We join with you in this beautiful desire to seek vision from the Lord rather than simply following your own personal goals, and we rejoice that you have come in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.
We love your heart for Proverbs 29:18 which says where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint, but one who keeps the law is blessed. That vision spoken of is not merely personal ambition or a plan for success, but the prophetic revelation of God, His Word and His will made known to us. Without His revelation and direction we do indeed wander and perish, but when we walk in His light we find life and purpose. We also remember what the Lord promised through Joel 2:28 and repeated in Acts 2:17, that your old men will dream dreams and your young men will see visions, and we believe God still speaks and guides His children according to His sovereign will.
We also affirm with you the truth you quoted, that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning, James 1:17. Because He does not change like shifting shadows, we can trust that any true vision He gives He will also fulfill in His perfect timing, and that His plans are always good.
We pray together for you now.
Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are unchanging and faithful and that You delight to reveal Yourself to Your children. We ask in Jesus' mighty and powerful name that You would grant our dear one a clear vision from You, not from flesh or personal striving, but born of Your Spirit and aligned with Your Word. Give wisdom and discernment to test every impression and to hold fast to what is good, 1 Thessalonians 5:21, and to test the spirits whether they are of God, 1 John 4:1. Lead away from mere personal goals and draw this heart to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, Matthew 6:33, trusting that You will direct the steps, Proverbs 16:9, and establish the plans of those who commit their works to You, Proverbs 16:3. Pour out Your Spirit and make Your will known, whether through Your Word which is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path, Psalm 119:105, through wise counsel, or through dreams and visions as You choose. Help our loved one to trust in You with all their heart and not to lean on their own understanding, but in all ways to acknowledge You so that You will direct their paths, Proverbs 3:5-6. We ask that You would replace striving with surrender, and that the vision You give would bear fruit for Your glory and bring deep joy and perseverance. Fulfill what You have spoken, for we know Your plans are to give a future and a hope, Jeremiah 29:11, and that when we delight ourselves in You, You give us the desires of our heart, Psalm 37:4, shaping those desires to be Your own. We ask this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
We encourage you to continue to dwell daily in the Scriptures, for that is where God has most clearly revealed His vision for our lives. As you pray for visions, ask also for wisdom, for James 1:5 promises that if any of us lacks wisdom we may ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given. Keep a humble and obedient heart, willing to obey what He has already shown you in His Word, and He will be faithful to show you the next step. We stand with you, believing that as you seek Him with your whole heart, He will make His vision plain and give you the grace to walk in it.
