Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..."

Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

We hear your heart’s cry for divine guidance, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s vision for your life. Proverbs 29:18 indeed warns, "Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law is happy." This verse reminds us that without God’s direction, we risk wandering in our own strength, which leads to emptiness. But when we align ourselves with His Word and His will, we find true joy and purpose.

First, we must address the foundation of your request. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so now. Salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). Without Him, we cannot truly hear from God or receive His visions. If you have already placed your faith in Christ, we rejoice with you and encourage you to deepen your relationship with Him through prayer, fasting, and the study of Scripture.

Now, let us pray together for God to grant you His vision:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking that You would open the eyes of our brother/sister’s heart to see Your will clearly. Lord, Your Word says in Habakkuk 2:1, 'I will stand at my watch, and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what He will speak to me.' We ask that You would speak to him/her in dreams, visions, and through Your still, small voice. Remove any distractions, fears, or doubts that may hinder him/her from hearing You. Give him/her a hunger for Your Word and a sensitivity to Your Spirit. May he/she not lean on his/her own understanding but trust in You with all his/her heart (Proverbs 3:5-6). Lord, we rebuke any spirit of confusion or deception that would seek to lead him/her astray. We declare that Your plans for him/her are for good and not for harm, to give him/her a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen."

We encourage you to cultivate a lifestyle of seeking God’s face. Spend time in worship, prayer, and fasting, as these disciplines position your heart to hear from Him. Remember, God often speaks in whispers (1 Kings 19:12), so be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). Write down any impressions, dreams, or verses that stand out to you, and test them against Scripture to ensure they align with God’s Word (1 John 4:1).

If you are struggling with sin, whether it be pride, lust, unforgiveness, or anything else, we urge you to repent and turn away from it. Sin creates a barrier between us and God (Isaiah 59:2). Confess your sins to Him, and He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). A pure heart is more receptive to God’s voice.

Lastly, surround yourself with godly believers who can confirm what you believe God is speaking to you. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Seek wise, mature Christians who can pray with you and offer biblical guidance.

We believe God has great things in store for you as you seek His vision. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He will lead you into all truth (John 16:13).

We’re glad you brought this desire before the Lord. Wanting God’s direction rather than simply drifting after your own plans is a humble and wise place to be. Proverbs 29:18 speaks of the need for God’s revelation, His Word and His guidance, to keep us on course. That kind of vision often grows not in dramatic flashes, but as we steadily open our hearts to Him through Scripture, prayer, and the wisdom of other believers.

A simple next step might be to set aside unhurried time each day to read a portion of the Bible and ask, “Lord, what are you shaping in me? What matters to you today?” Over time, you’ll likely find that your personal goals start to be reshaped around His heart. And if there’s a mature Christian friend or pastor you trust, sharing your journey can help you test what you’re sensing and stay grounded.

We are praying with you, that God will sharpen your spiritual sight, and that you’ll walk forward with a deep sense that He is leading.

Lord Jesus, thank you for this hunger to follow your path. Quiet any inner noise that would drown out your voice. Through your Word, steady prayer, and the counsel of the faithful, give a clear and growing sense of the direction you have for this life. Align each goal with your kingdom purposes, and give courage to walk it out. In your name we pray, Amen.

You plead for visions from God, lest you follow your own goals. This is a wise fear, for the carnal heart ever spins its own web of vanity. But know this, the vision which keeps men from perishing is not a flight of ecstatic fancy nor a private revelation apart from the Word. It is the sight of God Himself, His will made known, His truth impressed upon the soul by the Spirit, so that the man is bound to walk not after his own lusts, but after the divine command. When the Holy Ghost illuminates the Scripture, and you behold the Lord high and lifted up, and hear the rod of His authority, then you have that vision which snatches a man from chaos and makes him live indeed.

You ask prayer that you may receive these visions. I would not merely pray for you, but I would set you in the way where such sights are given. The revealed will of God in this Book, from the first word of Genesis to the last line of Revelation, is the seat of all true vision. It will never mislead you; it has never misled anybody. But you must come to it not as a critic, but as a pupil, crying, “Open Thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Thy law.” Learn it, and then teach it, and so shall the truth be kept sweet and alive. The soul that hoards knowledge breeds mildew; he that sows it reaps freshness. Your own goals will wither under the plough of that sacred study, for the Word is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, dividing asunder soul and spirit, and it discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Yet more. It is the very office of the Spirit to make you willing in the day of God’s power, to work in you to will and to do of His own good pleasure. He does not override your agency as a man, but He so sweetly inclines your affections and enlightens your understanding that you freely choose what God decrees. Then you will not merely say, “I will do this or that,” but always, in thought if not in word, “If the Lord will.” The fool grows brutish when he fancies that he can both propose and dispose without asking God’s consent. But the child of God, beholding the divine will as the axle of the universe, bows before the great “I will” of Jehovah, those “shalls” and “wills” which depend not upon the fickle nod of man. When you see that, you will not dare to run after your own private goals; you will be mastered by a heavenly purpose, and your life will move in the orbit He has traced.

So then, I charge you: seek not signs and wonders, but turn your eye to the cross. There is the vision which slays all pride. Look into His hands and His feet; read there the terrible writing of divine vengeance against sin. When you see what your sin cost Him, your own petty ambitions will be burned up. And remember, if you are Christ’s, you are not your own; you are bought with a price. He did not pluck you as a brand from the burning merely to let you follow your own devices. He will not leave His purpose half accomplished. Walk, then, in the light of that vision, and as you do, you shall find His fatherly pity bearing with your slowness, teaching you nineteen times, then twenty times, because He pities your dust.

Therefore, let this be your prayer, not that you see strange things, but that you may know the will of God and do it. And let your resolution stand firm: “I will go back to the Lord’s way, for His God has spoken to me. I will bear the yoke, I will keep His statutes, I will wait upon Him; and whatsoever mine eyes may see, I will trust not in them but in His sure Word.” So shall you not perish for lack of vision. The eternal God will be your guide even unto death.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask for visions, but consider what the Apostle says: Christ Himself learned obedience through what He suffered. The Son of God, though He was Son, gained this through affliction, and in this way He became perfect and the source of salvation to all who obey Him. If He, the Lord of the sea who walked upon the waves as on dry pavement, did not rely on flashes of revelation to supplant humble submission, neither should we. The true vision that keeps a people from perishing is not a parade of spectacles, but a steady beholding of the Father’s will, already made known in His incarnate Word.

Do not think that personal goals are shattered only by ecstatic sights. They are dissolved by the daily dying of obedience. The Jews passed through the Red Sea, but Moses did all with prayer and as a servant; Christ, with absolute power, allowed the water to bear Him, thereby showing His lordship. If you wish to escape the tyranny of self, cast yourself not upon the longing for new revelations, but upon the revealed command. You need both your own earnest striving and the grace of God; prayer without works is empty, and works without prayer are blind. The greatest weapon against self-will is the discipline of doing what you have already been told.

Be careful that in seeking a vision you do not trample the pearls already given you. Many desire lofty sights while neglecting the lowly path of suffering and obedience. But it is those who are trained by habit and the authority of love, not by signs only, who become dear to the Master. Learn obedience as Christ did, through the things you suffer, and you will find that vision, true discernment of God’s purposes, grows within you. This is perfection, and by no other means can you arrive at it. Pray, then, but let your request be shaped by this: that you may obey what you have seen in the face of Jesus Christ, for to serve Him is to see clearly, and to follow your own goals is to walk in darkness.

The request you bring from Proverbs is a vital one. A true vision from God is not a personal roadmap drafted by our own ambitions. At its heart, it is an unveiling. When John received his great revelation on Patmos, what was lifted from his eyes was not a blueprint for his own life, but the person of Jesus Christ himself, radiant in glory. A vision of God does more than give you a goal; it gives you a center.

This is exactly where a vision born of the Spirit differs from merely following personal goals. The Spirit’s work is to conform us into the image of Christ. The purpose is not that you would find a way to be more personally fulfilled, but that you would respond as He responds, love as He loves, and forgive as He forgave. When you ask for a vision, you are asking for insight into the spiritual world, to see beyond the limited horizons of your own desires. John was "in the Spirit" on the Lord's day when the vision came. That spiritual posture, a heart set on worship, is the ground in which such a vision grows.

Think of the foundation of your very existence. You were not created for your own pleasure, but for God's. That means the most fulfilling life is one that answers that original purpose. A true vision from God will always pull you into a deeper, more meaningful relationship with him, and by doing so, it will sear away the lukewarm self-interest that clings so easily. His eyes are like a flame of fire, not only seeing all things but purifying what is precious from the dross. This kind of vision will purge your own plans, refining them until only what pleases him remains.

Receive this, but also understand what it invites. When the Lord unveils his purpose, he often reveals a conflict with the world and its ruler right alongside it. The vision may call for faithfulness in places where it is easier to blend in. It will ask you to hold fast to his name in the exact place where you dwell. Yet do not fear. The same vision that reveals the war also reveals the Victor, the Lamb who is worthy to redeem what was lost. He who began this work in you is intent on completing it. He has sealed you with his Spirit as the down payment of that redemption. The crown of life is promised not to the one who had a clever plan, but to the one found faithful.

A Prayer for This Unveiling

Father, in the name of Jesus, answer this deep, sincere plea. Lift the wraps from the spiritual world and grant a true unveiling of your Son to this heart. Let the vision of Christ’s glory eclipse every small, personal ambition. Reorder every priority so that bringing you pleasure becomes the commanding purpose. Refine the motives with your eyes of fire, burning away all dross. Grant a steadfast spirit that holds fast to your name, no matter where you have placed your feet. May this life be conformed to the image of Jesus, responding as he responds, loving as he loves.

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious unto you.
