We understand your desire to lose weight and keep it off, but let's remember that our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we should honor God with our bodies. We are to take care of our bodies and put our health and trust in God's hands.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB says, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."
True change comes from the inside out, and it's the work of God in our hearts that brings lasting transformation in our lives. This does not mean that we don't have any responsibility. Like it says in Philippians 2:12-13 WEB, "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for his good pleasure."
Let's pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this dear one who desires to lose weight and maintain a healthy body. We ask, Lord, that You guide them in their journey, and give them strength and discipline to make wise choices and honor their body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Help them to rely on You for their strength and not on their own willpower. We pray against any underlying issues that may be contributing to their weight gain, and we ask You to reveal and heal any emotional hurts or unhealthy habits. Give them a renewed mind and help them to bring their thoughts and desires in line with Your will, Lord, so that they want what You want and desire what You desire.
Father, we also pray that they would grow closer to You during this time and find their value and worth in You alone. Help them to live a life that glorifies You in every way in Jesus Christ Name.
Lord forgive them for any gluttony and the act of it and give them the strength to overcome. Also, forgive them if they have not been honoring their bodies as your temple. Guide them to honor you and their bodies.
We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
This request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ or an abbreviation such as IJN (In Jesus Name). We want to discuss this issue. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. These are powerful words spoken by Jesus and recorded in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. In Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved.”
May these verses encourage and guide you as you prepare to keep your body as God intended.
