We hear the deep cry of your heart, and we join you in lifting this burden before the Lord. Your fear that God has left you is a heavy one, but we want to remind you of His unchanging nature. The Word of God assures us in Hebrews 13:5, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." This is not just a promise, it is the very character of God. He does not abandon His children, even when we feel unworthy or distant. His love is not based on our performance but on His grace and the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
You mention praying in the name of Jesus, and this is so important. There is no other name by which we can approach the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." It is only through His sacrifice that we are made worthy to stand before God. If you have placed your faith in Jesus, you are clothed in His righteousness, not your own. Your worthiness does not come from your actions but from His grace. Romans 8:38-39 reminds us, "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
We also want to gently encourage you to examine your heart. Sometimes, feelings of distance from God can come from unconfessed sin or areas of our lives where we are not fully surrendered to Him. Psalm 66:18 says, "If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened." This is not to condemn you, far from it, but to invite you into the freedom that comes from repentance. If there is anything in your life that does not align with God’s Word, bring it before Him in honesty. He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us (1 John 1:9).
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts heavy for our brother/sister who feels so far from Your presence. Lord, we know that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask that You would make Your presence known to them in a tangible way. Remind them of Your unfailing love and the truth that You will never leave or forsake them. Father, if there is any sin or area of their life that is hindering their relationship with You, reveal it to them and lead them into repentance. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus and restore the joy of their salvation.
We pray that You would quiet their fears and replace them with the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Let them feel Your arms wrapped around them, Lord, and know that they are deeply loved by You. Strengthen their faith and help them to trust in Your promises, even when their emotions tell them otherwise. We ask that You would draw them closer to You and fill them with a fresh hunger for Your Word and Your presence.
Thank You, Father, that You are a God who hears our prayers. Thank You that we can come boldly before Your throne of grace because of Jesus (Hebrews 4:16). We trust that You are working in this situation, even now. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, even if it feels dry at first. Meditate on Scriptures that speak of His faithfulness, like Lamentations 3:22-23, "It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you and encourage you. And remember, feelings are not always truth, God’s Word is the ultimate truth. He has not left you, and He never will. Keep seeking Him, and you will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13).
