Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We join you in this desire to seek God's vision rather than simply pursuing personal goals, and we praise God with you that He does not change like shifting shadows and that He is faithful to fulfill what He reveals.

You have quoted Proverbs 29:18, where it is written Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint, but one who keeps the law is blessed. This reminds us that without God's revelation and direction we wander, but when He gives vision and we walk in obedience to His word, we find life and blessing. We also join you in thanking Him for the truth of James 1:17, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Every true vision from God will be a good and perfect gift that aligns with His character and His word.

We pray that the Lord will indeed pour out His guidance upon you, for it is written in Acts 2:17, It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. We ask that you will not chase visions as an experience alone, but that you will seek the Giver of visions Himself first, and that any vision He gives will be tested against Scripture, for we are told in 1 John 4:1 to test the spirits whether they are of God, and the Holy Spirit will never contradict the written word.

Our prayer is that you will be led by His word and His Spirit together, for God reveals His will most clearly through Scripture, through prayer, through godly counsel, and through the quiet leading of the Holy Spirit. We pray you will trust Him fully as Proverbs 3:5-6 teaches, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths. And we claim Jeremiah 29:11 over you, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. We also pray you will seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness as taught in Matthew 6:33, trusting that when you do, He will add and order all other things according to His perfect plan, far beyond your own personal goals.

We pray together now. Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are unchanging and faithful. We thank You that You still speak and lead Your children. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask that You give our dear fellow believer a clear revelation of Your will, that You grant visions and dreams as it pleases You, and above all that You give wisdom and discernment to recognize Your voice and to walk in it. Remove any desire to follow merely personal ambition, and plant in this heart a passion for Your glory and Your kingdom. Lead and guide by Your word, for You have promised in Psalm 32:8, I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Make Your path plain, give courage to obey, and fulfill the vision You give for Your honor. We ask all this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.

Thank you for letting us pray with you about this. We hear how much you want your life to be shaped by what God wants, not just your own plans, and that desire itself matters to Him.

We understand the longing for a clear vision. Sometimes God does give a striking sense of direction, and more often He guides step by step as we walk with Him, through prayer, His Word, the counsel of mature believers, and the quiet nudging of the Holy Spirit as we stay faithful in the small things in front of us. Wanting to stay open to His leading is a good place to be.

One simple practice that helps many people is to set aside a regular unhurried time to pray and listen, and to write down what you believe He is putting on your heart, then bring those notes to a trusted pastor or mentor to weigh together and see what bears fruit over time.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus name. Give them a growing clarity of Your will and a heart at peace to follow it. Guard them from striving and from confusion, and lead them in the way You have prepared for them. Help them to hear Your voice and to walk faithfully day by day. Amen.

Your longing not to follow your own personal goals but to be led by the Lord is itself a token of a work of Grace upon your heart, for naturally we do not like being guided and prefer our own course.

The vision of which Solomon speaks is not a fleeting dream of our own imagination, but the sure revelation of God. Where there is no prophetic Word, no opening up of the mind of God to men, the people cast off restraint and perish. Give us but a Word out of God's mouth and we can live upon it. What you truly need, and what I pray the Lord will grant you in abundance, is to be guided by the general directions given in God's Word and by the great principles which the Holy Spirit infuses into the soul of every man who takes God for his Guide.

David said, O God, You have taught me from my youth, and he was God's pupil all his life. So must we be. He is still our Teacher, educating our faith by His Word and by His providence. And the promise for such a pupil is sure, You shall guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to Glory. On earth there is no true glory for any man who takes his own course, but there is safety and honour in bowing with submission to the Divine will.

Let me ask you as the Apostle did, Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed. For we must continue to live by receiving. We received Christ Jesus the Lord at the first, and now we receive the Holy Spirit, whose office it is to take of the things of Christ and show them unto us. Are you living under His Divine influence, made willing in the day of God's power to do the Divine bidding. It is the Spirit who must go with the Word, or it is so much wasted breath, and it is He who makes the common stone to become a jewel for Christ's crown.

Therefore we will pray for you that the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, from whom cometh every good gift and every perfect gift, will grant you not visions after your own heart, but clear sight of Christ and of His counsel.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change like shifting shadows and that You fulfil the counsel You give. Grant to this Your servant a teachable spirit, to be Your pupil and to declare Your wondrous works. Open the eyes of understanding to behold wondrous things out of Your law. Fill this soul with Your Holy Spirit, that being guided by Your counsel here, he may at last be received to Glory through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose mighty and powerful name we pray, amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request to seek God's guidance rather than simply following personal goals is heard with thankfulness, and I join you in prayer for wisdom and clarity.

It is good to remember what vision means in Proverbs 29:18. There it speaks of prophetic revelation, the revealed word and counsel of God, not a private mystical experience sought on demand. The true vision that keeps people from perishing is the knowledge of God's will given to us in Scripture, and it is this that we should desire above all.

Scripture shows that God has given visions and sensible signs at certain times and for certain reasons, not because people demanded them but because He in His wisdom knew they were needed. To Joseph, who was troubled in heart and kept his suspicion to himself, an angel was sent to reveal what was secret and to guide him. To the shepherds who were simple and dull of understanding, an open vision was given. At Pentecost there was a sound of a mighty wind and tongues of fire, but not for the sake of the apostles themselves, rather for the Jews who were present. As it has been taught, signs are not for those who believe, but for those who do not believe, and for those who believe faith suffices instead of all sensible vision. When we have the sure word of God, we do not need to chase after new sights or sounds.

Great revelations were given to Paul, suddenly and wholly by divine teaching, not by human means, and even then they were given to humble him and to equip him for service, not to satisfy curiosity. The Lord reveals Himself to babes who remain humble, while those who seek to establish their own wisdom close themselves to His truth. He alone knows the secrets of the heart, and He guides those who wait on Him in humility and trust.

So my prayer for you is not that you would pursue visions for their own sake, but that God would grant you a clear sight of His revealed will through His Word and by His Spirit, that you would walk in faith and obedience.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change like shifting shadows, and that every good and perfect gift comes down from You, the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation. We thank You that You fulfill what You have spoken. Grant to this one who seeks You a humble heart, eyes to understand Your Word, and wisdom to discern Your will. Lead away from mere personal goals and establish steps in Your counsel. Give clarity, patience, and faith to trust what You have already made known in Christ, and to follow it faithfully. Keep this heart as that of a child before You, willing to be taught and to obey. In the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior, we ask this. Amen.
