Humble Servant of All
Lord please give us sunshine on our holiday. We need it so much. Please Lord bless us as we have waited for this for so long.

We hear your heartfelt plea for sunshine during your long-awaited holiday, and we join you in bringing this request before our Heavenly Father. The Bible reminds us in Matthew 5:45 that God "makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust." While we may not always understand His plans, we trust in His perfect timing and provision.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for the opportunity this family has to rest and enjoy time together. Lord, we ask that You would bless their holiday with sunshine, lifting their spirits and allowing them to fully embrace this special time. We know that every good and perfect gift comes from You, and we trust in Your goodness and mercy. If it is Your will, Father, let the skies be clear and the warmth of the sun shine upon them. But above all, may they feel Your presence and peace, knowing that You are in control. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We also encourage you to remember that while sunshine can bring joy, true contentment comes from the Lord. In Philippians 4:11-12, Paul writes, "Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. I know how to be humbled, and I know how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need." May you find joy in the Lord regardless of the weather, and may this holiday be a time of spiritual refreshment as well.

If your holiday plans include worship or time in God’s Word, we pray that those moments would be especially sweet. May the Lord bless you with memories that will last a lifetime, and may you return from this time away feeling refreshed in body, mind, and spirit.

We hear the weariness behind your request, the hope that this long-awaited holiday will finally bring some brightness and relief. That kind of longing is something we understand, and we’re glad you brought it here.

We join you in asking God for sunshine. There’s nothing wrong with praying for good weather, and we do so with you. At the same time, holidays can carry a quiet weight: when we’ve waited so long, we can start to believe that everything must go perfectly for us to truly rest or feel blessed. That pressure can steal the very peace we’re seeking. So while we ask for sun, we also ask that God’s presence be your deepest refreshment, whether the skies are clear or gray. He knows what you need more fully than we do.

So we’ll pray simply.

Lord, you know how much this holiday means to them and how long they have waited. We ask for sunshine and calm weather, if it pleases you. But above all, we ask that you meet them in this time with your nearness and peace. Quiet their minds from all that has drained them, and let this be a season of real rest, no matter what the forecast holds. In Jesus’ name, amen.

It is a small thing to ask for sunshine upon a holiday, yet see that your soul does not make its chief blessing the comfort of the flesh. I hear the ache in your waiting, but what is this craving for fair weather when He has already given you the Sun of Righteousness to rise upon your spirit with healing in His wings? I never felt any inclination to ascribe the great blessing of confidence in Christ and consequent full justification to any uncreated willingness of mine. I was made willing in the day of His power, and to God I must give the glory! Does the Lord who made heaven and earth need to be told our weather? He who commanded the light to shine out of darkness can speak into our darkness and cheer the gloom of our despair.

If you are in Christ, you are blessed already with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places. Bow your head, believer, and let the Lord God pronounce on you this benediction: Surely, blessing I will bless you. Sorrowing, suffering, weary, burdened, yet is the blessing not one whit curtailed! What then if the clouds gather and the rain descends? Shall a true-born heir of heaven grumble at a passing shower when his inheritance is the eternal glory? Faith first receives the blessing and then produces holy work. We will not allow the effect to take the place of the cause, but we are equally sure that the effect follows after the cause. Wait on the Lord with a joyous and assured hope. They are not waiting in despair, they are waiting in hope. No, no counting, only waiting till the glory has begun.

Set your heart rather upon being a blessing wherever you are than grasping after physical ease. When God has blessed any man, He makes that man to be a blessing to others. The Lord fills him that he may overflow with blessing for those around him. Is there a soul on that holiday ground you could not have reached under happier circumstances? Might you be sent there, sun or no sun, to be a blessing? Oh, for the faith which is truly a blessing because we endeavor to make other people happy wherever we may be! Perhaps a little waiting, even for that sunlight, may be good for us. And by waiting, we may find out the true path of success. But know this firmly: if He has spoken a covenant blessing over you, God will not suffer one single promise of the Covenant to be unfulfilled, nor one single blessing of the Covenant to be kept back, not even the discipline of an overcast Tuesday. My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You are troubled about sunshine for your holiday, but can you read the sky and not discern the signs of the times? When you say, "We need it so much," you confess that your heart clings to what is carnal, a blessing like those given to the Jews: fruit of the body, going out and coming in. But we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. You are made immortal, a son, a fellow-heir; what do you lack?

For this fleeting breath of fair weather, which is but a shadow, a flower, a tale that vanishes, you are full of anxiety. Yet if you had waited so long for this rest, how much more should your soul pant after the eternal rest, where the Sun of Righteousness never sets? Do not imitate the generation that seeks a sign from heaven; seek first His kingdom, and these things will be added. Let your prayer be for the warmth of alms and good deeds, the fulness of the blessing of the Gospel.

For Jacob possessed the promise, yet spent his days in servitude and fear, while the ungodly lived at ease; the true blessing was not for this world. Learn to stand aloof from carnal desires, and you will count the weather a small thing, content to be cast only at the feet of Jesus, who brings healing and the glad tidings. That is the sunshine no cloud can dim.

You have waited so long for this holiday, and the desire for sunshine is a genuine cry of the heart. It is not wrong to ask God for such things; He cares about what brings us joy. Yet as I have come to see, the deepest blessings often unfold when we stop trying to force a particular outcome and instead learn to wait on Him in trust.

Consider how Jacob was promised the blessing from before his birth, but instead of waiting for God to bring it to pass, he and his mother schemed to obtain it by their own devices. What followed was years of exile and sorrow. The blessing was still his, but the path of impatience added unnecessary pain. God is faithful to His promises without our frantic manipulation. So bring your request before the Lord, but then rest in His love. He has already declared over you, as a child of Abraham through faith, “In blessing I will bless you.” That covenant holds steady regardless of the forecast.

The lack of God’s tangible provision is rarely due to a lack of devotion or religious effort; it is more often a matter of simple trust. You are an heir, waiting for the appointed time to step into your inheritance, and in the meantime He is training you to handle His blessings. Paul prayed that our hearts would be directed into the love of God and into patient waiting for Christ, the same Christ who shed the Spirit on us abundantly. That waiting is not passive; it is a confident expectation that God will work things out, far better than we could engineer.

So as you set out on this holiday, let it become a time of remembrance. Think back on every deliverance He has already given you, just as the Passover holiday was designed to recall how He brought His people out of bondage. The goodness of God leads us to repentance and to a richer faith. Even if the skies are grey, His presence remains bright. The weather does not define His blessing; His Spirit within you is the guarantee of a life so full you can scarcely contain it. Wait on Him, and you will discover that His timing and His provision, whatever they look like, are always good.
