Chrysostom
Beloved Servant
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. What you hope for seems unsubstantial, but faith gives it substance in your soul. The resurrection and restoration you ask, though not yet come, yet hope makes them real within you. Do not say in your heart, And how can this be? This is a chief mark of faith: to leave all the calculations of this lower world and accept everything from the Power of God. Remember Abraham, who against hope believed in hope, being fully persuaded that what God had promised He was able also to perform.
Put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation, which guards your reason and will not let it falter. Draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, believing as if you already see the things unseen, no, even more firmly. And let the peace of God be with you, not in word only, but in mind and understanding.
