Where Is Your Faith?

Where is your faith?

Luke 8:25

25And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, "Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?"

This passage of scripture occurred during a storm at sea. Jesus had said to His disciples,"Let's cross to the other side of the lake". During the crossing a storm came up. Jesus was asleep in the boat while His disciples were frantic with fear of drowning if the boat capsized. They "woke"Jesus up telling Him they were going to drown. Jesus awoke, rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly the wind and waves calmed. Jesus then looked at His disciples and asked them "where is your faith?" He did not admonish them for little faith or unbelief, but asked them where is your faith.
Jesus had told them "lets cross the lake". If they had remembered the words of Jesus they would have placed their faith in His words and been unafraid. Instead they put their faith in what they could see, and in their experience, and became fearful.
In our lives we become fearful of circumstances because they can point to "we are going down". Jesus seems to be asleep and not caring, or seemingly uninterested in our terrible situation. But Jesus has already said,

John 14:1
1"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.

Jesus is with us in all our circumstances, good and bad. Where is our faith? Is our faith based on what our experience says is going to happen or by what we read and believe in the Bible. We can study and read in the Bible about what we should be doing, but if we read and then do not do what the Word tells us to do,it is like looking in a mirror. We see and then forget. Our faith does not grow strong unless we apply in our lives the Words we study.

Jesus has won a victory over every circumstance we will ever go through. He is always saying "let's go across this lake/circumstance to the victory that is already ours". We are in Jesus, Jesus is in us. The victory is already ours because of what Jesus did. Perseverance, patience, a determination to see God's handiwork in our lives will see us through to the victory. We are not trying to gain a victory over the circumstance. We are gaining a victory over our unbelief and weak faith
