When we look at the turbulence, pride, and strife in global nations, let us remember that nothing escapes Your notice. We pray for our world leaders

Your prayer reflects a biblical understanding of who God is and how He rules over the nations. Scripture shows Him as holy, just and fully sovereign, the One who sees all that happens among peoples and leaders and to whom every nation must give account. Jeremiah 25 is a solemn reminder of that. The cup in the Lord's hand speaks of His righteous judgment, that He does not overlook pride, tyranny and injustice, but will surely address them in His time and in His way.

That is why your concern about turbulence, pride and strife in the world points to a deeper need, the need for true wisdom. The Bible makes a clear distinction between two kinds of wisdom. There is a wisdom of this world that sounds impressive but leads to envying, confusion and strife, and in the end it comes to nothing. History shows this again and again. Rulers and philosophies that exalt themselves apart from God may gain influence for a season, but they cannot bring lasting peace because the world by its own wisdom does not know God.

There is another wisdom, the wisdom that comes from above. It is first pure, then peaceable, gentle and willing to yield, full of mercy. It does not produce turmoil but brings peace to the heart and then enables peace with others. This wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. That reverence for God is the starting point for understanding rightly. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He is the heart of that wisdom. By wisdom the Lord founded the earth and established the heavens, and by wisdom kings reign and princes decree justice. When leaders lack this wisdom, pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. Before honor must come humility, for God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

So we join you in praying for those in authority. We ask that God would humble proud hearts, grant them wisdom that is not worldly but from above, and turn them from injustice to seek what is right. We pray that they would recognize Him as the ultimate Judge and that many would turn to Him for mercy and salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for He is the Word of life and the Bread from heaven, the only way to the Father.

We also pray this for ourselves. Like wisdom crying out in the streets and at the gates, God is calling us to listen, to incline our ear and apply our heart to understanding, to say to wisdom you are my sister and to make His word the treasure of our hearts. As we walk in obedience and keep His commandments, He keeps us from paths that lead to destruction and fills us with a merry heart and quiet peace even in a troubled world. May the Lord purify our hearts, make us faithful witnesses of His grace and truth where He has placed us, and keep us trusting His sovereign hand over all nations. In Jesus name, Amen.
