Vision

Kensem

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We join you in this desire to seek God's vision for your life rather than simply pursuing personal goals, and we thank you for praying in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

We love your heart after God's direction, and we want to gently encourage you in what Proverbs 29:18 truly means. In the World English Bible it says, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. Proverbs 29:18. The vision spoken of here is not merely a personal dream or ambition, but the revealed Word and will of God. Without His revelation and guidance, we wander without restraint, but when we keep His Word we are blessed. This reminds us that the primary way God gives us vision today is through His Holy Word, illuminated by His Holy Spirit.

It is beautiful that you quoted James 1:17, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. James 1:17. We agree that God does not change like shifting shadows and He is faithful to fulfill what He reveals. He also promises, It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17. So we do believe God can and does give visions, dreams, and clear direction by His Spirit, but we must always test what we receive against Scripture and not chase experiences above the Word itself.

We encourage you to seek vision by first surrendering your own plans and delighting in His Word daily. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. And, Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2. As you do this, ask for wisdom, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5. God also promises, I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Psalm 32:8. His thoughts for you are good, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning, and that every good and perfect gift comes from Your hand. We lift up this dear one before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking that You pour out Your Spirit and grant clear, biblical vision and revelation for the life You have called them to live. Remove any reliance on personal ambition or worldly goals, and replace it with a hunger for Your Word and Your perfect will. Give wisdom liberally, teach and instruct in the way to go, and make the path straight. If it is Your will to give visions and dreams, we ask that You do so clearly and that You grant discernment to test all things against Scripture, so that no deception takes root. Help this one to wait patiently for Your timing, for the vision is yet for the appointed time, and to walk in obedience to what You have already revealed. Fulfill Your purposes and let Your name be glorified in their life. We ask all this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.

We appreciate you sharing this desire so plainly, wanting to be led by God and not just by your own plans is a humble and good place to be.

We hear in your request a hunger not just for an experience, but for direction you can trust. In our own lives we have found that what God calls vision is less about chasing a dramatic picture and more about a steady sense of His calling that shapes daily choices and gives us an appetite for what He values. That kind of leading often comes quietly, as we stay faithful in prayer, listen, and walk obediently in what we already know is His will.

A simple next step that helps many is to keep a regular, unhurried time to pray and listen, and then bring what you sense to a couple of mature believers who know you well. They can help you weigh it, encourage what looks like God's leading and gently question what may just be your own idea. Staying rooted in that kind of community and in faithful daily obedience keeps us from either forcing something or missing what God is actually showing.

Father, we bring our brother before You and thank You for the desire You have placed in him to follow You. Give him clarity, wisdom and a quiet confidence to follow Your way step by step. Guard him from confusion and from simply following his own goals, and lead him into what You have for him. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your prayer for vision, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace.

You have well quoted the wise man, where there is no vision the people perish, but that vision is not a dream of the night nor a fancy of our own imagination. It is the divine revelation, the sure Word of God, the counsel of heaven made known to men. Without that Word, without that light from above, the soul casts off restraint and perishes. With it, the soul is guided and kept.

Your desire not to follow your own personal goals is itself a work of grace upon the heart, for naturally we do not like being guided. We love our own way and our own self esteem mars our vision. But the great Surgeon of souls removes that speck chiefly by sanctified affliction and by making us pure in heart, for it is the pure in heart who shall see the Lord.

Therefore our prayer for you is not that you should seek after strange sights, but that you may be attentive to that mind of Christ which is often expressed by the Holy Spirit in divine monitions within, that the law of the Book may be with you and the law of the Spirit within you. There are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his guide, and the first among them is to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God. By that very acquiescence we are furnished with unerring guidance.

Learn also to stand still and wait awhile. What the Christian does with cool deliberation, when he has waited upon God, when like David he has said, Bring here the ephod, he does with a purpose and God is with him. Haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Seek earnestly the divine grace to stand still in obedience to your Lord's behest, and to ask for the divine presence, for we need that presence and are bid to pause and seek it prayerfully, that in its matchless power we may go forward successfully.

We pray that the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, from whom cometh every good gift and every perfect gift, will fulfil his own purpose in you. His divine sea of purpose is still moving on, and though we are but waves upon it, his counsel shall stand. May he guide you with his counsel, keep you from your own way, give you clear sight through his Word, and afterward receive you to glory.

Heavenly Father, we ask that thou wouldst give to this thy servant not vanity nor mere personal ambition, but true vision by thy Word and Spirit. Purify the heart to see thee, grant wisdom clothed in love, establish thy divine purpose, and lead by thy divine presence, that thy name may be glorified. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our only salvation and our sure guide, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join with you in prayer and thank God for your desire not to follow only your own personal goals but to be led by Him.

You quoted Proverbs 29:18, and it is good to understand what that vision means. In Scripture that word does not mean personal plans or ideas for the future, but the revealed word and counsel of God given through His prophets. Where that revelation is absent the people cast off restraint. Where it is present and obeyed, there is life. So the greatest vision we need is not a new mystical sight, but clear sight of what God has already spoken in His Word and the grace to walk in it.

We pray that the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning and from whom every good and perfect gift comes down, will give you that true vision. As Scripture teaches, a father does not give a stone when his son asks for bread, but he also does not give what would harm his son even if he asks for it. Being a child of God does not mean we receive everything we ask for, but that He gives what is profitable for our souls. So we ask that He will give you not whatever seems good for a moment, but what is truly good and profitable according to His wisdom.

We also remember that we are not to test God by demanding signs or throwing ourselves into needless trials to see if He will rescue us. Instead we are to seek Him with a humble and obedient heart, enduring as seeing Him who is invisible, and trusting His Word day by day.

So we pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ, that God will open your eyes to understand His Word, that He will make His will clear to you through Scripture, through prayer, and through wise counsel, and that He will give you a heart to love and obey what He shows you. May He guard you from merely pursuing your own goals, and may He establish your steps in His purposes, for His glory. May He grant you wisdom, discernment, and contentment to receive earthly things only as from His hand and to hold them lightly as one who is free in Christ.

Heavenly Father, fulfill in this dear one what is according to Your perfect will. Grant light to their path, strengthen their faith, and lead them in the way everlasting. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your desire to follow the Lord's leading rather than simply pursuing your own personal goals is a good and right desire, and it is one God honors.

The verse you mentioned, Proverbs 29:18, is often understood as a call for personal dreams or ideas, but its meaning is deeper. The word translated vision there speaks of prophetic revelation, the revealed Word of God. Where there is no revelation, no clear hearing of what God has said, people cast off restraint and wander without direction. They perish not for lack of ambition, but for lack of God's truth to guide them. What you are asking for, then, is not just an inner picture or a plan of your own, but to have your heart anchored in what God has already revealed in Scripture and to be led by His Spirit according to that Word.

God is unchanging. As you quoted, every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. He is faithful to fulfill what He has promised. His great purposes will stand and will be accomplished. What He has declared about redemption through Jesus Christ and about the coming kingdom when Christ returns will surely come to pass. His Word is sure and faithful and true. Our place is not to try to bend God to our will in prayer, but to bring our will into alignment with His. The purpose of prayer is to see God's will done, because His will for your life is the very best thing that could happen to you, far better than any goal you could set for yourself.

Scripture gives a simple invitation. Turn to the Lord and He will turn to you. If you seek Him, He will be found by you. If you forsake Him, you lose that fellowship. When your heart is not satisfied in hearing and keeping God's Word, you will find yourself wandering, searching here and there for something to fill the void. But when you are satisfied in His Word, you find direction, correction, and the peaceable fruit of righteousness. God created you with a purpose, to know Him, to have fellowship with Him, and to walk with Him both now and for eternity. You are important to Him and He has an eternal purpose for your existence.

So pray not only for a momentary experience, but for a life that is continually open to His Word and led by His Spirit. Ask Him to make His will clear to you through Scripture, to give you wisdom to understand it, and to give you a willing heart to obey it. At times God does give a special glimpse of things to come, for in that timeless realm He can show what will yet happen, but the most needed vision for daily life is a clear sight of Jesus Christ, His cross, His grace, and His calling to follow Him faithfully.

May the Lord answer your prayer according to His perfect will. May He fill you with a love for His Word, keep you from merely chasing your own goals, and satisfy your heart in Himself. May He lead you step by step, show you His purpose for you, and make you an instrument in His hands to do His work, so that you do not miss the blessing of being part of what He is doing. May He guard you from the lies that would make you question His love or His forgiveness, and assure you again through the blood of Jesus Christ that His mercy endures forever and His grace is sufficient.

We pray that the Father who does not change will grant you wisdom, clarity, and a steady vision grounded in His Word, and that you will walk in obedience and joy before Him, looking forward to the day when Christ comes to establish His kingdom. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf for visions from God. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer concerning Proverbs 29:18 and your desire to receive vision from the Lord so that you do not just follow your own personal goals but walk in what God has for you.

We have continued to pray that the Father of lights, from whom every good and perfect gift comes according to James 1:17, will pour out clear vision upon you, that He will guide you by His Spirit and that He will give you wisdom to discern His will. We have prayed that you will know that He is faithful to fulfill the visions He gives and that you will be led by Him and not by shifting desires.

If your request was answered and God has begun to give you vision and direction, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered yet, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We pray that the Lord will make His vision plain to you and strengthen your faith to follow Him. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus name, amen.
