CHRISTIANS! AVOID YOGA!
By Bibleman
Is yoga simply a harmless method to improve ones health and wellness? Can a Christian participate in yoga sessions at the local YMCA without endangering his faith and without physical harm?
According to the book “New Age Cults and Religions,” by Texe Marrs, pages 290-298, Yoga is not simply a harmless series of physical and mental exercises to help one achieve better health but is in reality a Hindu occult spiritual philosophy where a person can eventually experience a “God” or entity directly through its occult meditation practices. The “Concise Dictionary of the Occult and New Age,” page 288, warns that yoga is not merely a harmless breathing and relaxation exercise to develop, stretch, and strengthen the body’s muscles, extend and align the spinal column and enhance cardiovascular circulation, but rather serves as a gateway to eastern mysticism and the occult. The goal is to achieve increasingly higher meditative states until one reaches oneness with the occult New Age cosmic consciousness or universal mind, where one can gain supernatural occult powers, receive occult wisdom and guidance, communicate directly with Satan and his demons, and come under demonic possession and control.
WHAT IS YOGA?
Yoga is a New Age practice derived from eastern mysticism and Hinduism. The word yoga means unity and represents an occult system that is designed to unite man with his “higher self” or discover his self-divinity and oneness with God. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of yoga, taught that yoga was a powerful religious practice that would bring one into fellowship and union with spirit entities and gods that reside in another dimension. Christians believe that the entities Yogi is referring to is Satan and his spirit world of demons and evil spirits. Christian researchers like Dave Hunt, view yoga as a form of sorcery, rather than an innocent health and fitness therapy. “A sorcerer takes drugs or practices forms of yoga in order to reach an altered state of consciousness and to thereby contact “spirits” from whom he can gain “magical” knowledge and (psychic) power. (Dave Hunt, The Seduction of Christianity, 1985, p. 102) Raja Yoga incorporates occult meditation with specifically designated postures that promote an altered state of consciousness. Hatha Yoga is the form of yoga that emphasizes physical fitness through exercises that are supposed to peacefully harmonize body, mind and spirit, joining the person to God, but instead, have been known to bring physical harm, mental instability, contact with evil demonic spirit entities and spiritual bondage to psychic powers.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DANGERS OF YOGA!
It has been discovered that the practice of yoga can lead to the immediate dangers of death or insanity. “Swami Prabhavanada’s Yoga and Mysticism” lists brain injury, incurable disease, and insanity as potential hazards of wrong yoga practice; Reiker lists cancer of the throat, death, all kinds of ailments, blackouts, strange trance states, or even insanity from the slightest mistake...” E. Wood warns of ‘the imminent risk of most serious bodily disorder, disease, and even madness.’ Many people have brought upon themselves incurable illness and even madness by neglecting Hatha Yoga prerequisites and ‘by any mistake there arises cough, asthma, head, eye, and ear pains, and many other diseases.” (Wilson & Weldon, Occult Shock, 1980, pp. 72,73) Gopi Krishna who founded a Kundalini Research Center expressed the dangers of Hatha Yoga practices and the kundalini experience: “The power, when aroused in a body not attuned to it… can lead to awful mental states, to almost every form of mental disorder, from hardly noticeable aberrations to the most horrible forms of insanity, to neurosis and paranoia, to megalomania, and, by causing tormenting pressure on reproductive organs, to an all-consuming sexual thirst that is never assuaged.” (Gropi Krishna, The Awakening of Kundalini, 1975, p. 14) Even the PVC vinyl mats used in yoga exercises have been found toxic and “linked to a host of health risks, including damage to the liver, lungs and reproductive system” by being “inhaled or absorbed through the skin.” The most freightening and bizarre physical calamity is that some yogis attribute spontaneous human combustion, (when people burst into flames), as a direct result of a malfunctioning kundalini.
GRAVE SPIRITUAL DANGERS!
Yoga may seem like a harmless activity in its deceptive beginnings but as one advances into the 4th stage it becomes a demonic nightmare involving spiritistic phenomena, occult magic and contact with demonic spirits or cosmic forces. “Yoga is really pure occultism, as any number of yoga and occult texts prove. Occult abilities are very common from yoga practice, and the numerous dangers of occultism are evident from many studies. The yoga scholar and Sanskrit authority, Mishra, states: ‘In conclusion, it may be said that behind every psychic investigation, behind mysticism, occultism, etc., knowingly or unknowingly, the yoga system is present.’” (Occult Shock, p. 73) In her best-selling book, “The Beautiful Side of Evil,” Johanna Michaelson tells how she summoned up a deceptive spirit through the practice of yoga and occult meditation, who pretended to be Jesus but turned out to be a demonic spirit.
Many yoga practicioners or yogis have discovered that the kundalini experience is nothing more than a Luciferic initiation that brings one into contact with Lucifer himself. The kundalini experience leads to psychic powers and to demonic possession. “Mantras which are manifestations of kundalini are psychic powers that can injure or kill a man as well as promote an identity or personality change leading adherents into “free prostitution, blackouts, pat lives experiences, demonic and insane states...occult powers...spirit contact and extreme paranoia.” (Occult Shock, pp. 75,76) The practice of certain physical and mental exercises in yoga are subtle occult techniques that alter or empty ones mind and consciousness allowing the inflow of demonic spirits into ones life. Transcendental meditation in yoga is the occult technique of self-hypnosis which alters ones consciousness placing one in a passive state sufficient to open the door, “allowing every possible kind of unclean spirit and demonic power to enter.” (Dragon in the Holy Place, p. 2) At the 4th stage “Yoga reaches its ultimate master—Satan, whose desire it is to snatch people away into the abyss—yoga ends not in self-redemption and atheism, but in the cult of demons.” (Kurt Kock, Occult ABC, p. 260)
DELIVERANCE ONLY IN JESUS CHRIST
Christians who continue in yoga will find that their spiritual lives have either been severely paralyzed or extinguished as they come under satanic bondage. Christians and ex-occultists, who have renounced yoga, tell of the occult oppression, psychic powers and satanic bondage under their union with Satan. The search for physical health and tranquility, inner peace, spiritual purification, fellowship with God and self-realization through yoga is in reality only leading its participants into spiritual devastation, satanic manipulation and bondage. (See the Book, “Out From Darkness—The True Story of a Medium Who Escapes The Occult,” chap. 10) Chris Pike, son of Bishop Pike, tells the story of how he had practiced yoga and meditation. “As a result he had become controlled by spirit beings which had nearly destroyed his life. He then renounced these powers in the name of Jesus, and today is a witness to the transforming power of Jesus Christ. His life was completely changed.” (Kurt Kock, Occult ABC, pp. 260-261) “We have dealt with individuals who had come under occult oppression and bondage by simply following yoga exercise routines—without the meditation. Those who were also involved in meditation were more severely oppressed...the various yoga positions...open the way for demon spirits to enter and torment an individual. Those who turn to Christ do gain deliverance from all the harmful influences of yoga and their lives are completely changed through the power of Christ.” (Win Worley, Battling the Host of Hell, p. 229)
