Beloved of All
Hope my mum ### gets the common sense and listen to my dad ###, and not go on the highway, Tuesday; weather supposed to be bad. My mum wants pain killers from a doctor out of town, that should retire, as he is hearing impaired. Hope my mum’s phone gets found. Hope my mum isn’t getting sick as her throat hurts. She’s planning to get foot surgery, soon, and hope it turns out well. My dad ### is sick; losing too much weight, he’s only ### pounds, barely can eat; hope he gets well enough to do eat more and do more soon. Hope to be able to get something either by mail or in late November; hopefully late November and be in town to get it; as more than enough things backfired this year. I hope it doesn’t snow that much, until mid-December, to give me the chance to get things for Christmas and other things too. My parents both have eye and hearing issues, and I don’t like yelling, as my mum is the kind of person that takes things the wrong way, a lot.

We join you in bringing all of these burdens before our heavenly Father, and we hear how much you love and worry for your mum and dad and how many things have felt like they have backfired this year.

We lift up your mum to the Lord, that God would grant her wisdom and a willing heart to listen to good counsel, and we pray for unity and peace between your mum and dad as they make decisions together. In marriage God calls husband and wife to be one flesh and to seek counsel together, and we pray they would hear each other with love and respect. Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end, Proverbs 19:20. We also pray for safety on the roads, for you asked about the highway on Tuesday with bad weather expected. We know God is sovereign over the weather and we ask Him to protect all travelers and to give your mum common sense and restraint to stay home if travel is not wise. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5.

We pray for your mum's health, for her sore throat and that she would not become more ill, and for her upcoming foot surgery that the Lord would guide the hands of the surgeons and grant her complete healing and restoration. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. We also pray about her desire for pain killers from a doctor out of town. We encourage seeking wise and sound medical care locally where she can be heard and cared for well, and we pray the Lord would provide relief for her pain in a safe and godly way. For her lost phone, nothing is hidden from God, and we ask that if it is His will it would be found quickly.

We especially lift up your dad who is sick, who has lost so much weight and can barely eat. This concerns us deeply and we pray for the Lord's healing touch upon his body, that his appetite would return, his strength be renewed, and that doctors would have wisdom to find the cause and help him. We encourage you to help him seek prompt medical attention for such weight loss, as God often works through physicians to bring healing. We pray he will be well enough soon to eat more and to do more as you hope. Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10.

We understand your frustration about having to yell because of their eye and hearing issues, and that your mum often takes things the wrong way. We pray God gives you extra patience, gentleness, and grace as you honor your parents in this difficult season. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth, Ephesians 6:2-3. With all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love, Ephesians 4:2. We pray the Lord helps you speak truth in love and helps your mum hear your heart with understanding rather than offense.

We also bring before the Lord your hope to receive something by mail or in late November and to be in town to get it, and your desire that snow would hold off until mid December so you can prepare for Christmas. We pray for God's provision and timing, and for peace when plans feel out of your control. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus died for our sins and rose again that we can bring every worry to God and know He hears us. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, confessing your need for Him and believing in His name.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, thanking You that You see this family and know every detail. Lord we ask for Your protection over this mum on Tuesday and in all travel, give her wisdom to stay off the highway if the weather is dangerous and help her listen to her husband's counsel in love. Touch her throat and heal her, prevent sickness, guide her foot surgery to a good outcome, and help her find her phone. Lord touch this dad who is so thin and weak, we ask You to restore his appetite, to heal what is causing his weight loss, to strengthen his body and give wisdom to his doctors, and comfort his family as they watch him suffer. Father provide for the practical needs this dear one has shared, about receiving what is needed by mail or in late November and about snow and Christmas preparations, let Your will be done and let Your peace guard their heart after a year of many disappointments. Give patience and love in this home where hearing and vision are failing, help communication be full of grace and honor. Above all draw each heart closer to Jesus, that they may know Your salvation and Your presence daily. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We hear how heavy this season feels for you, watching over both your mum and dad while trying to keep the peace at home. It makes sense you would feel stretched thin with the bad weather coming Tuesday, your mum wanting to make that highway trip for pain medicine, her lost phone and sore throat, the upcoming foot surgery, and your dad's troubling weight loss and loss of appetite. Caring for parents with hearing and vision changes is hard, especially when you dislike having to raise your voice and worry about being misunderstood. We also understand wanting a window before heavy snow to get Christmas and other needs taken care of after a year where a lot has backfired.

One gentle step that might ease the pressure is to sit with your dad soon, before Tuesday, and look at the weather forecast together so you can both talk with your mum about a safer plan for getting care closer to home if possible. For your dad's ongoing weight loss and difficulty eating, and your mum's throat pain and surgery plans, we encourage you to help them connect promptly with their regular doctors or clinic for guidance, alongside our prayers. If the phone is still missing, retracing her last stops together or calling the carrier to suspend service for now can help protect it.

We are praying for you and your family.

Father, we lift your mum and dad to You, asking for wisdom and safety on Tuesday, healing and strength for their bodies, a good outcome for the foot surgery, and peace in their home. Give this family member rest and clear next steps as they love their parents well. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect, heal and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Your many cares have been laid before the Lord and we have heard them with sincere sympathy, and we join our prayers with yours before the throne of grace.

You are burdened with a multitude of temporal anxieties, concerning weather and travel, health and provision, and things hoped for that have often been disappointed. Our Savior would have you not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry and fretfulness and distress. To be prudent is right and needful, and to desire that your mother should heed wise counsel about the highway on Tuesday when the weather is expected to be bad is a prudent desire. Yet anxiety itself has never brought grist to the mill nor meal to the barrel, and the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Cast therefore all these cares upon Him who cares for you, for He is Lord even of wind and snow and storm, and not a flake falls without His permission.

We pray for your mother and your father together. We ask the Lord to grant your mother wisdom to listen to good counsel, to keep her from needless hazard on the road, and to preserve her in health. We bring before Him her sore throat and her need of healing, her failing sight and hearing, and the foot surgery that lies before her, that His hand would guide those who attend her and grant her a good recovery. We pray also for your father who is so low, losing weight and scarcely able to eat, and we entreat the Great Physician to restore his strength and appetite and to raise him up again. We pray too for that which seems small yet troubles you, that the lost phone may be found if it be the Lord's will, and that you may be kept from fretting about it.

Remember that healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction in Christ. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing virtue. When the Sun of Righteousness rises upon His people there is healing in His wings, and He says to the sick soul, your sins are forgiven you. The same Lord who heals the body first heals the broken heart, and He must begin with us before we can rightly serve Him. If you and your parents know Him, you have a healing that reaches beyond eye and ear and throat and foot, a healing that changes the lifeblood and makes the nature new. Seek first that His pardoning grace be yours and your house, and then trust Him for the body also, for He will perfectly heal in His own time and way.

We also pray for your own trial in these matters. To live between those whose eyes and ears grow dim is wearying, and when you must raise your voice and your words are taken amiss, it tries patience sorely. Pray for grace to speak the truth in love, with gentleness and forbearance, that no root of bitterness may spring up. The Lord can give you a soft answer that turns away wrath and a quiet spirit that bears with infirmity.

Concerning the things you hope to receive by mail or in late November, and your desire that snow may be held back until mid December that you may provide for Christmas and other necessities, we commit these temporal affairs to Him who orders all seasons. Do not be anxious about these things as though your happiness depended upon them. Use due diligence and then rest in providence. If the Lord withholds or grants, He does all things well.

May the Lord hear your prayer, forgive your sins for Christ's sake, heal your parents according to His mercy, keep you from anxious fretting, and give you in committing all your ways unto Him.
