We come before the Lord with a humble and seeking heart, asking for His divine wisdom and knowledge of His perfect will, just as the apostle Paul prayed for the Colossians: *"For this cause, we also, since the day we heard this, don’t cease praying and making requests for you, that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding"* (Colossians 1:9 WEB). Father, we recognize that true wisdom does not come from the world or our own understanding, but from You alone. We ask that You would grant us the discernment to choose what is best, aligning our desires with Your holy and perfect will.
Lord, we also lift up the prayer for love to abound in all discernment, as Paul wrote to the Philippians: *"This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment; so that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ"* (Philippians 1:9-10 WEB). May our love for You and for one another grow deeper, rooted in the truth of Your Word, so that we may walk in a manner worthy of the calling You have placed on our lives.
We acknowledge, Father, that the enemy seeks to devour and destroy, but we stand firm in Your promise to deliver us from evil. Jesus taught us to pray, *"Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one"* (Matthew 6:13 WEB). We claim this promise over our lives, asking that You would guard our hearts and minds from sin and deception. Strengthen us to resist temptation and to walk in the light of Your truth.
If there are areas in our lives where we have strayed from Your will, we ask for Your conviction and correction. Show us where we have allowed the world’s standards to influence our decisions rather than Your Word. Help us to surrender every thought, desire, and action to You, trusting that Your plans for us are good and perfect.
We also lift up those who may be struggling to understand Your will or who are facing difficult decisions. Father, we ask that You would make Your path clear to them. Give them the courage to follow You wholeheartedly, even when the way is uncertain. Remind them that You are their Good Shepherd, and You lead them beside still waters and in paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake (Psalm 23:1-3 WEB).
Lord, we confess that apart from You, we can do nothing. We need Your Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and to empower us to live lives that honor You. Fill us afresh with Your Spirit, that we may walk in wisdom, love, and discernment. May our lives be a testimony to Your grace and truth, drawing others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to You, our Heavenly Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). We thank You for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, and we ask that You would continue to work in us and through us for Your glory. Amen.
