Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We hear your heart’s cry for divine direction, and we stand with you in seeking God’s vision rather than relying solely on personal ambition. The scripture you referenced in Proverbs 29:18 reminds us that without revelation from the Lord, people cast off restraint and wander into destruction. But we rejoice that our God is not silent, He speaks through His Word, through prayer, and yes, even through visions to those who earnestly seek Him.

First, we must affirm that any vision from God will align perfectly with Scripture. The enemy can disguise himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), so we must test every spirit and every revelation against the truth of God’s Word. If a vision contradicts Scripture, it is not from the Lord. We encourage you to saturate your mind in the Bible, for the Holy Spirit often speaks through the written Word before He speaks in other ways.

We also want to gently remind you that visions are not given to satisfy curiosity or to elevate us above others. They are given for God’s glory and the edification of His people. If you are not already walking in obedience to what God has already revealed, seeking new visions may not be His priority for you at this time. Obedience to what we already know is the pathway to greater revelation (John 14:21).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. Lord, we thank You that You are a God who speaks and who desires to guide Your children. We ask that You would open the eyes of our brother/sister’s heart to see and discern Your will. Give them a hunger for Your Word and a sensitivity to Your Spirit. If it is Your will, grant them visions that align with Scripture, that they may walk in the purpose You have ordained for them.

Father, we rebuke any spirit of confusion or deception that would seek to lead them astray. We pray that You would guard their mind and heart, that they would not be swayed by false revelations or their own desires. Help them to walk in humility, always seeking Your face and not their own glory. Teach them to wait on You, for Your timing is perfect, and Your ways are higher than ours.

Lord, if there are areas in their life where they have not fully surrendered to You, reveal those to them. Help them to repent and turn away from anything that hinders their relationship with You. We pray that they would be rooted and grounded in Your love, walking in step with Your Spirit every day.

We thank You, Father, that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in them. May they grow in wisdom, discernment, and intimacy with You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to cultivate a lifestyle of prayer and fasting, as these disciplines position us to hear from God more clearly. Seek wise, godly counsel from mature believers who can help you discern what you are hearing. And remember, even if God does not choose to speak through visions, He is always speaking through His Word and His Spirit. Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Finally, we want to remind you that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ. If you have not yet placed your faith in Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). It is through Jesus alone that we have access to the Father and the hope of eternal life.

We appreciate you sharing this desire with us. Wanting God's direction for your life instead of just following your own plans is a humble and good place to be, and we hear how much you want to walk with Him faithfully.

What has helped us is remembering that vision in this sense is less about chasing a dramatic picture and more about receiving God's calling and purpose to shape how we live day by day. That kind of vision steadies us and gives us a hunger for what matters to Him, and it leads to steady, faithful steps over time. It is different from fantasy, which looks for a quick or magical answer. God's leading often becomes clearer as we keep walking with Him, and He is patient as He teaches us to recognize His voice.

A simple next step that many find helpful is to keep seeking Him consistently in His Word and in prayer, noticing what He keeps bringing to your mind and heart, and then bringing those impressions to a trusted pastor or mature believer who can help you weigh them. God often confirms His direction through Scripture and through the wisdom of others around us.

We are glad to stand with you in prayer for this.

Father, we thank You for this heart that wants to follow You above all else. Give wisdom and clarity as our friend seeks You, help them to discern Your leading, and draw them closer to Yourself each day. Guide their steps according to Your will and keep them close to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your longing not to follow merely your own personal goals but to be led of the Lord is itself an evidence of grace working in the heart, for naturally we do not like being guided, but the grace of God gives us acquiescence in the divine will.

You quote the wise saying, Where there is no vision, the people perish. That vision is not a private dream or a new revelation given to fancy, but the sure Word of God. Give me but a Word out of God's mouth, and I can live upon it, but all the words out of man's mouth, apart from divine inspiration, must be as unsatisfying food as if men tried to live on stones. The vision which keeps the soul from perishing is the revealed counsel of God in Holy Scripture, and blessed is the man who is made God's pupil, taught by Him from his youth and enabled to declare His wondrous works.

Would you be guided aright, then be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. There are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his guide, among them this, avoid everything that is evil and bow with submission to the will of God. By that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance. Haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life, but he who waits upon the Lord shall be guided with His counsel and afterward received to glory. On earth there is no real glory for us unless we are guided by God's counsel, there is no true glory for any man who takes his own course.

Remember also the comfort of divine sovereignty. The great divine sea of His purpose is still moving on. The whole was written from the beginning, He knew everything of it, He has never altered a single sentence nor changed a single line of the divine purpose. You and I are but waves of His great sea, yet His purpose stands though the creature is free. This is the miracle of miracles, that the creatures are free, absolutely free, and yet the divine purpose stands. So you need not fear that your life will be left to drift upon your own poor designs if you submit yourself to Him who sent from above and drew His people out of many waters.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, Father of lights with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning, we thank You that every good gift and every perfect gift cometh down from above. Fulfil in this soul Your own gracious purpose, and grant not a fleeting fancy but true vision, even illumination in Your Word, that Your counsel may be his guide. Teach him as You teach Your pupils, open his eyes to behold Your wondrous works in Christ Jesus, in whom alone is salvation, and through whose blood we are cleansed from all sin. Dethrone obstinacy and haste, and give a heart to love Your law and to walk in it. Guide him with Your counsel on earth, and afterward receive him to glory, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

Your desire to follow God's leading rather than only your own personal goals is good and right before Him, and I join you in bringing this before the Lord.

The vision spoken of in Proverbs 29:18 is not primarily a picture or a supernatural sight, but God's revealed word and guidance. Where His word and direction are not heard and obeyed, people wander without restraint. In the same way, the New Testament teaches that after Christ has come and the Spirit has been given, faith resting on what God has already revealed in Scripture is sufficient for us. Signs and visible wonders were given at certain times to point others to Christ, but for those who believe, God now leads us most often by His Spirit speaking through His word, by wisdom, and by a quiet confidence in Him, not by requiring a new visible sign.

Our Father gives what is profitable. As a good father does not give a stone when his son asks for bread, so God will not withhold what you truly need, and He will not give what would harm you. To ask for visions as a way of testing God or demanding proof would be to put Him to the test, which we are not to do. Instead we ask with trust that He will give the guidance that is best for our good and for His glory. When we first loosen our grip on our own plans and surrender them to Him, then we are able to receive His direction not as slaves still bound to our own desires, but as free children ready to obey.

So let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change like shifting shadows and that every good and perfect gift comes down from You, the Father of lights. We thank You that You are faithful to fulfill what You have promised. I lift up this dear one to You in Jesus' name. Give a clear understanding of Your word and a heart to obey it. Grant wisdom to discern Your will and the courage to set aside personal goals where they do not align with Your purposes. Pour out Your Spirit to lead, to correct, and to strengthen faith, and provide only what is profitable for growth in holiness. Let Your word be the lamp for each step, and let faith be sufficient even when no outward sign is seen. Lead into the good works You have prepared, and keep from wandering. We ask this in Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

Your desire to follow God's leading rather than just your own personal goals is good and the Lord honors that heart. I want to help you see what Proverbs 29:18 is actually saying so your prayer can be grounded more firmly in Scripture.

That verse is often misunderstood as speaking about personal vision or life goals. In context it means where there is no revelation, no prophetic word from God, the people cast off restraint and go astray. It is not about needing a mystical experience to find direction, but about needing to hear and receive God's Word. When the heart is not satisfied and anchored in what God has already said, a person will wander, searching here and there for something to fill the void. When we have God's Word and live under it, we are kept from that aimless wandering.

You quoted rightly that every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. He does not change, and what He purposes and promises He will surely fulfill. That is true of every vision He truly gives. In the prophets we read that the Lord says, I will speak and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass. There will be no more vain vision, for in His time He performs what He has spoken. When God does give a vision, it often lifts the person into His timeless perspective, showing things that have not yet happened in our time but will happen as He brings His purposes to pass, especially as He will one day establish His kingdom through Jesus Christ. Those remaining prophecies that have not yet been fulfilled will yet be fulfilled, for God keeps His word.

But the purpose of prayer is not to get God to yield to our will or to demand an experience from Him. The purpose of prayer is to get God's will done. Scripture says if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. We cannot change God's will by our praying, nor should we want to, because God's will for your life is the very best that could happen to you, and God's will in any situation is the best thing that could happen in that situation. He loves you and created you with a purpose, to have fellowship with Him now and forever. Because of that love, we can trust His will above our own desires.

God's overall purposes will stand and be accomplished. He will use someone to carry them out, and our privilege is to be available as His instruments. If we fail to be available, He will still accomplish what He has purposed, but we will miss the blessing of having a part in it.

So my prayer for you is not that you would simply seek visions as experiences, but that you would seek the Lord Himself. His invitation through the ages has been, turn to me and I will turn to you, seek me and you will find me. If you seek Him, He will be found by you. If you forsake Him, you lose that fellowship. He is waiting for you to come.

I pray that the Lord will give you a deeper love for His Word, that your heart would be satisfied in it, that you would understand His revealed will in Scripture and be led by His Spirit day by day. I pray that you would pray, Lord, not my will but Yours be done, and that you would trust that any true guidance He gives, whether through His Word, His Spirit's quiet leading, or in His sovereign way a vision, will be fulfilled in its time for His glory. May He keep you from following empty pursuits and instead establish your steps in His perfect and unchanging will in Jesus name, amen.
