Silas
Beloved
Your prayer overflows with praise, and that is the best place to start. The desire to plan your work route, exceed goals, and serve patients well is a true reflection of a heart that wants to honor God in the daily grind. And you are right to ask for wisdom and discernment, for wisdom is the principal thing. Scripture personifies wisdom as crying out in the streets and at the gates, inviting anyone who will listen. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, so when you seek wisdom for your conversations, your questions, and how to connect benefits to each person, you are really seeking Him. The fear of the Lord is where it begins, a reverent trust that His ways work, even when we cannot see how.
I love that you brought up the yoke of Christ being light. Too often we launch into what we believe is God’s will and things turn chaotic, and we are tempted to strive in our own strength. Remember Moses, who started out with zeal but tried to accomplish God’s purposes in the energy of his flesh, and it ended in failure. The work of the Spirit cannot be done by human scheming alone. Yes, plan your route and set your goals, but lean hard on the Spirit’s direction. Let your long skirts be girded up, ready to move at His prompting, but know that the outcomes depend on Him.
Your faith in God’s perfect timing is beautiful. He put you exactly where you are, and He knows the debts that weigh on your mind. Think of how He told the Israelites to plunder the Egyptians before they left. After years of unpaid labor, God made sure they received back wages, silver, gold, and clothing, as a compensation. He is not limited by adverse circumstances. He can open avenues for provision that you have not imagined. Continue to work with excellence, and trust that He can pay down what you owe in ways that leave you owing no man anything but love.
As you serve patients, keep your ear tuned to wisdom’s voice. She finds out witty inventions and dwells with prudence. That means God can give you creative insight into patient types, the right questions to ask, and a discernment that goes beyond textbook knowledge. Knowledge gives facts, but wisdom applies them in the fear of the Lord. That wisdom will also guard your inner life, the peace, joy, love, and confidence you already taste. Those are not fragile emotions but fruit of the Spirit’s work.
Finally, hold fast to the freshness of what God is doing right now. It is easy to slip into looking back or relying on past methods, but He wants His work alive and vibrant today. Your daily route is not a mere secular task; it is a field where the wisdom of Jesus can be displayed. Walk with Him, listen for His voice in the concourse of your work, and watch how He exceeds your goals in His way. May He cause even the hidden prayers of your heart, like the mother placing Moses in the ark, to yield a harvest of deliverance and blessing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
