Why Should You Tarry?

Why should you tarry when Jesus is pleading.
Pleading for you and for me.
Why do we linger and hear not his mercies.
Mercies for you and for me.
Come home, come home,
Ye who are weary come home,
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling ,
Calling o sinners come home.

Will L. Thompson author of this wonderful was visiting the dying evangelist Dwight Moody and he said. Write a song. Softly and tenderly... Jesus is calling.

At His death bed Thompson decided to write....

Time is now fleeting,
The moments are passing.
Passing from you and from me.
Shadows are gathering death beds are coming,
Coming for you and for me.

Beloved in Christ,
This world is not our home.
Let us all look to Jesus, He is waiting for you and for me.
He is at the door and waits patiently.
Open your heart, open your mind, open your soul to Him.
He wants to take you and me home to heaven.
Can you do that for me?
Can all your relatives and friends do this for Jesus?
I hope so.

Amen

Why should I tarry, and why do I tarry? I have wasted enough, a lifetime, and still question and ask. Forgive my unbelief, my laziness, my arrogance. Even as I confess, let me surrender this load of sin and not hold on to it as I have been doing ALL THESE YEARS. I have Your word, but not the breastplate as I haven't been obedient. How can You forgive me? I cannot find faith again, which I seem to have lost. Is that possible, Lord. Please hear again. Spare the children, the family from my sins and mine alone.
