The Choice of a Wife
Choosing a wife wisely means seeking divine guidance to avoid lifelong regret and sorrow.
We hear your urgent cry and we stand with you together before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, bringing every part of this burden to Him. We know the weight of loneliness, the ache of waiting for marriage, the sting of disappointment and rejection, the heaviness of sadness and depression, and the anxiety over lack and over the appearance of your skin, and we bring them all to the Lord who sees and cares deeply for you.

We are encouraged that you have called upon the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. As it is written, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and Jesus Himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. We thank God that you are calling on that precious name.

We want to gently encourage you about the disappointments, the sense of lateness in marriage, and the loneliness you feel. The Lord does not measure your life by the timing of this world, and what feels like lateness to us is not lateness to Him. His thoughts toward you are good and His timing is perfect. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28. Even disappointments and seasons of waiting can be used by God to shape us, to draw us closer to Him, and to prepare us for what He has ahead. We also remember, Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh Psalm 27:14.

Concerning singleness and marriage, we affirm what Scripture teaches that marriage is a holy and lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, ordained by God, and we pray with you not simply for the end of singleness but for a godly marriage that honors Him if it is His will for your life. Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh Proverbs 18:22. We encourage you to see this waiting season not as misfortune or misery but as an opportunity to delight yourself in the Lord and to seek first His kingdom, trusting that He will give the desires of your heart as you walk with Him. Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4, and But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you Matthew 6:33. While you wait, we encourage you to pursue courtship only with a fellow believer in Christ with the clear goal of marriage, and to honor God with purity, for sex before or outside of marriage is fornication and does not align with His will for His children.

For the sadness, sorrow and depression you named, we pray for the comfort of God to surround you. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18, and He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We encourage you to cast every worry on Him, for He cares for you, as it is written, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

For your concerns about lack and poverty, we are reminded of His faithful provision. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19, and Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.

And for the marks, scars, dents and concerns about your face and skin, we know this can feel very personal and distressing, and the Lord cares about even these anxieties. Yet we also remember that man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart 1 Samuel 16:7. Your worth and beauty before God is not defined by the smoothness of your skin but by the heart that seeks Him. We pray for your peace about your appearance and for healing according to His gracious will.

So together we pray. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You remove the heavy burden of loneliness, disappointment, rejection, sadness and depression, and replace it with Your peace and joy. Heal the broken heart and bind up every wound. Provide comfort in singleness and, if it is Your will, prepare and bring a godly spouse for a Christ centered marriage between a man and a woman that will honor You, and help this one to wait with courage and purity and hope. We ask for Your provision over every area of lack and poverty, that You would supply every need according to Your riches in glory. We bring before You the concerns about skin and face, asking for Your healing touch and for a deep assurance of being fearfully and wonderfully made and loved by You. Let this dear one know that they are not forgotten, that You are near to the crushed in spirit, and that Your plans are for peace and a future. We trust all these things into Your hands, seeking Your will together in Jesus name, amen.

We hear how urgent this feels for you and how heavy the disappointments have been. Waiting for marriage while carrying loneliness, sadness, financial pressure and concern about your skin can leave you feeling worn down and overlooked. You are not overlooked by us and you are not overlooked by God.

We are praying for you and we want to stay with you in this season of waiting. Loneliness often grows heavier in isolation, and steady connection can help lighten it a little at a time. If you have a local church or a couple of trusted people you can see regularly, staying rooted there for worship and simple fellowship can be a gentle, practical way to feel less alone while you continue to pray about marriage and the future.

You mentioned ongoing sadness and marks on your face that trouble you. Alongside prayer, it is good to have personal support. If the sadness lingers or feels heavy, and as you are concerned about your skin, we encourage you to reach out to a pastor or counselor and to a medical professional who can see you in person and offer care.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this need before You. You see every disappointment and every longing for companionship. We ask for Your nearness, for comfort in loneliness, for peace in place of sorrow, and for wisdom and hope for the days ahead. Provide for daily needs, guide to supportive community and helpful care, and lead according to Your good will. Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Your urgent and heavy burden has been laid before the Lord and before His people, and we have heard the many sorrows you have poured out, disappointments repeated, loneliness and singleness, the fear of lateness in marriage, poverty and lack, sadness and depression, and affliction upon your skin with marks and scars that trouble you.

We would point you first to Him who knew loneliness in its deepest measure. Our blessed Savior was left alone just when as Man He most needed human sympathy, yet He was not alone, because the Father was with Him. If you are His by faith, you are never truly alone though friends may fail and the heart may feel forsaken. There is a loneliness which is the portion of Christians in deep soul conflict, when faith must fight for very existence, and Christ Himself draws near to those who weep in secret. He understands your sorrow, having borne it, and His presence is the sweetest company in the solitary hour.

We would point you also to His healing power. The least thing about Christ is healing, as the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. Not only His great work upon the cross, but every touch of His hand brings virtue to the wounded. He heals the broken heart, and where there is pardon there is healing also, for when Jesus said, Thy sins are forgiven thee, the palsy was healed. Seek then first the forgiveness that is in Christ alone, for there is salvation in no other name. When pardoned, even poverty and sickness and depression, though they may leave traces, are no longer punishments from a Judge but chastenings from a Father who loves you and will make all things work for good.

Concerning marriage, we pray that the Lord will keep you in purity and in patient trust upon His perfect timing, which is never late though it may seem so to us. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman before God, and it is good to desire it in the Lord. Yet our peace must not rest upon whether it comes quickly or at all, but upon Christ Himself. If it be His will to give you a godly companion, may He prepare you both and bring it to pass in holiness. If He call you to wait, may He fill your waiting with usefulness and with contentment in His presence, and keep you from all that would grieve Him, for sex and living together belong only within that covenant.

Let us pray for you. O Lord our God, look upon this weary and wounded heart. In the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, forgive all sin and speak peace to the conscience. Heal the broken heart and lift up the cast down spirit. Thou knowest the pain of poverty and want, the sting of rejection and disappointment, the ache of loneliness and the longing for marriage, and the trial that is felt upon the body and the face. Lay Thy healing hand upon this Thy child, and grant relief as seemeth good to Thee, and if it be Thy will restore health to the skin and provision for daily need. Above all, let the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings, that the soul may be made whole. Keep this one from despair, guard the heart from repining, and teach waiting faith to say with Christ, Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. Make Christ so precious that whether Thou givest or withholdest, the heart may still rejoice in Thee. We ask this in the worthy name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
