Why is this Hods pattern?

I was wondering but when I have a problem and keep it in prayer Hod may get me out of it but He waits until the last possible minute when its at critical point.Wonder why He does that making me go through all the anxiety of wondering how it will turn out.?topull off a :squeaker"?Also,as soon as the victory looks at hand?the devil counters to steal some of it away.Dont understand these patterns.

God not God that was a typo.

We hear your honest question and we have wondered the same thing in our own walks, why the Lord so often answers at what feels like the last possible moment and why the enemy seems to counterattack right when victory is in sight.

We want to gently correct the idea that God is making you go through anxiety on purpose to pull off a squeaker. Anxiety is not what He gives us, it is what we feel when we are waiting and struggling to trust His timing. His thoughts and His ways are higher than ours, as it is written Isaiah 55:8-9, and His timing is perfect even when it feels late to us. The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness 2 Peter 3:9. What feels like the last minute to us is right on time to Him. He often waits until there is no doubt that the deliverance could only be from Him, so that we will not trust in ourselves but in Him. Remember how He waited until Lazarus had been in the tomb four days before Jesus came John 11:6, or how He led Israel to the Red Sea with the army behind them so that only His mighty hand could save them Exodus 14. James 1:2-4 tells us that the testing of our faith produces endurance, that we may be perfect and complete. Romans 8:28 reminds us that all things work together for good for those who love God, and that good often includes teaching us to wait and to trust Him more deeply.

Instead of anxiety, He calls us to a different response in the waiting. Philippians 4:6-7 says in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for us. Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. We have to learn to wait for Yahweh and be strong, and let our heart take courage Psalm 27:14, and to know that those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength Isaiah 40:31.

Your second observation is very real. As soon as God brings victory near, the enemy does try to steal, kill, and destroy John 10:10. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers and spiritual forces of wickedness Ephesians 6:12. The devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8. He cannot overrule God, but he will try to discourage us, to plant doubt, and to steal the joy and testimony of what God has done. That is why we are told to be sober and watchful, to resist the devil and he will flee from you James 4:7, and to put on the whole armor of God Ephesians 6:10-18 so we can stand firm.

We also notice you spoke of Hod and God but did not mention Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we have not put our trust in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, we are still separated from God. We encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead Romans 10:9, for then you can come boldly before God in prayer in His name.

We pray together with you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You that You are never late and that Your timing is perfect and loving. Forgive us for when we have doubted Your goodness in the waiting. We ask You to replace our anxiety with Your peace that passes all understanding, to teach us to cast every care on You and to wait with hope and thanksgiving. Strengthen our faith through these trials so we become mature and complete in You. We rebuke the schemes of the enemy who tries to steal our victory and joy, and we ask You to help us stand firm, resisting him in the power of Jesus, clothed in Your armor. Let us see Your hand so clearly that we give You all the glory. Help us to trust You more and to rest in Your love, knowing You work all things for our good. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

Thank you for asking this so honestly. That waiting until the very last moment can feel exhausting, and it makes sense you would feel anxious while you wait.

We have noticed that what feels like a last minute rescue to us is often God working steadily the whole time in ways we cannot see. He is not trying to make you sweat it out. More often He is shaping trust over a longer process, not just in a single dramatic moment. Learning to walk step by step can feel slower than we want, but it builds something that a quick fix does not.

And that second pattern you named is also familiar. Coming down from a high point often leaves us tired and more open to discouragement, and the enemy does like to press in right then. It does not mean the victory was not real, it means the valley after the mountain needs care too.

One thing that has helped others is to notice the pattern as it happens. When the worry spikes, pause and gently remind yourself what God has already done, and talk it through with a steady, trusted believer who can help you keep perspective in the moment.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You see the anxiety and the questions and the weariness when a win feels stolen. Give calm, clear assurance of Your nearness and wisdom for each next step. Guard his heart from discouragement and draw him closer to You through it all. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

🙌 Father in Heaven, thank You for being RICH in mercy, when we were dead in sin made us alive in Christ by grace, Eph 2:4-5. We ask you give our family members, all those lost and those that are walking with You the same and only hope, Lord, faith, baptism and Father, Eph 4:4-6. Shine in their hearts(and ours) the Light of the Knowledge of the Glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, 2 Cor 4:6. Let The Holy Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know you better be given, so we know the hope of Your calling, and the riches of Christ's inheritance, Eph 1:17-18. Give us spiritual hunger for the "sincere milk of the Word," 1 Peter 2:2, and, "give us our Daily Bread," Matt 6:11. "Open our minds to put the Scriptures together as a puzzle" (συνιέναι; Luke 24:45). Strengthen us to use daily, Chronological and Systematic Bible reading plans, Josh 1:8, Tim 4:13, 2 Tim 2:15.

Help us enjoy our journey, "awakening our ears morning by morning to hear as disciples" (Isaiah 50:4-5), talking with you and each other about what we read, as it is written, "the one who receives instruction in the word must share in all good things with his instructor," Gal 6:6. As always, guard us from distractions, sin and the evil one, Ps 91:11-12, Mt 6:13, Jn 17:15. Help us receive the Word engrafted, (James 1:21, so we may be a doers of the Word, not hearers only, James 1:22. Thank you in the NAME of Jesus the One Mediator between God and Man, 1 Tim 2:5, in Jesus' Name, Amen 2 Cor 1:20, Rev 3:14...

Your question touches a trial well known to the people of God, and you are not alone in having felt it. You have kept a matter in prayer, and the Lord has delivered you, but as you say, at the last possible minute, when the water was at its deepest, and then as soon as the mercy has come, another dart has been shot at you to steal away the comfort of it. There is wisdom in asking why the Lord orders it so.

First, know that you have a waiting God. The prophet says, Therefore will the Lord wait, that He may be gracious unto you. He waits on high that He may have mercy. He is not slow as men count slowness, nor is He unkind in His delay. He waits that the deliverance, when it comes, may be seen to be His own work. If the answer came at your first asking, you might think your own hand had wrought it. When He brings you forth, it must be with His hand and outstretched arm alone, that you may say, He brought them forth. So He lets the need become great, that the grace may appear the greater.

There is a second reason. As you wade into the stream of trouble, at first it is ankle deep, anon it becomes breast high, and you comfort yourself with the promise, When thou passest through the waters I will be with thee. Yet you sink and the water becomes deeper still, till you are in the very deepest part of the stream. It is there, in that deepest place, that faith is tried and proved. The Lord keeps you waiting that you may learn to wait only upon God, not upon the arm of flesh nor upon any changeable creature. Blessed are all they that wait for Him, and His waiting people wait expectantly and patiently, looking for everything from Him who is their All in All. The anxiety of which you speak, that doubtful mind that wonders how it will turn out, is the very thing the Lord would have you lay aside. Neither be ye of a doubtful mind, says the Saviour. You have to do the right thing, to keep the matter in prayer as you have done, and then to leave the result with God. That is His business. Your business is to trust.

You ask why He permits the anxiety. It is that you may learn that doubting the truth of His promise is one thing, and questioning whether that promise is made to you is another. He would have you come to know that His Law written upon the new heart preserves you, and the heart preserves the writing. In your last expiring moments as well as in this present trouble, that writing remains. He is teaching you to remember the years of the right hand of the Most High. When present comfort fails, you are to say, This is my infirmity, but I will remember what He has done. Every former deliverance becomes a song to cheer you in the next night of waiting.

And as to that second pattern you have observed, that as soon as the victory looks at hand the adversary counters to steal some of it away, this also is no strange thing. Just when you are in the deepest part of the stream, Satan appears upon the bank and shoots this fiery arrow, Thy God hath forsaken thee. And when deliverance has come, he will toss the surface of the ocean into an apparent storm, though all may be still and calm down in the caverns beneath. He cannot undo what God has done, but he can, if permitted, rob you of the song that should follow it. That is why we are told to be much in supplication, for he that is mighty on his knees is mighty everywhere, and why after every mercy we should set up our Ebenezer and sing our songs of deliverance, lest the enemy steal the joy of the conquest.

What then shall you do. Keep on praying, and keep on waiting. Do not go limping along all your life when you might run in the way of His commandments. Tighten the harp strings again. Call to remembrance your song in the night. Reckon that if He has found a ransom and delivered you from going down to the pit once, He will do it again. He has said, I will give you a new heart, I will forgive your sins, I will keep you holy, I will preserve you in My ways, I will bring you to Myself at the last. If He has written this upon your heart, it will not be erased.

Therefore wait upon the Lord. His delays are not denials, they are preparations for a more gracious display of His power. The squeaker, as you call it, the narrow escape, is in truth a mighty deliverance, made narrow only that you may see how wide His mercy is. Let the anxiety be turned into expectancy, and let the counter attack of the devil drive you not from your victory but closer to Him who gave it.
