I often wonder why God does not immediately answer my request for finding true love. The God of the universe creator of the whole world would know who is right for a particular person right? So why will he not just let that person appear into my life. Here the shocker, the reason is me. My views on relationships were quite secular, luckily I always loathed clubs, went only four times so I never had a one night stand. And honestly since I had a shaky childhood men scared me. Now I am not so afraid of men, but now I have discovered the world has damage my view on love. Now God our perfect father must purge me of the filth I have been fed and create a new masterpiece.
Proverbs 31 speaks of the virtuous woman which states in verses 10- 11
10 wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
However, where is my example of a noble woman, can you find such a person on television? Maybe. Unfortunately this is where much of our programming comes from, we learn how to cheat, steal, manipulate and lie. The norm is if you wants something do everything in your power to obtain it. It reminds me of two of my favorite songs when I was a teen [bad word] by Republica and Intuition by Jewel. These songs both have messages of getting whatever you want without caring about consequences. The virtuous woman is pretty much none existent, however we know the Lord does not change. Numbers 23:19
19 God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?
And we know his laws on relationships/marriages is unchangeable as well. So we now must focus on God’s ideals for these matters and try to deprogram our way of thinking. It is a slow process one must constantly feed themselves scriptures. Slowly you will began to change inwardly and become the person God created you to be.
1 Peter 3:1-6
3 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 5 For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, 6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.
This sound quite foreign to a modern person, for a woman might feel belittle to submit to her husband, for we are now equal. However, I believe this statement has more to do with respect, for we all know how Abraham gave up his firstborn by Hagar to appease his wife. And if this command was mention to make women slaves of their husband he would have never allowed Sarah to get rid of Ishmael. So I am starting to look from a clearer perspective and when we look deeper in God’s word something that may have seem a little old school will start to make perfect sense.
