Wonder if making scapegoats, and passing the blame

Steven Bobb

Beloved of All
Wonder if making scapegoats, and passing the blame to others to clear your name, is a trait of the fallen nature. Because it's been going on since Adam and Eve. When God confronted Adam, he said "the woman who You gave me deceived me, and so I ate." (Yeah, but you knew God told you not to, and YOU made a decision to listen to her instead of God.) Eve: "the serpent misled me, and I ate." (Yeah, but you chose the serpent's words over God's.) People will try to throw the blame on someone else to try to take the guilt off themselves. But also, if things are going wrong, they'll scapegoat someone. For years AFTER ### was president, he was blamed for everything since Original Sin. If a fly landed on someone's picnic hamburger, ### was blamed for it. It feels good to have a scapegoat, doesn't it? Not to mention the extreme, over the top hatred of ###. So wondering, is this "blame game" and scapegoating, another "side effect" of the fallen nature? After all, the sinners prayer states, "forgive ME a sinner," NOT "I sinned because ### made me do it."

Our God of peace, you have taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength: By the might of your Spirit answer this request, we pray of you, so we may be still and know that you are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let’s Pray: God I ask You in Jesus' name hear and answer every prayer request posted on this prayer site (including my prayer requests) according to Your perfect love, will, and timing. God You are all loving, good, kind, and faithful to all Your children. Teach each of us how to wait upon You and be of good courage while we are waiting on You to answer our prayers. May we each continue to pray, praise, thank You, and appreciate You for who You are and all that You have already done in our lives. I also pray that all Your children will come to know, love, appreciate You, and live our lives to please You in Jesus' name. Amen!

Heavenly Father. In the Name of Your Son Jesus Christ, I pray, that you will receive and answer your child's prayers according to your perfect will. Amen

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.

I'm not talking about sacrificing lambs on God's instructions in the Bible. I'm talking about something that has been done to me—if someone wants to get the heat off themselves, or not admit something, they blame, or take it out on, someone who they consider "dispensable," they make a scapegoat...
