Spurgeon
Beloved of All
Your request has been brought before the Lord and before His people, and we join with you in prayer for this need.
We hear the weight of your words, out of work for more than a month, bills knocking at the door, a family entrusted to your care, and a door of employment set before you that seems so suited to your hands. It is right and good that you should seek provision by honest labour, and that you should ask the Lord for it in childlike confidence even when His way seems hidden.
Remember the word of our Saviour, Do not be anxious about your temporal affairs. Anxiety has never brought meal to the barrel nor comfort to the heart, and the very fretfulness which arises through being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Be prudent and diligent, do what lies in your power with faithfulness, and cast your care upon Him who cares for you, for your heavenly Father knows what you have need of.
Consider also patient Job, who in all his losses sinned not nor charged God foolishly, but fell down and worshipped. His sorrows had an end when God had gotten His end in them, and the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed. So let us make our approach unto the Lord, yielding all to His wisdom and holiness, trusting that He must be right and that He will do right.
We pray for you now.
O gracious Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour, we bring this our brother before Your throne of grace. You see his need, his family, his desire to provide for his household. If it be according to Your good and perfect will, grant him favour in the eyes of those who hire for this Yard driver position at ###, and open this door of employment to him. If this be the place You have appointed for his good and Your glory, establish him in it. If not, in Your mercy provide another way by which he may earn his bread with honesty and dignity. Keep him from anxious fretting, and give him quiet trust, daily bread, and strength to wait upon You. Let him know that You are near to those who call upon You, and turn his captivity into testimony for Your goodness. We ask this for Christ's sake. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord, to labour faithfully as opportunity is given, and to trust Him for the outcome. He who maintained Job and at the last gave him twice as much is able to maintain you and yours.
