Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We rejoice with you in your desire to seek God's vision rather than simply following your own personal goals, and we thank you for praying in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in no other name that we are saved.

We love your heart for Proverbs 29:18, and we want to gently bring the full biblical meaning of that verse into focus so you may be even more encouraged. In the World English Bible that verse says, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. The vision spoken of there is not personal ambition or a plan for our own lives, but the revealed word and counsel of God. Without His revelation, His law and His prophetic truth, people wander without restraint. With it, we are blessed because we walk in His light. This aligns with what you have quoted, that Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. James 1:17. Our Father does not change like shifting shadows, and every true vision from Him will be good and perfect and will never contradict His written Word.

We encourage you to seek vision in the biblical way. God does still speak and He does pour out His Spirit, as it is written, It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17. Yet we are also taught to test what we see and hear, Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God. 1 John 4:1. The primary way God gives us vision today is through His Word, which is a lamp to our feet, and a light for our path. Psalm 119:105, and through trusting Him with all our hearts rather than leaning on our own understanding. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. His thoughts toward us are good, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name and we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variation. We thank You that You do not change and that You fulfill what You reveal. We lift up our dear one who longs for Your vision and not merely personal goals. Pour out Your Spirit upon them and grant them discernment, wisdom and clarity. Give them a deep hunger for Your Word, that they may hear Your voice clearly and test every vision against Scripture. Lead them away from leaning on their own understanding and guide their steps so that their life bears fruit for Your glory. If it is Your will, grant them dreams and visions that draw them closer to Christ and confirm Your calling, and keep them from deception. Make Your path straight before them and let them walk in obedience and blessing. We ask this in Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

Thank you for letting us pray with you about this. We hear a sincere desire not to drift on personal ambition but to be led by God, and that matters to Him.

One thing we have found helpful is the difference between a passing fantasy and a true vision from God. Fantasy can feel like a quick answer we manufacture, while a God given vision steadies us, gives direction, and draws our hearts toward what is above rather than just below. It often grows slowly as we walk with Him, not all at once.

A practical step that may help is to keep bringing this before the Lord in Scripture and prayer, and to invite one or two trusted, grounded believers who know you well to listen and pray with you. They can help you test what you are sensing and notice patterns of how God is already leading and gifting you. Writing down what you believe He is stirring, and how it lines up with His character and Word, can bring clarity over time.

Father, thank You for this heart that wants Your way more than its own. Give clarity, humility and wisdom to discern Your calling, and guard from chasing empty ideas. Lead step by step and shape desires to match Yours. In Jesus name, amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Your longing not to follow merely your own personal goals but to be led of the Lord is itself an evidence of grace at work in the heart, and it is right to bring it before Him in prayer.

The text you mention, Where there is no vision, the people perish, speaks not of private dreams or nightly visions as we commonly use the word, but of divine revelation, the Word of the Lord made known by His prophets. Where that prophetic Word is withheld, the people cast off restraint. What you truly need, and what every child of God needs, is not a new revelation beyond Scripture, for we have a more sure Word, but a clearer sight of what God has already revealed, and a heart made willing to walk in it.

Give me but a Word out of God's mouth, and I can live upon it. All else without divine inspiration is unsatisfying. The Lord guides His people with His counsel, and afterward receives them to glory. That guidance comes first by the general directions given in His Word, then by great principles infused in the heart that teaches us to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the divine will. Haste is the author of much mischief, but wisdom dressed in robes of love and tenderness invites us to wait upon the Lord.

Remember also that His purpose stands. You and I are as waves upon His great sea, yet the divine sea of His purpose moves on and is never altered. He effects His purpose while still the creature is free, and this is the miracle of miracles. Your life is not left to chance or to your own scheming. He who has taught you from your youth, as He taught David, will continue to teach you, and He will make you to see His wondrous works in yourself and in His providence.

Therefore let us pray together that you may have true vision, which is spiritual sight to understand His Word and to discern His will.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change like shifting shadows and that every good gift and every perfect gift cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, through whom alone is salvation, that You would give to this Your servant not a restless seeking after novelties, but illumination of heart and mind to behold wondrous things out of Your law. Grant a vision that is indeed from above, a clear apprehension of Christ and of Your holy will revealed in Scripture. Dethrone obstinacy and self will, and give acquiescence in the divine will. Lead by Your counsel, keep from following mere personal goals, and make the path plain through Your Word, through providential interposition, and through the inward teaching of Your Spirit. Fulfil Your own purpose in this life, for Your purpose shall stand, and let Your wisdom appear where human wisdom fails. This we ask in Jesus mighty and powerful name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change and that every good and perfect gift comes from You, the Father of lights. We ask in the name of Jesus that You give our brother or sister a true vision of Yourself through Your Word. Grant wisdom and understanding, open the eyes of the heart to see Your will clearly, and give grace to walk in it. Where there is confusion, bring clarity. Where there is self direction, bring surrender. Lead by Your Spirit and by Scripture, through prayer, through godly counsel, and through open and closed doors, so that life is ordered not by personal ambition but by Your good and perfect will. Keep this heart faithful, obedient, and content to trust You even without a visible sign, knowing that faith is sufficient and that You are faithful to guide. In Jesus mighty and powerful name, amen.

Thank you for sharing this desire to seek the Lord and not simply follow your own plans. That hunger to be led by God is something He honors, and it is right to bring it to Him in prayer.

The verse you mentioned is often understood as a call for personal dreams or pictures, but in its context the word for vision speaks of divine revelation, the unveiling of who God is and what He has said. The book of Revelation itself carries that idea in its very name, which means an unveiling, the removing of a covering so that Jesus Christ is seen clearly. Much of what John and Ezekiel received came as visions, which are a kind of insight into the spiritual reality that surrounds us and that our natural eyes cannot see. Those visions were not given to satisfy curiosity, but to reveal the Lord Himself, His throne, His character, and His future purposes.

That helps clarify what to pray for. Rather than asking mainly for an unusual spiritual experience, the deeper need is for God to unveil Christ to you through His Word and by His Spirit, so that you see Him more clearly and understand His will. Scripture teaches that you were created for His pleasure, not for your own, and that His great purpose for your life is to shape you into the image of His Son. As that work goes forward you begin to respond as He responds, to love as He loves and to forgive as He forgave. When your heart is being formed in that way, you are not perishing for lack of direction, you are living according to the very reason you were made.

Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights, who does not change or shift like a shadow. What He reveals, He is faithful to fulfill. So we can ask Him with confidence to give you clear sight from His Word, a steady understanding of His ways, and a heart that wants above all to please Him.

I pray for you now that the Lord would open your eyes to see Jesus more fully, that He would make His Word alive to you and give you wisdom to walk in it. May He draw you away from self directed goals and give you a settled desire to know Him and to be conformed to Him. May He fill you with love, grace to forgive, and strength to follow where He leads, and may He give you peace as you trust His unchanging character and His faithful promises. In the name of Jesus, amen.
