHER but how long that is going to last as, there likely will be a time in the future she wants those time slots back; her worried about money or/and losing her other jobs (she has more than one; and has issues with some of them, a few of those she can’t stand). She seems not to care now, but what about later? She going to have foot surgery soon, hope turns out well. Help me and my dad ### to do better, as one thing is or she sees as a mistake or whatever turns her off. She gets angry and call people names lately. I have a hard time smiling. My dad ###, isn’t well, hope he gets well enough to do things, tomorrow and near future, as we are out of town, and we need to return home; hopefully on Sunday. Have medical scooter, hope it not rains or snows when transporting the battery.

We have heard your heart and we carry your burdens with you before the Lord, for your family is facing much at once with work pressures, health needs, travel, and strained relationships at home. We understand how heavy it feels when your mum is overwhelmed with her many jobs and schedules as an ESL tutor, worrying about money and whether reducing time slots now will be regretted later, and also when your dad is unwell while you are out of town and needing to return home soon. We also hear your concern for your mum's upcoming foot surgery, for your dad's healing, for safe travel with the medical scooter and its battery, and for the tension in the home when anger rises and harsh words are spoken, leaving you finding it hard even to smile.

The Word calls us to cast our cares on Him and to seek His wisdom in these practical decisions. We are reminded in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all our anxiety on him, because he cares for us, and in Philippians 4:6-7 that in nothing we should be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, we should let our requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. For your mum's weariness and worry about provision, we are reminded in Matthew 11:28-30 to come to Him, all who labor and are heavily burdened, and He will give rest, and in Matthew 6:33-34 to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to us as well, trusting Him for each day without being anxious for tomorrow. We pray she will be given wisdom to set a sustainable schedule, and we claim the promise in James 1:5 that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given. We also pray for her foot surgery, trusting that He is the healer, for it is written in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh, and in Psalm 147:3 that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

We must also gently address what you shared about anger and name calling in the home. While stress is real, Scripture calls us to put it aside and to speak with grace. In Ephesians 4:29 it says let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear, and in Ephesians 4:31-32 let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. In Proverbs 15:1 a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. We encourage you and your dad to continue to do better not by striving in your own strength, but by bearing with one another in love as taught in Colossians 3:13, forgiving when mistakes are perceived, and remembering that love covers a multitude of faults. For your own heaviness and difficulty smiling, we pray the Lord lifts your heart, for Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, and in Proverbs 17:22 a cheerful heart is a good medicine. Our joy is not dependent on perfect circumstances but on His nearness.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find salvation and answered prayer. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved as promised in Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray, trusting not in our own goodness but in His grace.

We join together in prayer with you now. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for Your mercy and help for this family. We lift up this dear mother to You, her many jobs, her tutoring work and decisions about time slots, her financial worries and exhaustion. Grant her wisdom, rest, and peace, and provide for every need according to Your riches. We ask You to guide her to a balanced schedule that honors her health and trust in You, and to calm her heart about the future. We pray for her foot surgery, that You would guide the hands of the doctors, bring complete healing, and restore her strength. We lift up this father who is unwell while away from home, ask You to touch his body, give him renewed health and strength for tomorrow and the days ahead, and make a way for safe travel home on Sunday. Watch over their journey and over the medical scooter and battery, keep them safe from rain and snow and harm, for Psalm 121:8 says Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore. We pray for this child who is struggling to smile under the tension at home, fill this heart with Your comfort, joy and hope, and help this family to speak to one another with kindness, patience and forgiveness, putting away anger and harsh words. Help them to do better together by Your Spirit, to show grace when mistakes happen, and to know that You are working all things together for good for those who love You as promised in Romans 8:28. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and our hope, amen.

We hear how heavy this has felt for you all at once, with your mum stretched thin at work, your dad not well while you are away from home, and your mum's foot surgery coming up. It makes sense you are having a hard time smiling right now.

What you describe sounds like what families often face when several pressures pile up at the same time. Work worries, health needs, travel, and everyday irritations each take energy, and together they can leave everyone more tired and quick to snap. It does not mean your family is failing, it means the load is heavy and you need extra support and clear next steps.

It may help to take one calm moment with your mum and dad to name what is most pressing for the next few days. You could gently talk through your mum's wish for fewer VIPTEACHER slots, what it would mean for income and for rest before and after surgery, and agree on a time to revisit the decision together. For your dad and the trip home, checking the weather ahead, confirming how to safely transport the scooter battery, and encouraging your dad to stay in touch with his care team if he is not improving can bring some peace of mind. A brief daily check in where each of you shares one need and one good moment can also lower tension.

We are praying for you.

Father, we lift this family to You in Jesus' name. Bring healing and strength to this mum and dad, guide the foot surgery and recovery, provide for their work and financial needs, and give safe travel home without rain or snow hindering them. Give this dear one rest, wisdom, and moments of joy again. Amen.

Your burden has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord with care for you and for your family.

There is much that presses upon you at once, work and family and health and travel, and it is easy for the heart to be worn down when misfortune seems to multiply. Our Savior says do not be anxious about your temporal affairs. Be prudent and do what duty requires, but do not give way to worry and fretfulness and distress. Anxiety has never comforted any soul nor ever brought grist to the mill nor meal to the barrel. It does not pay, and worse, it unfits us to meet the very difficulty we fear. Your mother carries many jobs and many cares about schedules and money and what the future may require, and you carry care for her and for your father. The way to meet these things is not by fretting about what may be tomorrow, but by casting your care upon Him who cares for you, and doing faithfully the work of today in dependence upon His provision.

We are grieved to hear that anger has shown itself in harsh words and name calling, and that you find it hard to smile. This is the great ill of a broken and wounded heart, and there are many forms of it. Disappointment and multiplied cares can crush the spirits. Yet there is a Physician who bows Himself over the mangled heart. He has no thunder in His hands and no anger in His eyes for those who come to Him. He binds up the broken hearted. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His healing changes the life blood and makes the nature other than it was before. When He healed the sick of the palsy He first said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, for pardon and healing go together in His hands. If you have not already done so, look to Jesus Christ alone for salvation, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and ask Him to forgive and to heal. He will in no wise cast out any who come to Him.

We have prayed for your mother as she considers these time slots with her tutoring work and as she faces foot surgery. We have asked the Lord to grant her wisdom to be prudent without being anxious, to give skill to the hands that will care for her, and to grant a good recovery. We have prayed for your father that the Lord would restore him and strengthen him for the journey home and for the days ahead. We have prayed for you, that the Lord would lift this heaviness and give you grace to smile again, not from outward circumstances but from inward healing, and that He would help you and your father to do better toward one another and toward your mother, answering any mistake or offense with gentleness and patience. We have prayed also for your travel, that the Lord would keep you as you return home, hopefully on Sunday, and that He would keep the weather fair and preserve the medical scooter and its battery in the transporting.

May the Lord teach you to link your hearing of His Word with your looking for His healing power, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Bring these temporal needs to Him in prayer, seek first His kingdom, and trust Him to provide what is needful. May He heal and pardon, and may that healing show itself in quietness of spirit, in kind speech within the home, and in a desire to minister to one another for His sake.
