We hear the distress and sense of being under attack in your new neighborhood, among family, and in your workplace, and we join with you to seek God's protection and peace. We understand how real spiritual opposition can feel, especially when there are evil tongues, witchcraft, and occult influence around you, and we want to stand with you in prayer for God's deliverance.

Yet we must lovingly rebuke and correct the way this request has been framed, because it does not align with the heart and teaching of Scripture. You have asked that people be plagued, killed, and that their blood be shed like an ocean and that they be burned to ashes. This is a prayer for vengeance and destruction upon people made in the image of God. The Word tells us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. People themselves are not our enemy, even when they oppose us or practice evil. God calls us to a different response. You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But we tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:43-44. And again, Don’t return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead bless 1 Peter 3:9, and Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. When we pray for plagues and death upon others we are taking into our own hands what belongs to God alone.

The Lord does not delight in the death of the wicked, but desires that the wicked turn from his way and live Ezekiel 33:11, and He is patient toward us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. Even the imprecatory psalms like Psalm 35 and Psalm 94 are cries for God’s righteous justice, leaving judgment in His hands, not personal curses for bloodshed. And while the judgment on Egypt in Exodus 7:14-12:51 and the command in Exodus 22:18 reveal God’s holy hatred of sorcery and His power over it, we are now under the new covenant in Christ where we are commanded to overcome evil with good Romans 12:21.

We also note your mention of masturbation, homosexuality, transsexuality and marine spirits. Scripture does teach that sexual immorality outside of marriage between a man and a woman, including fornication, adultery, and homosexual practice, is sin before God 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Romans 1:26-27, and that such sin, like all sin, needs repentance. Yet God’s will is not that those caught in such sin be annihilated by our prayers, but that they be washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God 1 Corinthians 6:11. Witchcraft and occult practices are also detestable to the Lord Deuteronomy 18:10-12, but our weapon is not to call down destruction on people, but to submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you James 4:7, for greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4.

So we will not join you in praying for people to be killed or tortured, but we do join you in praying for God’s protection, for the breaking of every demonic assignment, for conviction that leads to repentance, and for peace in your neighborhood and workplace.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You only through the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and in Him we have boldness and access Ephesians 3:12. We lift up this dear one who feels surrounded by warfare, by evil tongues, and by occult influence. Lord, surround them with Your favor as with a shield Psalm 5:12, and let no weapon that is formed against them prosper Isaiah 54:17. We ask that You put Your hedge of protection around their home, their family, and their workplace, and that You silence lying lips and gossip, for You keep him who trusts in You in perfect peace Isaiah 26:3. We ask that every work of witchcraft, every demonic influence and deception be exposed and rendered powerless by the blood of Jesus, and that those who practice such things would be brought under deep conviction, that they might turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God Acts 26:18. Forgive us for when we have desired revenge, and teach our hearts to bless those who persecute us Luke 6:27-28, to love our enemies and to leave vengeance to You who judges righteously. Cleanse and keep this one from all sexual immorality and impurity, and lead them in holiness and self control, and help them to walk in the full armor of God, with truth, righteousness, the Good News of peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer Ephesians 6:13-18. Let Your will be done, let Your kingdom come in that neighborhood and workplace, and let Your peace reign. We ask that You fight for them, for You have said You will fight for us while we remain calm Exodus 14:14. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue in daily prayer and the reading of Scripture, to put on the whole armor of God each day, to meet regularly with a Bible believing church for counsel and accountability, to avoid retaliation or cursing others, and to seek to live peaceably with all men as much as it depends on you Romans 12:18. If there is real harassment or occult intimidation at work or in the neighborhood, seek wise godly counsel and, where needed, appropriate lawful help, while continuing to pray for the salvation and transformation of those who oppose you, trusting that God is both your protector and your just judge.

We hear how much weight you are carrying right now with tension in your new neighborhood and at work, and feeling surrounded by spiritual opposition. It makes sense you would long for God to step in powerfully and bring justice and peace where you live and work.

We want to stand with you in a different way than asking for harm to come to others. We believe the real battle is spiritual, not against the people around you, and that Jesus invites us to bring our fear and anger to Him and ask for His protection, His wisdom and His peace to guard our hearts and homes. He is able to keep you secure even when you feel watched or targeted.

One steady step that helps many when these fears feel loud is to invite one or two trusted, grounded believers, like a pastor, to know what you are experiencing and to pray with you regularly in person. Walking with others keeps us from carrying this alone and helps us stay centered on Christ and His ways of prayer, Scripture and fellowship over time.

Father, in Jesus name we bring our brother before You. Cover him with Your peace in his home and workplace, give him wisdom for each interaction and lead him in Your will. Quiet fear and draw him close to You. Help him rest in Your protection and love. Amen.

There is a cry in your prayer that reveals a soul pressed down by fear and by the sense of being beset on every side, in your neighborhood and in your family and in your place of labor. Fear is always distressing and it is always a weakening thing, and it is right that you should bring it before the Lord who hears.

Yet we must be faithful to the Word of God as we pray with you. The Scriptures teach us that vengeance belongs to the Lord and that He will plead the causes of His people. You have pleaded the causes of my soul, you have redeemed my life, is the language of the believer who leaves his cause in the court of Heaven's justice. We are not to ask the Lord to pour out plagues or to shed blood or to call down destruction upon those who trouble us, for our Lord Himself gently rebuked His disciples and never spoke to them in anger, and His dying prayer for His persecutors was, Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. He lived for His enemies, He died for His enemies, and He loved His enemies.

If there were no pardon, nobody would fear God at all, for there is no forgiveness for the devil and his legions and there is not one that has any reverence for God. But where forgiveness is enjoyed, it becomes the main motive which moves the heart to fear God. The promise of the ancient covenant is, I will put my fear in their hearts that they shall not depart from me, and a new heart also will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you. What you need, and what those who oppose you need, is not to be consumed but to be changed by that new heart.

Concerning those sins you have named, the Word of God is clear and gracious at once. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and the gift of intimacy belongs within that covenant alone. What lies outside that holy boundary, whether impurity of the flesh or confusion of what God has made male and female, or the practice of occult arts and witchcraft, is sin before a holy God and cannot be affirmed or blessed. But the same Word declares that Christ was sued and summoned at the court of Eternal Justice, and the sins of His people being reckoned upon Him, He discharged the whole tremendous debt that was due to God. Therefore we do not pray that sinners be burned to ashes, but that sinners be brought to repentance and faith, that they might receive the forgiveness of sins without which no man can truly fear God.

Let us then pray not for the death of your foes but for their life in Christ, and for your own preservation and peace.

O God of our fathers, the God of Abraham and of Isaac, who has said, I will surely do you good, hear the prayer of this troubled one. Put Your fear in this heart that it may not depart from You, and give a new heart and a new spirit. Plead the cause of this soul and redeem this life from fear. Keep this child from the snares of evil tongues and from every work of darkness in neighborhood and household and workplace, and deliver from all witchcraft and impurity. Let no weapon formed against Your servant prosper, but let Your presence be a defense. And we pray for those who are counted as foes, that You would have mercy upon them, that they might be turned from sin to seek forgiveness through the blood of Christ, and so learn to fear You and to love You. Teach this servant to trust in You and not to be afraid, for when I am afraid I will trust in You, and to forgive even as Christ has forgiven. Bring peace at home and holiness of life, that out of a heart established in grace there may flow a testimony of Your truth abroad. This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our redemption and our righteousness. Amen.

Your request has been heard, and the distress you feel in your neighborhood and in your workplace is not hidden from God. The hostility of evil tongues, the pressure of occult practices, and the open display of sexual sin around you are real burdens, and it is right to bring them to the Lord and to seek His protection for your family.

Yet the way you have asked to pray would turn prayer into a weapon of vengeance against people, and that is not the prayer of a Christian. When you ought to tremble for your own sins and seek pardon for them, you are asking God to move in wrath against your brother. Scripture warns us about this. With what measure you measure, it will be measured to you, and with what judgment you judge, you will be judged. If you ask the Judge to be severe in exacting offenses against you, how can you expect Him to be merciful toward your own offenses against Him.

The Christian is commanded to do the opposite. Being reviled, we bless. Being persecuted, we endure. Being defamed, we entreat. Stephen, while being stoned unjustly by his enemies, prayed, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. He did not pray against them but for them. You suffer much that is unjust, yet you are called to pray for those who mistreat you, not to call down plagues and bloodshed upon them. To put on the garment of a suppliant and then utter the cries of a wild beast is to thrust the sword against yourself, for you provoke the very Judge from whom you need mercy. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, and He will repay in perfect justice. Our part is to leave that judgment to Him.

This does not mean that what you see around you is good or to be affirmed. It is not. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sexual intimacy belongs only within that covenant. Practices such as fornication, adultery, living together outside marriage, use of sexual devices for self gratification, homosexual acts, and transexual confusion are contrary to God's design and are sin before Him, as are witchcraft, robbery and deceit. The same Scriptures that forbid sorcery also call all sexual immorality to repentance. We do not celebrate these things and we do not ask God to bless them. We ask God to convict, to bring to repentance, and to set free those who are captive to them, so that they may be saved.

True spiritual warfare is not calling down twelve plagues upon people made in God's image. It is turning from sin yourself, walking in holiness, fasting and prayer, guarding your heart from anger, and blessing those who curse you. Anger is like a fever and a swelling that blinds the soul. If you master it, you show the strength that even servants show when they endure insults for fear of their masters. How much more should we endure for the fear of God, and say to our own soul, God restrains my hand and my tongue, I will not return evil for evil.

So let us pray in the way Christ taught.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, have mercy on this Your servant and on his family. Guard his home and his workplace, and deliver him from every snare of the enemy. Forgive his sins as he now forgives those who have spoken evil against him. Bring conviction and repentance to those who practice witchcraft and occult arts, and to those caught in sexual immorality and confusion, that they may turn from darkness and live. Let no weapon formed against Your people prosper, and give peace in the neighborhood and integrity in the workplace. Teach us to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us, trusting Your perfect justice and longing for Your mercy to save. Let Your will be done, and keep our hearts from wrath and doubting, that we may lift holy hands before You. Amen.

Lay down the law in your own heart not to be overcome by anger, pursue peace where you can, stay faithful in the church, and continue to pray not that people be destroyed, but that evil be overcome by good and that souls be saved.

I have read your request and I hear how heavy and pressed you feel on every side, in your new neighborhood, in your family and in your workplace, and how real the spiritual conflict feels to you right now. It is understandable to feel surrounded and to want God to intervene powerfully and quickly when you sense opposition, accusations, occult influence and open sin around you.

Scripture shows that fear often comes when we forget the Lord and His presence with us. One psalmist says though he walked through the valley of the shadow of death he would fear no evil because the Lord was with him. That remembering is the cure for fear. Fear and faith cannot rule the heart at the same time. When fear is allowed to take over, faith departs, and when faith and confidence in God are strong, fear loses its hold. Satan often tries to use fear to move us to wrong reactions, so we are called to do what is wise and prudent but not to be driven by fear of what people or spiritual enemies might do. The Lord is our light and our salvation, whom shall we fear. The Lord is the strength of our lives, of whom shall we be afraid. In the time of trouble He can hide us in His shelter and keep us steady.

You prayed that God would bring plagues and death upon specific people and that their blood would be shed and their practices burned to dust, and you cited passages like the judgments on Egypt and prayers from the Psalms. The Bible does record God judging Egypt with plagues and it records prayers where David and Jeremiah asked God to repay their enemies and to cut them off. Those prayers show how deeply they felt the injustice. Yet Jesus teaches us in the New Testament to bless those who curse us and to not return cursing for cursing. The vengeance that belongs to God is not ours to direct. Paul writes to persecuted believers that God will in His own time and in His own righteousness judge those who afflict His people, but our part is to wait on the Lord, to lift our souls to Him, to trust in Him and not be ashamed, and to not let our enemies triumph over us by drawing us into hatred. We can honestly tell God about the oppression and ask Him to protect us, to scatter what is gathered against us, to lead us on a level and unobstructed path because of our enemies, and to deliver us out of all trouble, while leaving the final judgment in His hands. He sits and will make His enemies His footstool in His timing.

It also helps to bring our own hearts to Him first. David prayed according to the abundance of God's tender mercies, asking God to blot out his transgressions. There is no forgiveness in justifying ourselves, but there is forgiveness when we confess. When we acknowledge our sin, God can deal with it, cleanse it and put it away. His mercy is as high as the heavens are above the earth, and though our sins are as scarlet He promises to make them white as snow. He loved us even while we were dead in trespasses and sins, from eternity He has loved us, and His compassions do not fail. That same mercy that has washed us is the mercy we are called to extend, praying even for those who oppose us that they might come to repentance and to salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

You mentioned sexual practices and identities that are contrary to God's design, including homosexuality, transsexuality, masturbation and the use of objects, as well as involvement in witchcraft and the occult and dishonest gain through robbery and scamming. The historic biblical ethic is clear that God created marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and that sexual intimacy belongs only within that covenant, and that occult practices are forbidden. We do not affirm or celebrate or ask God to bless what He calls sin. At the same time we do not pray for people who are caught in those things to be killed or tortured. We pray that the power of those sins would be broken, that those involved would be convicted, would turn from them, would be forgiven and made new through Christ, and that any spiritual deception would be exposed and lose its hold. God desires a loving relationship with people, not merely a legal one, and He has provided forgiveness and new life through His Son for all who will confess and believe.

So I encourage you to pray in this direction. Tell God you are trusting in Him and that you do not want to fear what people can do to you. Ask Him to be your strength so your heart will not fear though hostility rises around you. Ask Him to prepare a table before you even in the presence of your enemies and to keep you from being moved by every tongue that rises against you. Ask Him to guard your home and your workplace, to give you peace in your neighborhood, to bind together your family in love, and to give you love that abounds toward others even under pressure, as the early believers grew in faith and love while under persecution. Pray for those who trouble you, that God would show them mercy, open their eyes and draw them to Himself, and that if they persist in harming others God would restrain them according to His truth and justice. And continue to confess your own sins and receive His complete forgiveness, resting in the assurance that He has blotted out your transgressions and remembers them no more.

May the Lord lift up your soul to Himself, keep you from shame, and let you see His deliverance as you wait on Him.
