My grandma got beyond angry today, said "the more you prayer the meaner I get !" Any advice ? Thank you !!!! Yes Jesus is my savior

We are so thankful you shared this with us and we rejoice with you that Jesus is your Savior, for there is no other name by which we can be saved and have access to the Father. As it is written, Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We praise God that you know Him.

We hear the hurt and confusion in your question about your grandma saying the more you pray the meaner I get. We want to encourage you not to be discouraged and not to stop praying, for we are told to pray without ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17 and Men ought always to pray, and not to faint Luke 18:1.

What she said can be painful to hear, but it does not mean your prayers are failing. Scripture tells us our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Often when the light of prayer and the presence of Christ enters a home, it brings conviction, and those who are not yet softened by the Spirit can react with anger or resistance. Jesus Himself said If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you John 15:18. Your prayers may be stirring something in the spiritual realm that she feels but does not understand.

At the same time we want to gently encourage you to examine how and when you are praying so that your prayers are seasoned with love and humility and not perceived as provocation. We are called to honor our elders and our family. You shall rise up before the gray head, and honor the face of an old man Leviticus 19:32 and Honor your father and your mother Exodus 20:12. This includes your grandma. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt Colossians 4:6 and speak the truth in love Ephesians 4:15. If prayers are offered in a way that feels loud or corrective toward her, she may feel judged rather than loved. Jesus teaches us But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret Matthew 6:6. There is great power in quiet, faithful, private prayer for her.

We would advise you to continue to pray fervently for her, but to do so mostly in secret, and to let her see the answer to your prayers through your life. Show her the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22-23. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:21 and do not return evil for evil 1 Peter 3:9. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. Ask God for wisdom, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach James 1:5.

We pray together for you and for your grandma now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and we thank You for this dear one who loves You and seeks to follow You. We ask You to pour out Your peace upon this home. Lord soften grandma's heart and give her a new heart and put a new spirit within her as You have promised in Ezekiel 36:26. Remove any hardness or anger and let Your love and conviction draw her closer to You, not away. We ask You to protect this grandchild from discouragement and help them to honor their grandma with patience and kindness even when it is difficult. Fill them with Your wisdom to know when to speak and when to pray silently, and let their life be a quiet testimony of Your grace. Let Your will be done in this family and let no weapon formed against them prosper. We pray that You would bring reconciliation and understanding and that Your name would be glorified in this home. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep praying, keep loving her with actions more than words, help her practically, speak kindly, and trust God to work in His timing. He hears every prayer and He is faithful.

We can hear how jarring that was, especially when you were trying to love your grandma by praying for her. It hurts when something so close to your heart gets a sharp reaction like that.

Often when someone says something like "the more you pray the meaner I get," the anger is not really about your prayer itself. Anger can be like a signal for something underneath, feeling hurt, frustrated, overwhelmed, or even afraid, or feeling like something important to them is being threatened. Her words may be pointing to something heavy she is carrying right now that she doesn't know how to say more calmly in the moment.

We wouldn't try to explain or debate prayer when she is that heated. It usually helps most to give space for things to cool down, and to keep praying for her quietly in your own time with the Lord rather than in a way that feels confronting to her. You can still show love in steady, small ways she can receive, a kind word, helping with a task, just being present.

When things are calm another day, you might gently let her know you care about her and ask if there is something weighing on her, and just listen without needing to fix it. If you ever feel unsafe, step away and get another family member involved.

Father, we lift this grandchild and their grandma to You. Bring peace into their home and understanding between them. Give wisdom to know when to speak and when to be quiet, and help them both sense Your nearness and care. Guide their steps and draw them closer to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is a painful and perplexing trial to hear such words from one so near and dear to you, and yet there is a meaning in them which is not new. There are those who grow angry with their godly friends not because those friends have injured them, but because they see in them a peace and comfort of religion which they themselves do not possess. When the heart is hard, the very sight of another's prayer and joy becomes a rebuke, and the anger which is really against the truth turns itself against the person who holds it. Our Lord himself looked round with anger, being grieved for the hardness of hearts, for men willfully blinded their eyes to plain truth and would not let him bless them.

You must not understand your grandmother's words to mean that your praying truly makes her meaner, as though prayer itself did evil. It means rather that prayer stirs what is already within. A hard heart does not soften at the sound of prayer, it resists it, and that resistance is felt as irritation and anger. Scripture warns us that a hard heart has no pity and no fellow feeling even for relatives, and we should pity such hardness and pray that the Lord would soften it, rather than return anger for anger. Do not be angry in return, and do not think that you must therefore cease to pray.

Let your sense of this trial lead you not to abhor praying, but to pray the more humbly and wisely. The Holy Spirit never puffs us up with pride, and praying in the Spirit means praying humbly, not as though to display our devotion or to reprove another. See to it that your prayers are not made an occasion for contention. Pray much in secret where your Father sees in secret, and let your life before your grandmother be a watch as well as a prayer. We are taught to pray and to set a watch, to guard with jealous care our own temper and tongue, and to go on with the work of love quietly and faithfully. Let her see that your religion makes you more gentle, more patient, more ready to serve her, not more contentious.

And be encouraged concerning yourself. Since Jesus is your Savior, you may know that the Lord has sworn that he will not be angry with you nor rebuke you as an enemy. He may chasten, but his anger against his people is turned away, and nothing but love guides his hand. He is not angry with you on account of the imperfections of your prayers, but is moved to pity and love toward you. He helps our infirmities in prayer and makes intercession for us according to the will of God. Therefore look for an answer and wait for it. The petition is heard, and though the answer be reserved for a season for the trial of faith, it will come in the Lord's time. You have the promise that if we ask according to his will he hears us.

So continue to pray, but pray with hope and humility. Do not use prayer as a weapon in an argument, but as a mercy seat where you plead for grace. Plead not your own excellence but his name and his mercy, for his name is a pardoning name. Ask him to soften your grandmother's heart and to give you wisdom to walk before her in love, that she may see not a rebuke but a blessing in your home. Show her kindness in small things, speak softly, avoid dispute about religion when her spirit is hot, and watch for quiet opportunities to do good. The Lord can use your watching and praying to bring blessing even where now there is hardness, and he delights to answer the patient, humble cry of his children.
