We need hot and clean water in my house

Thank you for sharing what you have been going through and for inviting prayer. Going two weeks without hot water is a real hardship, and we understand how discouraging it is to still feel cold after showering and to see black particles coming from the tap. We are thankful with you that lukewarm water has returned, and we join you in praying that it will become fully hot and clean very soon. We are also praying for your health, for the flu and headache to lift and for relief from the dermatitis and skin irritation, which must be even harder to bear when the water itself is not clean.

The Lord sees these practical, everyday afflictions and He cares about them. Scripture calls Him the God of all comfort, who stands by His people in hard places, dark nights and difficult situations to strengthen and encourage them. In times of trial, sorrow and even personal weariness, He draws near to lift and comfort. We have prayed that you would know His nearness and comfort in your home right now, and that His peace would steady you while these repairs continue.

There is a beautiful wish in the letter of 3 John where John writes that he wishes his friend would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospers. That is not presented as a guarantee that we will never be sick, but as a loving wish, and it points to a real connection God has made between our inner life and our physical health. Proverbs says a joyful heart does good like medicine, and we are learning more and more how true that is. Strain, worry and discouragement can affect the body, while peace and hope in the Lord can help the body toward health. We pray for the prospering of your soul as you rest in Christ, and that this would bring strength and refreshment to your body as well.

We also bring your need for healing to the Lord who has shown His power over the physical realm. When Matthew writes about Jesus healing many who were brought to Him, including Peter's mother in law and many others in the evening, he connects it to the prophecy of Isaiah that He bore our infirmities and our sicknesses. In the same way, when Jesus broke bread He said this is my body broken for you. The provision God made for the incurable problem of sin also includes His compassion for our bodily infirmities. He is able to heal, and we ask Him for that for you.

At the same time we recognize that healing comes in different ways. Jesus did not use His power to meet His own physical needs but freely used it for others, and sometimes healing was immediate and sometimes it was gradual. There is much we do not fully understand about why some are healed quickly and others more slowly. All true healing is from God, whether it comes in a moment or through the natural processes He has built into our bodies. The way our bodies repair and recover is itself a divine provision from the Creator of nature. We pray for His healing touch on your flu, headache and skin, whether through a quick work or through the gradual, orderly healing He has placed within you, and we encourage you to continue to seek appropriate care for the water system and for your health as God provides help through practical means.

The Scriptures were written for our learning so that through patience and comfort they might give us hope. They show us that God is patient as He works out His purposes and that He is faithful to come through and keep His promises. Because He is the God of patience and comfort, we can have hope that He will meet our needs. We are praying that the Scriptures will comfort you and give you patience and hope as you wait for these needs to be fully met.

So we pray now in the name of Jesus that the Lord would provide completely hot and clean water in your home without delay, that the source of the black particles would be found and cleared, and that you would be able to wash and bathe in warmth and cleanliness again. We ask Him to ease your headache, lift the flu, soothe the dermatitis and irritation, and restore you to health. May He comfort you in this season of discomfort, strengthen you each day, and let you experience His love and care in very practical ways.
