Weight loss

Disciple of Prayer
I know this may sound silly. I need prayer to lose a lot of weight. I have a lot of health issues and it causes me a lot of pain. I’ve tried every diet I could think of. I can’t do this anymore. It’s driving me mad. Thank you for the prayers.

We hear your cry for help, and we want you to know that your request is not silly at all. Your struggle with weight and the pain it brings is real, and we stand with you in seeking God’s strength and wisdom. The enemy would love to keep you bound in discouragement and despair, but we declare that God has a path of freedom and healing for you. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." This includes the journey toward health and wholeness, even when it feels impossible.

First, we must address the spiritual battle at hand. Gluttony is a sin that can easily entangle us, but it is not the unforgivable sin. The enemy uses shame and hopelessness to keep you trapped in cycles of defeat. We rebuke the spirit of gluttony and the lies that tell you this struggle is too great. We speak truth over you: God’s grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). You are not defined by your weight or your failures, you are defined by Christ, who loves you unconditionally and calls you to walk in freedom.

We also lift up your physical pain and health issues. The Bible reminds us in 3 John 1:2, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." God cares about your body, which is His temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We pray for divine healing over your body, that the Lord would guide you to the right medical professionals, treatments, and lifestyle changes that honor Him. We ask Him to give you wisdom in what you eat, how you move, and how you care for yourself. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

We encourage you to invite the Holy Spirit into this journey. Ask Him to reveal the root causes of your struggle, whether it’s emotional pain, stress, or habits formed over time. Psalm 34:18 says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." If food has become a comfort or escape, we pray that God would fill that void with His peace and presence. Seek accountability from trusted believers who can walk with you, pray for you, and encourage you when the road gets tough.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our sister in her struggle with weight and health. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch to rest upon her body. Ease her pain and give her the strength to press on, even when it feels impossible. We rebuke the spirit of gluttony and the lies of the enemy that tell her she cannot overcome this. We declare that she is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37).

Father, we ask for Your wisdom to guide her in making choices that honor You. Show her the right path to health, whether through diet, exercise, or medical intervention. Give her discipline and self-control, which are fruits of Your Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Surround her with a community of believers who will support and encourage her. Heal any emotional wounds that may be contributing to this struggle, and fill her heart with Your peace.

Lord, we pray for breakthrough. Where she has failed before, we ask for Your grace to succeed now. Help her to see herself through Your eyes, as a beloved child, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Renew her mind with Your truth and give her the courage to keep going, one step at a time. We trust in Your promise that nothing is impossible with You (Luke 1:37).

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Do not lose heart, dear sister. God is with you, and He is faithful. Keep seeking Him, and He will lead you to victory. If you haven’t already, consider surrendering this struggle to Jesus daily, asking Him to walk with you through every temptation and setback. You are not alone in this fight. We will continue to stand with you in prayer.

Thank you for trusting us with this, and please know, it doesn’t sound silly at all. We hear the exhaustion in your words, the pain and the endless effort that has left you feeling stuck and worn down. What you’re dealing with matters deeply, and we’re glad you reached out.

We won’t throw another diet plan at you; you’ve clearly tried so much already. One concrete thing we would gently encourage is connecting with a trusted doctor if you haven’t recently, especially because the health issues and pain are so draining. A physician who listens well can help you sort out the medical side, sometimes there are underlying things that diet alone can’t touch, and you shouldn’t have to keep fighting this alone.

While you wait and keep moving forward, we simply want you to know you’re not forgotten. It’s okay to be honest about how hard this is, and you don’t have to pretend you’re fine. We’ll stand with you in prayer.

Father, we come with this friend who is weary and hurting. You see every ache, every frustrated attempt, every moment of feeling like they can’t go on. Please bring relief, and give them the right help, wise medical care, daily strength to face what feels impossible, and small mercies along the way. Quiet their mind and remind them they are more than what the scale says. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It is no silly thing to be driven to the end of yourself. The failure of every diet, the collapse of all your own striving, this very desperation may be the preface to a success that comes from another quarter entirely. The mistake of looking to man for help, even to your own willpower, is an old lament: "there was no man; even among them, and there was no counselor that, when I asked of them could answer a word." You have asked your own flesh, your own resolutions, and they are silent. Let that failure not drive you to madness, but to the feet of Him whose work cannot fail.

Consider that the weight of the body is not the heaviest burden you carry. The weight of unsanctified care, the weight of a spirit crushed by its own impotence, these press far more terribly. You know the proverb: a robe bedizened with gold dazzles the beholder but oppresses the wearer. So it is with a life fixed upon earthly comfort. You long for health and ease, and no one condemns that desire, but if you gained the perfect frame tomorrow, it would still be a poor house for a soul that remains restless. The profit of a sound body, compared to the loss of a quieted heart in God, would indeed be a dreadful loss.

See in your bodily pain a shadow of that spiritual pain which proves you are not dead. A man says, "I know I am alive because I feel so ill." Rheumatic ache is as rare a proof of life as a thrill of delight. Your sorrow over this failing frame, your anxiety and even your anger, these are not marks of a graceless state. They are the smoke of a smoldering flax, and He who is God's Delight will not quench it. Do not cast away your confidence because your flesh wars against you.

The secret of your failure so far has been its misplaced hope. You have looked to a law of eating, a rule of abstinence, to do what it cannot do. The law can tell you what is right, can even scourge you for breaking it, but it cannot heal you. It is too weak to save one poor sinner from his appetite. The failure does not lie in the scale or even in the body itself, it lies in a kind of unbelief that expects deliverance from a mere system. That lack of faith breaks the connection between you and the strength of Christ.

Yet even this failure has divine instruction. It is a tutor to drive you to the One who Himself purged our sins. There is a weight and force about His actions that our own deeds never possess. His work for you did not fall short; His call to you does not end in defeat. You ask for prayers, and we pray. But more, I would have you taste the marrow of this truth: that the Son of God, the Father's chosen Servant in whom His soul delights, will not fail in His office. He has undertaken for His people, and their poor, aching flesh is no obstacle to Him.

Seek, then, the health of your countenance, which is God Himself. In your darkest moment, when the mind is throbbing with care and the body with pain, there is another self that can dwell in God, where all is calm. "For yet I know I shall Him praise, / Who graciously gave to me, / The health of my countenance, / Yes, my own God is He." Let this be your refuge. You cannot enjoy His company by feasting on the world, nor do you need to. Nothing can make up for the loss of His felt presence, but know that your very pain, your smarting, your sense of exile from health, these prove you have life enough to thirst for Him. Cast the whole maddening weight upon Him. He will not prove a failure.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
