Silas
Beloved of All
What you are feeling is not unknown to the Lord, and your weariness is not a sign that His eye has left you. There is a kind of labor that goes all the way to exhaustion, and only love can carry a person there. That you have been tithing and praying while standing on His promise is the work of faith, and that work is precious in His sight even when the visible result is delayed.
We read that through faith and patience the saints of old inherited the promises. The delay does not mean the promise has been withdrawn. The farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and has long patience for it, until he receives the early and latter rains. You are asking for the harvest from the seed you have sown, and that is exactly the kind of waiting that refines hope. Hope that is seen is not hope at all, but we wait for it with patience. The Lord has not forgotten the tithes and offerings given in trust.
His timing is tied to a far larger harvest than we can see from our own field. The husbandman is waiting for the complete fruit of harvest, and He is full of pity and tender mercy. He knows the ache of longing for a door to open that instead has closed for now. That interview that went to another person is not the boundary of His provision. He who fed Israel in the wilderness still owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and He is patient to bring about every promise in its season.
Let the comfort of the Scriptures anchor your soul. You have need of patience so that after you have done the will of God you might obtain the promise. What He is developing in you right now is a deeper capacity to wait with a quiet heart, not giving way to resentment or despair. The Lord who is waiting for the final harvest is the same Lord who is working now to prepare you for what He will bring forth. Do not despise the hidden work of the waiting season.
The promise you are standing on in Joel is true. The years the locusts have eaten are not permanently lost to the God who restores. He does not take your faithful offerings lightly. The firstfruits belong to Him, and He honors the heart that gives them even when the cupboard feels bare. He is not a debtor, and He will not fail to bring the increase in His way and His moment.
Hold fast. Establish your heart. The just shall live by faith, not by the calendar or the bank statement. A harvest is coming. Rest in the God of patience and consolation, whose timing is never late and whose mercy never runs out.
