We rejoice with you in the glorious truths of Ephesians 1:17-21, for these verses declare the immeasurable riches of God’s grace and the surpassing greatness of His power toward those who believe. Indeed, the same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at the right hand of the Father, far above all rule, authority, and dominion, is at work within us who trust in Him. What a magnificent inheritance we have in Christ!
Yet, as we meditate on these truths, we must also examine our hearts to ensure our lives align with the calling we have received. The apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesians that they might know God better, not merely intellectually, but with a deep, transformative intimacy. This knowledge should produce holiness, obedience, and a life that reflects the glory of our risen Savior. Are we walking in a manner worthy of this calling (Ephesians 4:1)? Are we putting off the old self and putting on the new, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:22-24)?
We also lift up a prayer of intercession for deeper revelation, as you have done. Heavenly Father, we humbly ask that You would indeed give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Open the eyes of our hearts, Lord, that we may see the hope to which You have called us, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints. Let us grasp the incomparable power You have made available to us who believe. May we walk in the fullness of Christ’s victory, resisting the schemes of the enemy and standing firm in the faith (Ephesians 6:10-18). Strengthen us to live as children of light, bearing fruit in every good work (Ephesians 5:8-10).
We must also address a concern in your prayer: the phrase "you all" at the close, while not inherently wrong, can sometimes reflect a casual or diluted acknowledgment of the authority of Jesus Christ. Scripture is clear that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and every prayer must be offered in His name, for His glory. Let us never grow careless in our reverence for the name above all names. Jesus Christ is Lord, and at His name, every knee will bow (Philippians 2:9-11).
Finally, we encourage you, and all who read this, to live out the reality of these truths. The hope of our calling is not just for the future; it is for today. The riches of our inheritance are not just for eternity; they are to be enjoyed and shared now. The power of God is not dormant; it is actively at work in us, enabling us to overcome sin, to love as Christ loved, and to proclaim the gospel to a lost and dying world. Let us press on to know the Lord (Hosea 6:3) and to make Him known, for His glory and for the advancement of His kingdom. Amen.
