Weight loss

Disciple of Prayer
I have tried and tried to lose weight. However the scale does not change. I am not over eating. This is the truth. Please pray that I will lose 50 pounds within next 4 months ###.

We understand your frustration and desire for a healthy body, and we commend you for seeking prayer in this struggle. The Lord cares deeply about every aspect of our lives, including our physical well-being, and He invites us to cast all our cares upon Him. However, we must first address something important: your request does not mention the name of Jesus or acknowledge His authority in this matter. The Bible is clear that we have access to the Father *only* through the Son, Jesus Christ. As it is written in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* Additionally, Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* Before we pray, we urge you to examine your heart: Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If not, we implore you to repent of your sins and place your faith in Him alone for salvation. Without Christ, our prayers are empty, and our efforts are in vain.

Now, regarding your struggle with weight loss, we must also address the attitude of your heart in this request. While it is not wrong to desire a healthy body, we are concerned by the demand for a *specific* amount of weight loss within a *specific* timeframe. This suggests an attempt to dictate terms to God rather than submitting to His will. Proverbs 19:21 reminds us, *"Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail."* And James 4:13-15 warns, *"Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.' Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.'"* Your focus should not be on a number on the scale but on honoring God with your body, which is His temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Weight loss should be approached with patience, perseverance, and trust in God’s timing, not with demands or deadlines.

We also encourage you to examine whether there may be underlying issues—spiritual, emotional, or physical—that are hindering your progress. Sometimes, weight struggles can be tied to stress, hormonal imbalances, lack of sleep, or even spiritual strongholds such as gluttony or idolatry of food. In 1 Corinthians 10:31, we are told, *"Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."* Are you eating and exercising in a way that glorifies Him? Are you seeking His wisdom in how to steward your body? Or is there perhaps an area of disobedience or unconfessed sin that is hindering your progress? The Bible warns in Isaiah 59:1-2, *"Behold, Yahweh’s hand is not shortened, that it can’t save; nor his ear dull, that it can’t hear. But your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear."*

Let us also remind you that God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), and His priority is often the transformation of our hearts more than our outward circumstances. Romans 12:1-2 urges, *"Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."* Perhaps the Lord is using this struggle to draw you closer to Him, to teach you reliance on His strength rather than your own, or to refine your character in perseverance and faith.

With these things in mind, let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You alone are sovereign over our bodies, our health, and every aspect of our lives. Lord, we lift up our sister who is struggling with her weight and feeling discouraged by the lack of progress. Father, forgive her if she has approached this matter with a demanding spirit rather than a submissive heart. Teach her to trust in Your timing and Your ways, for You know what is best for her. Search her heart, O God, and reveal to her any area of sin, idolatry, or disobedience that may be hindering her progress. If there is any hidden stronghold—whether it be gluttony, emotional eating, or a lack of discipline—we ask that You would bring it to light and give her the strength to overcome it by Your Spirit.

Lord, we pray that You would grant her wisdom to steward her body in a way that honors You. Guide her in making healthy choices in her diet and exercise, not out of vanity or the approval of man, but out of a desire to glorify You. Help her to see food as fuel for her body rather than a source of comfort or control. Give her the discipline to eat in moderation and the perseverance to move her body in ways that promote health. Father, we also ask that You would heal any physical imbalances—whether hormonal, metabolic, or otherwise—that may be contributing to her struggle. You are Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals, and nothing is too difficult for You.

Most importantly, Lord, draw her closer to Yourself through this trial. Let her find her satisfaction in You alone, not in food or in the approval of the scale. Remind her that her worth is found in Christ and not in her outward appearance. Strengthen her faith to trust in Your perfect plan for her life, even when she cannot see the progress she desires. Fill her with Your peace and joy as she seeks to honor You in this area.

We rebuke any spiritual strongholds or lies of the enemy that would seek to discourage her or keep her in bondage. By the power of the name of Jesus, we command every hindrance—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—to be removed from her life. Let her break free from any cycle of defeat and walk in the victory that Christ has already won for her.

Father, we ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who gave Himself for us that we might be free indeed. May Your will be done in her life, and may she bring glory to Your name in all things. Amen.

Finally, sister, we encourage you to seek the Lord earnestly in this matter. Spend time in His Word, asking Him to reveal His truth to you. Consider fasting and praying, not as a means to manipulate God but as a way to humble yourself before Him and seek His face. Surround yourself with believers who can support and encourage you in this journey. And remember, the Lord is more concerned with the condition of your heart than the number on the scale. Trust in Him, and He will guide you in the path you should go (Proverbs 3:5-6).

If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins to Him, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. Without Him, true and lasting change is impossible. But with Him, *all things* are possible (Matthew 19:26). May the Lord bless you and keep you as you seek Him with all your heart.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God Loves You. Thank You Jesus!!!

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer as you seek God’s help in your journey toward health and wholeness. It takes courage to share such a personal struggle, and we have been lifting you up daily, asking the Lord to strengthen your resolve, renew your mind, and guide your steps toward His best for you.

If the Lord has already begun to answer this prayer—whether through steady progress, a shift in perspective, or even small victories along the way—we would love to celebrate with you. Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together in His faithfulness.

If the scale hasn’t yet reflected the change you’re believing for, we encourage you to post this request again and allow us to continue interceding on your behalf. Weight loss is often a process that involves more than just physical discipline—it can be a spiritual and emotional journey as well. We’ll keep praying for God’s wisdom, self-control, and peace to guard your heart as you press forward.

Above all, we pray that you would draw closer to the Lord in this season, trusting Him not just with the number on the scale, but with every part of your life. May He meet you in your hunger—both for physical health and for His presence—and fill you with His strength and hope. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
