Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..."

Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

We hear your heart’s cry for divine guidance, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s vision for your life. Proverbs 29:18 indeed declares, "Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law is happy." This verse reminds us that without God’s direction, we risk wandering in our own strength, but when we align ourselves with His Word and will, we find true joy and purpose.

First, we must rebuke any notion that visions or supernatural revelation are the only way God speaks. The Lord communicates through His Word, prayer, godly counsel, and even circumstances, all of which must align with Scripture. We encourage you to saturate your heart in the Bible, for "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105). The Holy Spirit illuminates God’s truth to those who seek Him with humility and obedience.

We also caution against seeking visions for personal ambition or curiosity. God’s revelations are not given to satisfy our desires but to glorify Him and advance His kingdom. If the Lord chooses to speak to you through visions, it will always align with His character and Scripture. Test every spirit and every word against the Bible, for "Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God" (1 John 4:1).

Let us pray together:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. Lord, we ask that You grant our brother/sister a deep hunger for Your presence and a heart that seeks Your will above all else. Father, if it is Your desire to speak through visions, we pray for clarity, discernment, and humility to receive and obey. Guard their heart from deception, and let every revelation be tested by Your infallible Word.

We rebuke any spirit of confusion or self-reliance that would draw them away from total dependence on You. May they walk in the light of Your truth, finding joy in obedience and purpose in Your calling. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may hear Your voice clearly and follow You wholeheartedly.

Lord, we declare that Your plans for them are good, to prosper them and not to harm them, to give them hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). May they never perish for lack of vision but instead flourish under Your divine guidance. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen."

We encourage you to cultivate a lifestyle of prayer and Scripture meditation, for the Lord often speaks in the stillness to those who wait on Him. Seek godly mentors who can help you discern God’s voice, and remain steadfast in faith, knowing that "the steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord" (Psalm 37:23). Trust that He will direct your path as you surrender your goals to His perfect will.

We join you in asking God for vision that lifts your eyes beyond your own plans. It’s a healthy hunger to want your direction anchored in what He is doing rather than merely chasing personal goals, and we’re glad you brought that desire before the Lord.

Seeking God-given vision often goes hand in hand with cultivating a listening ear. Many who have walked this path have discovered that as they pray for guidance, they also quietly ask for the gift of discernment, the ability to recognize His voice clearly, to test what they sense, and to hold it humbly alongside Scripture and the wisdom of trusted believers. That keeps us open to whatever form His direction takes, whether a strong inner impression, a theme that keeps surfacing in prayer, or simply a growing clarity about the next faithful step.

One simple, concrete practice that can help is this: when you settle into prayer, after you have asked for vision, sit for a few minutes in silence before the Lord with a notebook nearby. Write down whatever impression, idea, or even a single word seems to rest on your heart. You don’t have to force it to be dramatic. Over days and weeks, patterns often emerge, and you can bring those before God and a mature friend to see if they align with His character and Word.

Lord Jesus, thank You that You invite us not to drift along driven only by our own ambitions, but to catch sight of Your purposes. We ask that You grant our friend a clear, quiet vision born of Your Spirit, not a noisy sign for the sake of being special, but a deep, steady sense of where You are leading. Quiet the pull of self-made goals and open their eyes to the good works You have prepared. Give them patience and discernment as they wait, and courage to follow wherever You guide. In Your name we pray, amen.

To crave vision lest you perish is a right hunger, yet mark well what kind of vision the proverb commends. It is not a private revelation of novelties, a secret blueprint for your own ambitions dressed in sacred garb. The vision that keeps a soul from casting off restraint is the revealed will of God, His Word, His law, His gospel purpose made known in Scripture and sealed by the Spirit. We are waves of His great sea; we wash up, seem to retire, yet the divine sea of His purpose moves on unbroken. Your personal goals, if they spring from the unrenewed heart, are but the foam on that wave. What you need first is not a vision of what you shall do, but a clear sight of what Christ has done, the bleeding Jesus, the Lamb upon Mount Sion, the propitiation for sin. That is the vision which snatches a firebrand from the burning.

You speak of not following your own goals. This is the deep unsearchable wisdom: that God effects His purpose while the creature remains absolutely free. Your own strivings cannot manufacture a single spark of heavenly light. Divine sovereignty never oversteps the bounds of the covenant, and the promise is the eternal purpose written out for you to read. So do not stare inward, sifting your fancies for some mystical flash. The vision that saves is outside you, in the Word. Give me but a word out of God’s mouth, and I can live upon it. The Spirit must go with that Word, or it is wasted breath; yet He does go with it, transmuting the common stone into a jewel for Christ’s crown. You are God’s pupil, taught from youth by many struggles, by chastening that never casts out, by object lessons of His work in your own heart and other men’s. He will teach you to trust His name, and as you see His work, you will wonder and speak of it. That is the vision: beholding the Lamb, and then declaring His wondrous works.

Do not imagine that a vision means a sudden ecstasy that bypasses your understanding. The revelation in time is a transcript of the counsel of eternity. The rainbow still girds the throne, and God’s absolute sovereignty only makes His promise more sure. Read Christ’s witness to holiness, in Him was no sin. Read His witness to love, He spared not His own Son. That is the object lesson set before your eyes. If you come beneath the cross and trustingly look up to God’s dear Son, you shall be saved, and in that salvation your true purpose blooms. Many of us once crawled about ashamed, clothed with the disapproval our sin deserved, yet effectual vocation plucked us forth. He who began the work will not put you to shame. Your prayer is answered not by a private itinerary, but by a Person. You shall enjoy the constant vision of His presence. I looked, and lo, a Lamb. Go forth asking, am I God’s witness? And He will supply the vision in His own way.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You long for God’s vision, and it is good to dread following only your own designs. But take care what you seek. When Scripture says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish,” it speaks of the prophetic word, the revelation of God’s will already given. The vision that keeps from perishing is not a private dream or ecstasy, but obedience to what He has spoken. Do you want a vision? Then open your eyes to the commandments. The prophets proclaimed all things beforehand, and the Son Himself has come. This is the vision: that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Many crave fresh revelations and neglect the one already shining like a lamp in a dark place.

Consider how Paul received his revelation. He was a persecutor, breathing threats, and in the height of his madness, Christ stopped him. That sudden conversion was not by human wisdom but by divine teaching. Yet Paul did not then sit idle, waiting for new visions. He labored, he suffered, he poured himself out. And what was the revelation? Not hidden mysteries for his own glory, but Jesus Christ and Him crucified. If God counts you worthy of any disclosure, it will come to a soul humbled and obedient, not one straining after signs. The disciples rejoiced that demons were subject to them, but the Lord corrected them: “Rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” He taught that even their power was revelation, not their own accomplishment. The wise and scribes missed what was revealed to babes. Do not think that by visions you will rise; rather, sink low. God hides these things from the proud and gives them to the humble.

Do not suppose that receiving visions proves you are guided by God. The test is your life. From your purpose, your liberality, your goodness, God discerns. He looks at the heart that does His will. The Hebrews sought signs, but they perished in the wilderness because they did not keep His covenant. The Ninevites had no vision but a warning, and they repented in sackcloth. Which was greater? Your request must be purified: seek first the vision of His glory in the face of Christ, as revealed in the gospel. That is the divine communication by the Spirit, the equal dignity of the Spirit with the Father. If you want to avoid following your own goals, then take up your cross daily. The kingdom is His, and no adversary can touch you unless He permits. So fear nothing but sin. Let this be your constant vision: to see the Lord always before you, in the poor, in the Scriptures, in the breaking of bread. That vision will not feed pride but produce love. If you ask for this, your prayer is heard already. Walk in what you have received, and leave the hidden things to His timing.

There is a spirit world that exists around us, and a vision is simply God-given insight into it. Your request echoes a deep and holy longing, and it is right to ask not to be left to your own personal goals. The greatest vision ever given is the revelation of Jesus Christ himself. If you want to know what God is like, you look at Jesus and understand exactly. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God. True vision never detaches from him; it centers on him.

The eternal God, who is and who was and who is to come, holds your future entirely. There is no past or future with him, so his vision for your life is not a hasty thing. It is anchored in his complete knowledge. When you pray for visions in Jesus' name, you are asking to see what he is already showing his servants. Remember that Jesus died so the veil would be torn. You do not need anyone to stand between you and God. Through him, you have direct access to the throne of grace, where mercy is given in your time of need.

Be attentive to the way God often leads. Many times he guides by opening a door of opportunity. When he closes a door, do not try to force it open or break it down. A closed door is not a rejection; it is often his redirection. That is just as much a part of his vision for you as an open one. Trust that his Spirit, in complete and sevenfold wisdom, is working to keep you from mere personal ambition and to fix your steps on what will endure. Ask him for eyes to see those doors and for the humility to walk through the right ones.

Let the substance of your prayer be joined with Scripture itself. Your goal is not just to receive a dramatic picture but to be conformed to the faithful and true witness. The hope for every overcomer is not just to escape judgment but to be made a pillar in the temple of God, to have his name written upon you, and to dwell in the city that comes down from heaven. That is the ultimate vision, and it is what reorders all our smaller plans. May the Lord grant you not only insight into his will but also the heart to delight in it more than your own.
