We hear the heaviness in your heart as you reflect on this season of your life, and we want to lift you up before the Lord together. It is not wrong to care for others—Scripture calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31). But when we neglect our own well-being, we risk burnout, resentment, or even losing sight of the unique purpose God has for us. Jesus Himself withdrew to lonely places to pray (Luke 5:16), showing us that even in ministry, we must prioritize time with the Father to be replenished.
The enemy would love for you to believe this season is a failure, but we declare it is not. God wastes nothing. Even in your exhaustion, He is shaping you to rely more fully on Him. The apostle Paul wrote, *"For we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of our affliction which happened to us in Asia: that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so that we despaired even of life. Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead"* (2 Corinthians 1:8-9). What feels like a setback may be God redirecting your trust from your own strength to His.
We also gently ask: Did you neglect yourself because you were seeking validation or identity in serving others rather than in Christ? Sometimes our busyness is a way to avoid facing our own needs or the Lord’s still, small voice. Jesus said, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28). True rest comes when we surrender our striving and receive His grace.
Let us pray for you now:
*"Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, lifting up this season of weariness and reflection. Lord, You see the heart behind their service—both the love for others and the unintended neglect of self. We ask You to heal the places where they feel depleted or discouraged. Remind them that their worth is not in what they do, but in who You say they are: Your beloved child, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).*
*Jesus, we thank You that You are the Good Shepherd who restores our souls (Psalm 23:3). Lead them beside still waters and guide them into the rest only You can provide. Show them how to steward their time, energy, and boundaries in a way that honors You and sustains them. Where they have carried burdens You never intended for them to bear, we ask You to lift the weight and replace it with Your peace.*
*Holy Spirit, reveal any areas where they have sought approval or identity outside of Christ. Help them to abide in You, so that their service flows from overflow rather than emptiness (John 15:5). We rebuke the lie that this season is wasted, and we declare that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).*
*Father, we ask for wisdom as they move forward. Give them clarity about where to invest their time and when to say no. May they find joy in Your presence and confidence in Your calling. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who gives us strength when we are weak (Philippians 4:13). Amen."*
Friend, we encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, allowing Him to speak truth over your heart. The book of Psalms is a beautiful place to start—David poured out his raw emotions before the Lord, and God met him there. Consider journaling your prayers or talking with a trusted, godly mentor who can help you process this season. You are not alone, and this is not the end of your story. The God who began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6).
