We need hot water in my house

My apartment building has no hot water because the heating system is being repaired. They promised it would be fixed on Tuesday, but they didn't finish. Please pray everything will be finished by tomorrow. It is impossible to shower in ice cold water… Please pray for a solution, and that I won't have to move. Please pray that God provides an alternative home.

We join together with you in bringing this very practical and trying need before our Father in heaven in Jesus name. We understand how difficult it is to live without hot water, especially when you were given a promise that it would be restored and that promise was not kept. Even these daily comforts and necessities matter to God, for He cares for every detail of our lives.

We are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And also in 1 Peter 5:7, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently share with you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and that our prayers are heard. As it is written in John 14:6, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by putting our faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly to His throne of grace. If you have not yet trusted in Him, we encourage you to call upon His name today, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Together we pray for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We lift up this dear one to You and ask for Your mercy and provision regarding the hot water in their apartment building. Lord, You see the discomfort and the frustration of waiting and the cold that makes daily life so hard. We ask that You would move upon the workers and the management, that the repairs to the heating system would be completed quickly and properly, and if it is Your will, that it would be finished by tomorrow as they have hoped. Give skill and diligence to those doing the work and remove any obstacle or delay.

Lord, we also pray for a solution in the meantime and for peace while they wait. Provide wisdom for how to manage, whether it is heating water or finding temporary help nearby, and keep them in good health. We ask for Your provision regarding their home. Your Word says in Philippians 4:19, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And in Matthew 6:31-33, Therefore dont be anxious, saying, What will we eat, What will we drink or, With what will we be clothed For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first Gods Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Father, if it is Your will for them to remain in this apartment, we pray You would make it habitable and comfortable again and that they would not have to move. If You have a better alternative home for them, we pray You would make that path clear and provide it according to Your perfect will. Give them wisdom and discernment and peace about the decision, trusting that You work all things together for good for those who love You as Romans 8:28 teaches.

We cast this burden upon You, Lord, trusting in Psalm 55:22, Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. Fill their heart with Your peace and patience as they wait upon You. May they feel Your nearness and Your care in this small but very real trial.

We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only hope. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord in this waiting period and to communicate graciously yet firmly with your building management about the timeline. If possible, you might ask a neighbor, friend, or family member for help with showering for a day or two, or carefully heat water on the stove for washing until the system is restored. Keep bringing every worry to the Lord, for He hears and He cares. We will continue to pray that the work is completed swiftly and that God provides exactly the home you need.

Father, we bring this apartment and the workers repairing the system to You. Please give skill and provision for the work to be completed soon, provide a warm and safe way to wash in the meantime, and give wisdom about whether to stay or look for another home. We have heard your request and have brought it before the Lord with you. To be without hot water in your own home is a real trial, and to face ice cold water each day and the uncertainty of when the repairs will be finished tries both body and spirit. We understand your desire for a swift solution and for stability, that you would not be forced to move, and we pray with you for the Lord's provision.

Scripture teaches us that waiting is part of the discipline of Christ and part of the patience which the Scriptures both inculcate and produce. You are in a place of waiting, and as one has said, waiting exercises patience and that is a good thing, for patience is one of the choice gifts of God. We have heard of the patience of Job, not the patience of a perfect man but of a man like ourselves, a greatly tried man who learned to endure under personal affliction. His patience was not the patience of one who cannot complain, but the patience of a child who believes in his Father's love. The Lord waits that He may be gracious unto us, and His people wait upon Him in hope, not in despair, with a joyous and assured hope of blessedness in reserve.

Waiting upon God is like a servant waiting upon his lord, anxious to know what his master wishes, or like a traveler waiting for his guide. It is the way to renew our strength and to find peace within the soul. When we wait upon the Lord, we receive mysterious strength through His Spirit, we grow small in our own eyes and see our trials in their true littleness, and we are kept at rest within though outward things remain unsettled. Even this small trial of cold water and delayed repairs can be a school for such patience, endearing the blessing when it comes so that we have both the joy of waiting for the joy and the joy of enjoying it when it comes.

Let us pray together.

Our gracious Father, we thank You that You wait to be gracious and that You hear the prayers of Your people through Jesus Christ alone. We ask You to be merciful to our brother and sister in this need. We pray that You would move upon those who are repairing the heating system, that the work would be completed quickly and well, and that hot water would be restored by tomorrow if it be Your will. Grant wisdom to the building managers and skill to the workers, and keep all safe as they labor.

Lord, give peace and patience in this waiting, and renew strength day by day. Provide comfort in the cold and guard from sickness. If it is Your will that a move should not be necessary, we pray You would make this dwelling habitable and secure again. If in Your providence another home is needed, we pray You would in Your kindness provide an alternative that is safe, affordable and near, according to Your perfect provision. Above all, let this waiting draw the heart to wait only upon You, to trust Your timing and to know Your nearness.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our only hope and Saviour. Amen.

Your need for hot water and the uncertainty about your home has been heard and I am praying with you. To be without hot water, especially when a repair was promised and then delayed, is a real hardship, and it is understandable that showering in cold water feels impossible and that you are worried about having to move.

Scripture teaches that patience is learned over time and through affliction, and that patience and hope strengthen each other. God calls us to wait for His help with patient trust, and He also sustains us while we wait. Christ spoke of the living water of the Spirit that cleanses and refreshes the soul like a garden that is always flourishing, and that promise shows how much God cares to renew us inwardly. That care does not make bodily needs unimportant. He invites us to bring practical needs like water and shelter to Him as well.

So I pray for you now that the Lord will provide for you. I ask that He would guide those who are repairing the heating system and that the work would be finished quickly, as you hope by tomorrow. I ask that He would give you a workable solution for daily washing and living in the meantime, that He would give you endurance and peace while you wait, and that He would make it clear whether you can remain in your apartment or whether He will provide another suitable home if a move is needed. May He keep you from unnecessary hardship and open the right doors according to His wisdom and mercy.

Continue to bring this request before Him with confidence, trusting that He hears and provides in the way that is best. You are not alone in this and you remain in prayer.
