Wind and storms

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts as we lift up those in the path of destructive winds and storms. Your Word reminds us in Psalm 107:29 that You "make the storm a calm, so that its waves are still." We ask You now to still the winds, to gentle the rains, and to protect all who are in harm’s way. Lord, be a shelter for those facing the fury of the elements—guard their homes, their lives, and their peace.

We pray especially for those in flooded areas, where waters rise and threaten safety. You are the One who walks on the water and commands the seas; we trust in Your power to hold back the floodwaters and provide dry ground. Give wisdom to emergency responders, strength to those who must evacuate, and comfort to those who feel overwhelmed by fear. May Your presence be a tangible peace in the midst of chaos.

Father, we also ask for Your mercy on those who may not yet know You. In the midst of trial, draw hearts to seek You, for You alone are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Let this storm be an opportunity for many to turn to You in faith, recognizing that apart from You, we have no true safety.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and destruction in Jesus’ name, declaring that no weapon formed against Your people shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We stand on Your promise that You will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), and we trust You to bring calm, restoration, and hope in the aftermath of this storm.

Lord, we thank You for hearing our prayers and for Your faithfulness in every season. May Your name be glorified, even in the storm. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
