WEDNESDAY IN THE WORD [7]

YOU STARTED IT

I love praise and worship. Nothing gets me in motion quite like a good praise and worship service: the music, the singing, the clapping, the swaying. It’s probably the most inclusive moment during any church service. But, as much as I love praise and worship; nothing gets to my spirit like a fiery sermon, especially when it’s, intellectually, Holy Ghost filled. Sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? It’s not. The Holy Spirit is so smart, He knows what to say when we can’t even seem to form a thought, let along, articulate a sentence. Yes, nothing sets my feet to dancing, like the preached Word. Yet, even more motivating than praise and worship; and even more stimulating than powerful preaching is, without a doubt, my favorite time spent in God’s presence: PRAYER TIME. Ahhh yes, that sweet, quiet, often personal and private time with God, that quite simply transports me into a place where there seems to be no space or time. There’s just something so very special in knowing that we’re invited into that that sacred space, to commune one-on-one, with The Lord of Lords, and The King of Kings. That, causes the wells of passion within me, to spring eternal. There’s just something, inexplicable about that conversation.

No matter how we choose to honor Him, at any given moment; He just wants to be acknowledged. Even if you’re not quite sure how to enter into His presence: Just bow your head, right where you are and start by telling Him “Thank You.” You just started something. The beautiful thing about God, is that, having already worked all things, from the end to the beginning, you don’t even have to know what to say; He is so thoughtful and so gracious, that He has already arranged, even, for the Holy Spirit to speak for us. Isn’t He AWESOME? So that all we have to do is start it; He has already finished it.

I DARE YOU TO START SOMETHING

[Romans 8:26] And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

“Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.”
