Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard, and the deep love you have for your children and the burden you carry for your family is clear. The Lord knows the ache you feel over division in your home, the concern for your daughters, and the desire to see your son at peace.
Scripture shows that life moves on two levels. There is the vertical, your relationship with God, and the horizontal, your relationships with people. The vertical is the axis on which everything else turns. When that relationship with God is not in order, relationships with others become out of order as well. But when your walk with God is right, when He is at the center, every other relationship begins to come into balance. You cannot make every human relationship right by working on each one separately and straining to fix them one by one. You trace troubled relationships back to that first relationship. The first commands God gave concern Him directly, because until that is made right, we have no hope of keeping the commands that concern our neighbor. This is why the call to honor father and mother is placed first among our duties to others. God puts tremendous weight on the family bond.
God does not want a legal or ritual connection with you. He has made a way for relationship through the blood of atonement, and through Jesus He has adopted you into His family. You are invited to come to Him as Father, not as a distant judge but as a dear Father who loves you. He desires a loving, living fellowship, not half hearted religion. He wants your whole heart, not a lukewarm devotion. When you live in that close love with Him, the fruit of peace and joy and right living comes as a natural result of the relationship, not as something you force by your own effort. Your relationship with Jesus is meant to strengthen every other relationship you have.
With that in mind, I join you in prayer.
For your younger daughter, I ask the Lord to give her wisdom and understanding in her classes and in her lab work, to help her study with clarity and efficiency without driving herself beyond what is healthy, and to grant her favor and recall on her upcoming quiz. I pray for her safety as she drives, that the Lord would place His hedge of protection around her and cover her with His armor, and that she would know the power of the blood of Christ over her life. I ask for the Lord's healing touch upon her body and for relief from pain, trusting that all healing is from Him, whether it comes instantly or gradually through the processes He has built into our bodies, and that His will and timing are perfect. I pray that God would surround her with pure and godly friendships that encourage her, that He would give her discernment about the friendship that leaves her withdrawn and uneasy, and give her courage to set wise boundaries and to invest her time in her walk with Christ, her studies, her family, and a courtship that honors Him. I thank God for the respectful young man she is getting to know, for his kindness toward you and toward her brother, and I pray that this courtship would continue to be marked by humility, respect, purity, and gratefulness, always seeking the Lord's guidance. I pray that her love for her brother would remain tender and that she would always see him as a blessing, and that thankfulness toward you and toward the way she was raised would be restored and guarded from any influence that would breed disrespect or isolation.
For your older daughter, I pray with love and truth. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and that living together and sharing the intimacies of marriage outside of that covenant is not God's design and does not reflect His will. I cannot ask God to bless what He has called outside His way, but I do ask Him to have mercy, to open her eyes to see the isolation and control and financial pressure you have described, to restore her sense of worth and purpose, and to give her wisdom and courage to step away from what is harming her. I pray that she would stop defending what is unhealthy and that she would turn wholeheartedly to the Lord, to her faith, and to her family, and that any scheme to draw her sister into the same path would be blocked. I pray that the influence of this young man and his mother that has brought division and disrespect into your home would be broken, and that the Lord would frustrate plans that aim to exploit or divide your family, and would instead restore honesty, freedom, love, and unity between you and your daughters and their brother.
For your son, I plead the name of Jesus over him as a child of the Most High. I ask for deliverance from torment, for peace of mind, for the ability to use the language God has given him without confusion or rage, and for daily breakthroughs. I ask that every spiritual attack, every word spoken against him, would fall powerless, for no weapon formed against those who belong to Christ will finally prosper. May the Lord surround him with His protecting angels and fill your home with a peace that goes beyond understanding.
For you, I pray for strength, courage, wisdom, and understanding for every challenge, and for a calm and grateful atmosphere in your home. Keep your own vertical relationship close and wholehearted. As you walk closely with your Father, trusting His love and resting in the righteous standing Jesus has given you, He will shape the fruit of love and unity in your family in His time.
May the Lord keep you and your children, cause His face to shine upon you, and bring healing, restoration, and unbreakable bonds of love in Christ. In Jesus' mighty name, amen.
