Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We hear your heart’s cry for divine direction, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s vision for your life. The Scripture you referenced in Proverbs 29:18 is a powerful reminder that without God’s revelation, His people lack true purpose and can stray into confusion or destruction. It is wise and humble of you to desire His guidance above your own plans, for the Lord declares in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.”

The quote you shared from James 1:17 beautifully affirms that every good and perfect gift, including visions and direction, comes from the Father of lights, who does not change. This is a truth we cling to as we pray for you. However, we must also encourage you to examine your heart and posture before the Lord. Visions from God are not given merely to satisfy curiosity or personal ambition; they are meant to align us with His will, glorify His name, and edify His people. In Habakkuk 2:1, the prophet writes, “I will stand at my watch, and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what he will say to me.” This is the attitude we must cultivate, one of patient waiting, humility, and readiness to obey, not just to receive.

We also want to gently remind you that visions and dreams from the Lord will never contradict His Word. If you seek divine revelation, you must saturate your mind and heart with Scripture, for the Holy Spirit speaks in alignment with the truth already revealed in the Bible. As it is written in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Visions that lead you away from God’s commands or into sin are not from Him.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. We thank You for Your faithfulness to speak to Your children, for You are a God who reveals Your will to those who seek You with a pure heart. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister before You, asking that You would grant them the visions and dreams You have prepared for them. Open their spiritual eyes and ears to perceive Your voice clearly, and give them the discernment to recognize Your leading.

Father, we ask that You would purify their motives. Let them seek Your vision not for personal gain or pride, but for Your glory and the advancement of Your kingdom. Remove any distractions or idols in their heart that might hinder them from hearing You clearly. Teach them to wait on You in patience, trusting that Your timing is perfect. As they meditate on Your Word, let it be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105).

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of confusion, fear, or deception that would seek to distort Your voice or lead them astray. We declare that Your sheep hear Your voice, and they follow You (John 10:27). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who will guide them into all truth (John 16:13). May they walk in step with You, surrendering their own plans and desires to Your perfect will.

We also pray for wisdom and godly counsel. Surround them with mature believers who can help them test and confirm the visions You give. Let them be rooted in a community of faith where they can grow in discernment and accountability. Above all, Father, let their life reflect Your Son, Jesus Christ, in word, deed, and purpose.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved and through which we have access to You. May Your will be done in their life, and may they bring You honor in all they do. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord with a heart of worship and obedience. Spend time in His presence daily, not just asking for visions, but listening for His voice. Study the Scriptures diligently, for they are the foundation of all true revelation. And remember, the greatest vision God has given us is the call to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:30-31). If you are not yet part of a local body of believers, we strongly encourage you to find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in faith and be discipled.

May the Lord bless you and keep you; may He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may He lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26). Walk closely with Him, and He will direct your steps.

We appreciate you sharing this desire so plainly, you want God's direction for your life, not just your own plans. That hunger to be led by Him is a good place to be, and we are glad to pray with you for clarity.

One thought that may help as you seek Him is that vision is less like a sudden picture and more like a steady sense of calling that shapes how we live day by day. It is different from just wishing for an easy answer. A vision from God tends to draw us closer to Him and to what He loves, and it often becomes clearer as we walk faithfully with Him over time.

A simple next step that may help is to set aside unhurried time each day to pray and listen, and to write down what you sense God is putting on your heart. Then bring those notes to Scripture and to a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you, and ask them to help you weigh what you are sensing. That kind of steady testing with God's Word and community often brings clarity.

Father, we lift our friend to You. Give wisdom and quiet confidence as they seek You. Lead away from empty striving and toward Your good purposes, and help them recognize Your voice as they follow Jesus. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your longing after a vision from God rather than the pursuit of your own personal goals is itself a hopeful sign of a work of grace upon your heart, for naturally we do not like being guided and would rather follow our own way.

Where there is no vision, the people perish, as the wise man saith, but blessed be God, He has not left His people without guidance. The vision you seek is not mere imagination or the ambition of the flesh, but that heavenly calling of which the apostle speaks, a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. It is a calling from heaven and a calling to heaven, and when it comes it lifts up the heart and sets it upon heavenly things, upon eternity, holiness and Christ Himself.

Do not think that you must force a vision by your own striving. Effectual calling springs from the divine purpose and is wrought by divine energy. As I have often said, mere nature at its best falls short of eternal life, its bow too weak to shoot to the mark. The Lord must call, and when He calls His sheep by name they hear His voice and follow Him. Your part is to wait upon Him, to be attentive to that mind of Christ which is expressed by the Holy Spirit in divine monitions within, and to have the Law of the Book with you and the Law of the Spirit within you.

Haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Therefore press not hastily, but press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, avoiding everything that is evil and bowing with submission to the will of God. By that very acquiescence you are furnished with unerring guidance. The Lord who guided David when he was but a shepherd boy will guide you, for wisdom dressed in robes of love and tenderness invites you to run into her arms.

Let us pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, we thank Thee that Thou dost not change like shifting shadows, and that every good gift and every perfect gift cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Fulfil, we beseech Thee, Thy gracious purpose in this soul. Grant a clear vision of Christ and of Thy will as revealed in Thy Word, that this thy servant may not perish for lack of vision nor walk in the counsel of personal ambition, but may be effectually called and led by Thy Spirit. Let Thy divine presence dissolve all difficulties and make the path plain. Speak, Lord, for thy servant heareth, and cause this one to hear Thy voice and to follow Thee without delay, finding rest in Christ alone. We ask this in Jesus mighty and powerful name, amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been heard and I join you in bringing it before the Lord, giving thanks for your desire not to follow your own plans but to walk in His will.

You quoted Proverbs 29:18, where there is no vision the people perish. That vision does not mean personal goals or ambitions, or a picture of success that we make for ourselves. In Scripture it means the revealed word and counsel of God, His prophetic revelation, His law and truth made known to His people. Where that revelation is absent or despised, people indeed cast off restraint and wander. Where it is present and obeyed, there is life and order. So the true vision you need is not a new private dream, but a clear and steady sight of what God has already spoken, and a heart to obey it.

Scripture teaches that God has at times granted visions, as He did to Peter in Joppa or to others for a distinct purpose in His plan, yet those sensible signs were given not for the sake of show but to teach and to point to Christ, often for the sake of those who needed to be convinced. For those who believe, faith sufficing instead of all, we do not need to seek signs, for signs are not for those who believe but for those who do not yet believe. What we need most is a healthy eye of the understanding, a mind kept clear and not turbid or confused by evil thoughts, so that we do not mistake phantoms for truth. A disordered eye mistakes what is before it, and so does a mind that chases visions for their own sake.

There have been faithful men and women, like Antony of Egypt, to whom a divine vision was vouchsafed, yet what proved the truth of their life was not the vision alone but that they lived a life as the laws of Christ require, in self denial, prayer, and obedience, and in holding fast to the true faith. The vision did not replace obedience, it led to it.

Therefore my prayer for you is not that you would simply have remarkable experiences, but that God, the Father of lights with whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning, from whom every good and perfect gift comes down, would grant you true sight. That is sight to know His eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord, to understand His word, to discern His will, and to walk in it with humility and faithfulness.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change like shifting shadows and that You fulfill what You have promised. We thank You that You have spoken fully in Your Son and in Your written word. I ask for this dear one who desires to follow You and not personal goals. Grant a true vision, a clear revelation of Christ and of Your will through Your word. Cleanse the eye of understanding, keep it healthy and free from distorted and imaginary phantoms, and give wisdom to receive every good gift that comes from above. Lead away from seeking signs for their own sake, and lead toward faith, obedience, and love. Show Your eternal purpose in Christ, and give grace to walk in it day by day. If in Your wisdom You grant a vision or dream, give also discernment to test it by Scripture and by the counsel of Your people, and keep this life grounded in holiness and truth. Fulfill in this life what is according to Your will, for Your glory.

In Jesus mighty and powerful name, amen.
