Isaiah 26:20 :
Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by.

A Prayer Inspired by Isaiah 26:20:
Our prayer:
Heavenly Father , thank You that You are our safe place in every storm. When the world around us feels loud, uncertain, or overwhelming, help us to hear Your voice calling us to draw close. We enter Your presence today, shutting the door on fear, anxiety, and doubt. Hide us in Your care and keep our heart steady. Grant us patience and quiet trust to wait upon You until this trouble passes, knowing that You hold our life in Your hands. In Jesus' name, Amen."

We join with you in this beautiful prayer and thank you for sharing this word from Isaiah 26:20 which says Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you, hide yourselves for a little while until the indignation has passed over.

We love how you have turned this verse into a prayer to draw close to the Father when the world feels loud and overwhelming. This is exactly what the Lord invites us to do. He does not call us to stand in the storm in our own strength but to hide ourselves in Him. He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble as we read in Psalm 46:1, and we are reminded in Psalm 91:1 that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

In times of uncertainty and noise it can be hard to hear His still small voice, yet Jesus tells us in John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. When we intentionally shut the door on fear and anxiety and enter His presence through prayer and His Word, we position our hearts to hear Him. You rightly call Jesus the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, for He is the Word made flesh who speaks peace to our troubled hearts.

The prophet Isaiah also gives us this promise in Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Perfect peace comes not from the storm passing quickly but from keeping our minds stayed on Him while we wait. We are called to wait with quiet trust, knowing that He holds our lives in His hands and that His indignation will pass and His mercy endures forever.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are our safe place in every storm and our hiding place until trouble passes. We enter Your presence today and we shut the door on fear, anxiety and doubt. Hide us in Your care and keep our hearts steady as we wait upon You. Help us to hear Your voice above the loudness of this world and to follow You with quiet trust and patience. Guard our hearts and minds with Your peace which surpasses all understanding as promised in Philippians 4:7. We rest knowing that You hold our lives in Your hands and that You will never leave us nor forsake us. Keep our minds stayed on You that we may have perfect peace. In Jesus name, Amen.

Thank you for putting words to what so many of us feel right now. When everything around us is loud and uncertain, that longing to hear God's voice and draw close to Him is such a good and honest place to be.

We love the picture you shared of entering His presence and shutting the door on fear and anxiety. That quiet trust often needs a little protected space to grow. One simple thing that helps many of us is to give that moment a real place in the day, even five or ten minutes at the same time, in a quiet room with the door closed and the phone silenced, just to be with the Lord. Not to solve everything at once, but to steady our hearts and remember we are cared for.

Anxiety can touch both mind and body at once, so if you notice ongoing restlessness, trouble sleeping, tension, or worry that makes daily life hard to manage, please reach out to a trusted pastor or counselor and to a medical professional alongside prayer. You do not have to carry this alone.

Father, thank You for being our safe place in every storm. We come to You today and ask You to quiet what is loud within and around us. Hide us in Your care, keep our hearts steady, and give us patient trust as we wait on You, knowing our lives are held in Your hands. In Jesus' name, Amen.

How good is our God to provide a quiet chamber for His people when the storm is loud around them. Your prayer takes hold of a most precious promise, Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you, hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by.

The world indeed is loud and uncertain, and the heart is prone to fear. Yet the Lord has not left His people without a refuge. He Himself is that refuge, and He bids you enter in and shut the door upon fear and anxiety and doubt. To shut the door is to turn the eye away from all other confidences and to wait only upon God. As it is written, My soul, wait thou only upon God, which Calvin renders, My soul, be thou silent before God. Rest calm and undisturbed. They that wait upon the Lord shall not want any good thing. When you have grace just to turn your eye to God, you may walk straight on in confidence, knowing that though the tempest roars, His hand holds your life.

And what a waiting God we have. He waits to be gracious unto us. When everything else has broken down, we come back to God and to salvation through Jesus Christ, and we find the Lord lovingly waiting, graciously waiting, a God ready to pardon. Behold how the heart of God yearns towards His people in His long forbearance. There is a final success to all this waiting, when the waiting turns to a glorious transaction of grace upon the sinner's heart, and the time of love has come.

Therefore fear not. The command comes again and again, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. Fear not, I will help you. It would be disobedience to be afraid when Jesus Himself whispers, Fear not. The fear of man brings a snare, but the quiet fear of God brings blessing. Labor to get rid of fear by waiting confidently and quietly upon Him. In the shadow of Your wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities pass by. There is the true city of refuge for the pursued sinner, even Christ Himself. Run to Him, hide in Him, and you shall be saved, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

May the Lord grant you this patience and quiet trust. May He keep your heart steady, silent before Him, meditating upon His statutes and His mercy, until this trouble passes, knowing that you are eternally secure in Christ, who is forever God and forever man.

We join our prayer with yours. Heavenly Father, thank You that You are our safe place in every storm. When all around is overwhelming, help us to hear Your voice and to draw close. We shut the door on fear and doubt and hide ourselves in Your care. Keep our hearts steady and teach us to wait only upon You with quiet trust, until You bid the storm to pass. Hold our lives in Your hands and keep us in the refuge of Your wings, through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom alone is salvation. Amen.
