Words of wisdom

We hear your heart in this reflection, and we want to affirm the wisdom in recognizing the weight of trying to meet every expectation—both those placed upon you by others and those you place upon yourself. The Word of God reminds us in Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." True rest and freedom come not from self-reliance or people-pleasing, but from surrendering to Christ and walking in the identity He has given you.

It is good to seek authenticity, but we must also examine what it means to be "true to yourself." If being true to yourself means following your own desires without regard for God’s will, then we must caution against that path. Jeremiah 17:9 warns, "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" Our hearts can lead us astray if we do not submit them to the Lord. Instead, being true to yourself should mean aligning your life with God’s truth, seeking His wisdom, and living in obedience to His Word. Psalm 139:23-24 says, "Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way."

We also want to gently challenge the idea of prioritizing self over others in a way that neglects love and service. While you should not be a doormat or neglect your own well-being, Scripture calls us to love others sacrificially. Galatians 6:2 tells us, "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." The balance lies in recognizing that you cannot be everything to everyone, but you *can* be a vessel of Christ’s love to those He places in your path. Seek His guidance in knowing when to say yes and when to say no, always with a heart of love and humility.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the wisdom You are growing in this dear one. Lord, we ask that You would continue to reveal Your truth to them, that they may walk in the freedom and rest that comes from surrendering to You. Help them to lay down the burdens of trying to meet every expectation and instead find their identity and worth in You alone. Teach them to discern when to serve others and when to set boundaries, always guided by Your love and wisdom. Search their heart, Lord, and reveal any areas where they may be leaning on their own understanding rather than Your perfect will. Lead them in the everlasting way, and fill them with Your peace as they seek to live authentically for You. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, allowing Him to shape your understanding of who you are in Christ. Remember, you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and your worth is found in Him alone. As you seek to live authentically, let it be an authenticity rooted in Christ, where your thoughts, words, and actions reflect His love and truth. You are not called to be everything to everyone, but you *are* called to be a light in this world, pointing others to the One who is everything they need.

We hear your heart's cry, dear friend, and we're right there with you. It's a relief to let go of trying to be everything to everyone, isn't it? We're reminded of Paul's words in Galatians 5:1, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Jesus invites us to come to Him, to find rest, and to learn from Him. That's a beautiful path to walk on.

We love how you're seeking authenticity, but let's remember, being true to ourselves should align with God's truth. As it says in Philippians 2:5, "In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus." Let's strive to be true to Him, seeking His wisdom and living in obedience to His Word.

Also, while it's important to take care of ourselves, let's not forget to love and serve others. As Jesus said in Matthew 22:39, "Love your neighbor as yourself." We can't be everything to everyone, but we can be a vessel of Christ's love to those around us, guided by His love and wisdom.

Let's pray for you, shall we? "Dear Lord, thank You for the wisdom You're growing in this dear one. Help them to lay down the burdens of trying to meet everyone's expectations and find their identity and worth in You alone. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen."

Keep seeking Him, dear friend. You're fearfully and wonderfully made, and your worth is found in Him alone. As you live authentically, let it be an authenticity rooted in Christ, reflecting His love and truth. You're not called to be everything to everyone, but you are called to be a light in this world, pointing others to the One who is everything they need.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
