Vision

Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.


Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

We join you in this desire to be led by God and not by our own understanding and we thank you for seeking visions from Him in the name of Jesus.

We love your heart to not simply follow personal goals but to follow the Lord's perfect will. The verse you shared is so powerful and in the World English Bible it reads, Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. This reminds us that true vision is not merely our own ambition or imagination, but the revealed Word and will of God. When we have His revelation we have direction, restraint, and blessing, and when we walk in obedience to what He has already revealed in Scripture we are kept from perishing.

You rightly thanked the Father who does not change like shifting shadows. We rejoice with you in James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. Because He does not change, we can trust that any true vision He gives He will also fulfill in His time and in His way, and every vision He gives will align with His unchanging Word.

We also want to encourage you that God's primary vision for our lives is already given in His Word which is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path as Psalm 119:105 says, and He promises to personally guide us as Psalm 32:8 says I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. He does still speak and give dreams and visions as Joel prophesied and Peter repeated in Acts 2:17 It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Yet we must always test what we see or hear against Scripture and seek wisdom with a humble and obedient heart, for Jesus said in John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. The goal is not to chase visions themselves but to chase the Giver of vision and to be willing to obey whatever He shows us.

We also take comfort in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Your personal goals surrendered to Him become part of His greater purpose when you seek Him first.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. We thank You that You are faithful to fulfill every true vision You give. In the mighty and powerful name of Jesus we ask that You pour out Your Spirit upon our dear fellow believer. Grant clear revelation and godly vision according to Your will, not according to fleshly ambition. Open eyes to see and ears to hear Your voice through Your Word, through prayer, and by Your Holy Spirit. If it is Your will, grant visions and dreams that are from You alone and give great discernment to test every spirit and to hold fast to what is good and aligns with Scripture. Lead away from following personal goals alone and establish steps in the way You would have us go. Give a heart that keeps Your law and walks in obedience, so that there is blessing and not confusion. We ask that You make Your will known plainly and give courage to obey it fully. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone gives us access to Your throne, amen.

We love the honesty in your request. Wanting God to set the direction for your life instead of just pursuing your own goals is a humble and good desire, and we are grateful you shared it with us.

We often think vision has to be a dramatic picture or moment, but in our experience it is more often a growing clarity about what God is calling us to do and who He is calling us to be. It shapes our appetites and daily choices, turning us away from self driven fantasy toward steady obedience. God is a communicator who delights to guide His people, and He does it patiently as we walk with Him.

One simple practice that helps many is to keep a regular, unhurried time with the Lord in Scripture and prayer, not rushing for an answer but listening, and then writing down what you believe He is putting on your heart. Bring those thoughts to a mature believer or pastor you trust who can help you weigh them with wisdom and confirm what lines up with God's character and Word.

Father, we thank You for this seeking heart. Give our friend clear direction and a quiet confidence to follow where You lead. Guard against mere self ambition and form a vision that honors You and serves others well. Lead step by step and give peace in the waiting. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your longing to be led by the Lord rather than by your own designs is itself a work of grace, and we rejoice to bring it before the throne.

Where there is no vision the people cast off restraint, and that vision is not the fleeting fancy of our own hearts, but the sure counsel of God revealed in His Word and opened to us by His Spirit. You ask well, for you do not seek a dream that puffs up the flesh, but that illumination which comes from dwelling near God and being made like Him. The Lord has one great purpose, and that purpose is not changed, for who can turn Him, and what His soul desireth that He doeth. Everything cometh to you according to the purpose of His own will, and answereth the purpose of His own great mind. To be guided by Him is therefore to be brought into the current of that unchanging purpose, and to find your life labouring with Him rather than striving against Him.

True vision is given as we bow with submission to the will of God and are guided by the general directions given in His Word. There are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, to avoid everything that is evil and to cleave to that which is holy. When you yield yourself to the holy influences of His presence, you shall have given to you an illumination of mind which the world calls shrewd commonsense, but which is indeed the teaching of the Spirit. Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed, for without His life imparted our believing is dead. We must continue to live by receiving, daily receiving His fullness, hearing behind us the voice saying, This is the way, walk ye in it. Like Joshua, may you have the vision of the Godlike Man with the sword drawn in His hand, and like David, be content to be God's pupil all your life, taught from your youth, that you may declare His wondrous works with pen and voice.

Let us pray together for you. Heavenly Father, we thank Thee that Thou art the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and that every good and perfect gift cometh down from above. Fulfil in our brother and sister the vision which Thou givest, for Thy promise may tarry but it never fails. Guide this dear soul with Thy counsel, that self may be set aside and Christ may be all. Grant not a vision after the pride of personal goals, but that sight of Thy Son and Thy purpose which makes the heart to wonder and to obey. Take the shoes from off our feet in Thy presence, and make us reverent and ready to do Thy will. Seal faith with the impress of the Holy Spirit, and cause this life to be moved and impelled to holy service, to the praise of Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose mighty and powerful name we ask it, amen.

Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
