We join you in lifting up this powerful passage from Ephesians 1:15-23, a prayer that stirs our hearts to seek the fullness of God’s revelation and power. What a beautiful reminder of the spiritual riches we have in Christ, wisdom, hope, inheritance, and the surpassing greatness of His power at work within us! This prayer is not just for knowledge but for experiential truth, that we might walk in the reality of who God is and what He has done for us through Jesus Christ.

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who sits at Your right hand, far above all rule and authority. We ask, as Paul did, that You would grant us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Yourself. Open the eyes of our hearts, Lord, that we may see the hope of Your calling, the glorious future You have prepared for us. Let us grasp the riches of our inheritance in Christ, not as distant theology, but as living truth that transforms our daily lives. And Father, we pray that we would know the surpassing greatness of Your power, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him in heavenly places. May we walk in that power, not in our own strength, but in the might of Your Spirit.

We rebuke any spirit of dullness or complacency that would keep us from pressing into this revelation. The enemy would love to blind us to the truth of who we are in Christ, but we declare that the eyes of our hearts are enlightened by Your Word and Your Spirit. We reject the lie that says we must remain in ignorance or powerlessness. You have given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Christ (2 Peter 1:3), and we choose to walk in that truth.

For those who may be reading this and have never fully surrendered to Jesus as Lord, we must emphasize this: salvation comes only through faith in Him. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not confessed Jesus as Lord and believed in Your heart that God raised Him from the dead, we urge you to do so today. Repent of your sins, turn to Christ, and receive the gift of eternal life.

For all of us, let us not be content with surface-level faith. Let us hunger and thirst for more of You, Lord. May we seek You with all our hearts, knowing that those who seek You will find You (Jeremiah 29:13). Let us not grow weary in prayer or in studying Your Word, for it is there that we find the wisdom and revelation we so desperately need.

We also pray for unity in the body of Christ. Ephesians reminds us that the church is the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way. May we walk in love and humility, bearing with one another, and building each other up in the faith. Let us not be divided by secondary issues but united in the truth of the Gospel.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use us as vessels of Your power and grace. May the same power that raised Christ from the dead flow through us to touch a lost and dying world. Let us be bold in sharing the hope we have in You, that others may come to know You as we do.

One thing we’ve noticed is that wisdom and revelation tend to come not all at once, but as we keep turning toward Him in small, daily ways. Maybe a simple step is to take a few quiet minutes each day this week with just the last half of that passage, Ephesians 1:19-23, and ask the Father to “enlighten the eyes of your heart” (as the text says) to really see Christ’s authority and nearness. You don’t need to study it; just sit with it and let the truth sink in.

You have asked for that which the Apostle himself prayed for the saints at Ephesus, and it is a prayer that God delights to answer, for it seeks nothing less than Himself. The Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, this is the very essence of eternal life, according to our Lord’s own words: “This is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent.” And until God reveals Christ in you by His Spirit, you cannot know Him savingly. You know about Him, perhaps, as you know of a distant king; but to know Him as your own, as the Son of the living God, given for you, that comes by a distinct revealing from the Father. Cry for that revelation, and be not content till the eyes of your heart are flooded with light.

What is the hope of His calling? It is a hope that anchors the soul, sure and steadfast, because it is grounded not on your fickle frames or feelings, but on the eternal purpose of God in Christ Jesus. There is a hope that springs from the nature of things when the Spirit gives it; a good hope through grace, which purifies even as it cheers. And what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints? Ah, that inheritance is exceeding broad, the Lord Himself is the portion of His people. In Christ are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge; the unsearchable riches of His grace are yours if you are in Him. Do not think you have already attained; there are glorious truths of God of which beginners know nothing, and through not knowing them they miss much joy. Press on to take possession of that broad land; the land that flows with milk and honey is before you.

You ask to know the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. That power is nothing less than the power which raised the Lord Jesus from the dead and set Him at the Father’s right hand, far above all principality and power. Consider this: the same might that tore the bars of death asunder and lifted the stone from the sepulcher is engaged on your behalf. Is anything too hard for the Lord? This power is made perfect in your weakness; when you have no strength, then the power of Christ rests upon you. Learn to cry, “Abba, Father,” and you will find that you have power with God, not because any power originates in you, but because of what is in God. He has given you the Spirit of adoption, and that gives a wondrous power in prayer.

Now, all this is bound up in Christ. He is the power of God and the wisdom of God. Would you have wisdom? Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. Policy is not wisdom, nor craft. True wisdom is to know Christ, to rest in Him, to be conformed to His image. The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation; it turns sinners into saints and makes the feeble strong. If you would know these things experimentally, abide in Him, watch, and grow in dependence upon God. The Lord will teach you, line upon line; He will open the Scriptures to you, and the Comforter will bring all things to your remembrance. Only let your faith hang wholly upon the finished work of Christ, for it is in Him that God beholds us with favor, and through Him all the riches of glory are conveyed.

Therefore, let your prayer ascend day and night for this wisdom and revelation. He who spared not His own Son will with Him freely give you all things. You have a throne of grace, where the Lamb stands as though slain, ever interceding. There you may come with boldness. The true sayings of God assure you that, being justified by faith, you have peace with God; and the hope of glory shall not make ashamed. May the Lord give you to know these things, not as mere words upon a page, but as the living experience of your soul, till you are filled with all the fullness of God.

What a prayer you have lifted from the Apostle’s own words, a prayer brimming with the very power of God. You seek a spirit of wisdom and revelation to know Him, to grasp the hope of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance, and the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. This is no small request; it reaches into the very depths of the Divine purpose.

Consider first this power of which the Apostle speaks. It is the power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him far above all rule and authority. The same might that rolled away the stone and burst the bonds of death now works toward you who believe. This is the power that turns the foolishness of the cross into the wisdom that shames the world. For Christ Himself became wisdom for us from God, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. The wisdom you seek is not found in the speculations of men, but in the Crucified and Risen One. The world may laugh at such a hope, but they laughed while we once wept over corpses as those with no expectation. Now, through this power, we know death is not death; it is a passage to a better dwelling-place. This is the hope of His calling, that our corruptible body shall put on immortality, a garment more glorious than any earthly robe.

But how is this wisdom and revelation given? The Apostle prays that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened. It is the Spirit who sheds light, who illumines the inner vision. Yet note: the Spirit is not given to the proud or to those nailed down by the cares of wealth. Arrogance and worldly anxieties stop up the ears and darken the soul. If you would know the immensity of God’s love, its breadth, length, height, and depth, you must be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man. This strength comes not from your own resolve, but from Him who wills to bestow grace upon grace, so that no flesh may boast. The trials that come are allowed so that the power of God may be displayed in sustaining you, making you more lowly and more hardy for the kingdom.

Apply your mind always to the greatness of this inheritance. He has made you a partaker not only of the forgiveness of sins, but of a kingdom, and has already shed abroad His Spirit into your heart as a pledge. Why then be consumed with the passing things of this life? The hope of your calling sets your mind on things above where Christ is seated. Live in a manner worthy of this calling by doing good to those in need, for alms given in faith send provisions ahead of the departed and testify to the power of the Resurrection. Fix your eyes there, and the Spirit will indeed give you revelation in the full knowledge of Him, as you grasp with all the saints the love that surpasses knowledge. This prayer of yours will not go unanswered, for He who raised Christ from the dead will also quicken your understanding and fill you with the hope that does not disappoint.

Paul’s words in Ephesians 1 are a deep well for every believer, and to ask specifically for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, for enlightened hearts, and for a real grasp of the hope, the riches, and the power that are ours in Christ is to ask for exactly what God delights to give.

The foundation of this prayer rests on who God is. He is the eternal “I Am,” the One who was and is and is to come. He is not bound by time; all of history is present before Him. So when He calls you, that calling is rooted in His unchanging nature. The hope He holds out to you is not a wishful thought, but a certainty anchored in His own character. He wants you to know Him in that way, not just as a doctrine but as a living reality. That is why Paul prays for the eyes of your heart to be enlightened. It is an inner unveiling, a spiritual illumination, so that you truly see what has already been given to you.

Part of what you are asking to know is “the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.” Have you paused to consider that you are part of that inheritance? God values you as His own treasured possession. The same Scriptures that speak of our inheritance in Christ also reveal that we are His inheritance. He has made a down payment on that redemption, giving you the Holy Spirit as the earnest, the seal, the guarantee. This is God showing how serious and faithful He is. That guarantee is not a distant deposit; it’s the very presence of God living within you right now, making you long for that full redemption when you will be perfectly conformed to Jesus.

And consider the surpassing greatness of His power toward us. That power is not measured against human strength or human obstacles. It is the very might that raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him far above every rule, authority, power, and dominion. Every name that tries to stand against you, every spiritual opposition, every chain of sin or circumstance, is already under His feet. The world is under the sway of the evil one, and that is why suffering and confusion persist, but God has not left you powerless. The resurrection power that conquered the grave works in you, strengthening you to persevere, to overcome, and to live in a way that reflects His victory.

You need wisdom and revelation not just to store up information, but to live in the light of these truths. God often guides by opening doors of opportunity, and sometimes by shutting them. Do not try to force what God has closed. Trust that He sees the full picture. When a path seems blocked, it is an invitation to wait on Him, to lean on His understanding rather than your own, and to watch for the new door He will open. In that waiting, the Spirit illuminates Scripture, deepens your prayer life, and confirms the hope of your calling.

Let this request also search your heart. The motivation behind seeking these things must be love. God has commanded us to love Him wholly, and to love one another as He has loved us. If you want to know the hope of His calling, it is so that hope may overflow in love for others. If you want the riches of His inheritance, it is so you can serve with generosity, not covetousness. And if you want the surpassing greatness of His power, it is so that you might walk in holiness and steadfast faith, not in self-exaltation. God is faithful. His judgments are righteous and true, and His love is the bedrock of everything He does. You can trust Him with every unanswered question, every suffering you see in the world, and every personal trial. He is not to blame for what Satan has brought about; instead, He has redemptively entered into it through Christ to save and restore.

So as you pray this prayer, keep gazing at the Lamb upon the throne. All power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing belong to Him. He is the faithful witness of what God is like. In Jesus, you see the Father’s heart perfectly displayed. And because you are united with Him, the Spirit of wisdom and revelation will keep teaching you, day by day, the immensity of what you already have. Let your heart join the eternal chorus that declares, “Worthy is the Lamb!” and in that worship you will find that your eyes are opened to the hope, the riches, and the power that are yours even now.
