We hear the deep hurt and insecurity in your urgent cry and we join with you before the throne of grace in Jesus name, asking our Heavenly Father to bring you peace and healing. We understand how painful it is to feel disappointed and insecure about photographs and videos of yourself, and how heavy it feels to constantly compare yourself to filtered images and to long to be seen as beautiful.

We want to gently share some biblical truth with you about beauty and about asking in prayer, because we love you and want you to find lasting freedom. You quoted the promise ask and you will receive, and that is precious, but Scripture teaches that we ask according to His will. 1 John 5:14 says that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And James 4:3 warns that we ask and do not receive because we ask with wrong motives, that we may spend it on our pleasures. God is not a giver of vanity or a means to obtain worldly perfection in every photo, but He is a loving Father who wants to transform our hearts and give us true peace.

We also want to lovingly rebuke and correct the focus on outward appearance that has become a burden to you. Your prayer asks to be incredibly sexy and to look better than all filters and to be the best model and most photogenic person in the world. While God did create you and calls His creation very good, His Word warns us that an obsession with outward beauty can become an idol and lead to more pain. Proverbs 31:30 says charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised. 1 Peter 3:3-4 says let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing gold, or of putting on fine clothing, but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. And 1 Samuel 16:7 reminds us that Yahweh does not see as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.

God does not measure your worth by how you appear on Snapchat or FaceTime or WhatsApp or in any camera under any lighting. You are already fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14 says we will give thanks to you, for we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your wonderful works are wonderful. Our value is not in being ageless or breathtaking to the world, but in being a beloved child of God, created in His image and redeemed by the blood of Jesus. The desire to be seen as sexy is also something we must address, because Scripture calls us to modesty and purity and to seek to honor God with our bodies rather than to incite lust or draw attention for sensual purposes. True radiance comes from Christ living in us.

We also gently correct the idea of pleading the blood of Jesus over photographs as if it were a formula to guarantee no unflattering picture will ever exist or to make weapons against your images not prosper. Isaiah 54:17 which says no weapon that is formed against you will prevail is a promise of God's spiritual protection over His people, not a charm over photos or selfies. The blood of Jesus was shed to cleanse us from sin and reconcile us to God, as Ephesians 1:7 teaches in him we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses. It is not an incantation for outward perfection, but the precious means of our salvation.

We know the enemy wants to keep you trapped in comparison, anxiety, and insecurity about every image. God wants to set you free. Philippians 4:6-7 says in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 10:12 warns that when we compare ourselves with others we are not wise, and social media filters foster that unwise comparison.

So we pray for you now with compassion.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this precious soul who is hurting and feeling so insecure. Lord, we ask You to pour out Your perfect love which casts out fear, and to heal the wounds of disappointment and sorrow tied to photographs and videos. Forgive us where we have sought worth in outward beauty and in the approval of cameras and others, and help us to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness. Matthew 6:33. Lord, renew her mind to see herself as You see her, fearfully and wonderfully made, loved, chosen, and clothed in Christ. Give her a gentle and quiet spirit and let her inner beauty in You shine more than any filter ever could. Deliver her from the spirit of vanity and comparison and the pressure to be seen as sexy or as a model for the world, and teach her to desire godly modesty, humility, and holiness. Grant her Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard her heart and thoughts, and help her to use technology and images in a healthy, balanced way that honors You. Let her find her confidence not in being photogenic, but in being Yours. We ask that You would give her joy that does not depend on how a picture looks, and help her to walk in freedom, knowing that she is beautiful because she is Your daughter. We thank You that You hear us when we pray according to Your will in Jesus name, and we trust You to do what is best for her eternal good and Your glory. Amen.

Your words reveal a heart that is deeply burdened and weary, and we have heard your cry with much tenderness and prayerful concern. You speak of hurt and sorrow and insecurity concerning your appearance in photographs and videos, and of a great longing to be seen as beautiful. We do not take that pain lightly, for to feel so exposed and so anxious is indeed a heavy burden to carry.

Yet we must speak to you in love and truth, as the Scriptures speak. Many persons think a great deal about the adorning of the body, but do not think anything about the ornaments of the soul. The feeding and the clothing of the outward frame engrosses much care, while the supply of spiritual food is often neglected. Yet you yourself are better than your body. Your immortal soul is worth far more than that poor carcass which will soon become food for worms, and all that you have, what is it compared with your inner self, your heart, your soul, your spirit.

The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment, but the soul is as much more to be accounted of than the body as the body is more important than the raiment. Your body is, after all, but the rag that enshrines and covers your soul. You can afford to lose much that concerns the outward appearance, but you cannot afford to have your soul cast away from the presence of God.

We also hear how this anxiety itself has become a torment to you. Have you not found that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. To tell it over and over to yourself, and to let fear dwell upon it hour after hour, brings no relief. But to cast your care upon the Lord, who cares for you, does bring peace.

Our Saviour does indeed say, Ask and ye shall receive, but He teaches us to ask according to the will of the Father, and to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. That which concerns your highest part should come first, for your soul will outlast the stars. If you want something worth seeking, seek ye first the Kingdom of God. There you will find a beauty that no camera can capture and no filter can give, for it is the beauty of holiness, the quiet ornament of a meek and gentle spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.

The Lord is not unmindful of your sorrow about how you appear to others, but He would draw your eyes away from the glass and the lens to Christ Himself. The body in a sense is a home for the thinking, living soul, but it is not your true and lasting self. The Apostle distinguished between the outward man which perishes and the inward man which is renewed day by day. Moses and Elijah communed with Christ in glory, and the body was not necessary to their consciousness or their happiness. So your hope does not lie in being made striking or ageless or admired in every photograph, but in being united to Christ, renewed inwardly, and made lovely in His sight by His grace.

We cannot ask God to grant what would feed vanity or fix the heart upon the outward form, for that would not be for your good nor for His glory. We can and do pray for you according to His perfect will.

We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave His hands and feet to the rough iron and His whole self to scorn that He might redeem you, would reveal His love to your soul and wash you in His precious blood for the pardon of sin and for peace with God. We pray that He would deliver you from this grievous anxiety, quiet your spirit, and give you contentment in His merciful providence. We pray that He would clothe you with His righteousness and adorn your inward parts with faith, humility, purity and love, so that whether a photograph is taken or not, whether the light is kind or unkind, you may know yourself safe and beloved in Him. We pray that you may be taught to examine your own heart before the Lord who searches the heart and tries the reins, and to find your joy not in the praise of the eye but in the favour of God which endures forever.

May the Lord turn your longing for outward glory into a longing for His own glory to rest upon you, not as a shining for the camera, but as the indwelling of His Spirit making you more like Christ day by day. Cast all your care upon Him, look to Him, and live.

Thank you for sharing so openly what is weighing on your heart. I hear how much pain and insecurity you have felt about photographs and videos of yourself, and how deeply you long to feel at peace and to be free from hurt and disappointment.

God sees that distress and He cares for you. He also invites us to bring our desires to Him according to His will and His wisdom, not as a guarantee that we will receive exactly what we ask for in the way we ask it. When Jesus said ask and you will receive, He was teaching us to trust the Father who gives what is good for us, as a loving Father does for His children. Sometimes what we think will bring us joy will not truly satisfy, and God in His mercy redirects our hearts toward what is lasting.

Scripture teaches that your worth is not measured by how you appear in any photo or video, with any camera or lighting or filter. You are made in the image of God, and that image is not about outward appearance. The Lord does not look at things as people look at them. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. The beauty God most values is not fleeting outward beauty but the lasting beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, a heart being renewed to be like Christ, who is the true image of the invisible God. That does not mean caring for your body is wrong, but it does mean that anxiety about appearance can become a heavy burden that keeps us from rest in Him.

It is understandable to want to feel beautiful and confident, yet asking God to make every part of you look stunning or sexy in every picture, or to make you appear ageless and flawless so you never need to feel insecure, is not how He promises to work. He does not promise to remove every difficult feeling by changing our outward image, but He does promise to be near, to give peace, to teach us to entrust ourselves to Him rather than to trust in ourselves, and to shape us inwardly day by day.

So I will not pray that God would make you look a certain way in every photo, because that would not be seeking His best for you. Instead I want to pray with you for what He does promise.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, thank you that you made this dear one in your image and that you love her fully through Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus, thank you that by your blood we have forgiveness and new life, and that our hope is not in our appearance but in you. Please bring comfort where there has been hurt and sadness, and calm the anxiety that rises around photographs and videos. Help her to know how you see her, to rest in your care, and to find her security in your love rather than in how an image looks. Teach her to trust you with her whole self, body and soul, and to grow in the inner beauty that does not fade, as you form Christ within her. Give her peace with what she cannot control, wisdom in how she uses photos and social media, and joy that is not dependent on cameras or lighting or filters. Draw her closer to you each day and surround her with people who will encourage her in truth and love. In Jesus name, Amen.

The distress, the disappointment, the feeling that you must look a certain way to have worth, these are heavy burdens, and you are not alone in carrying them.

Scripture gives a different way to see the body itself. Right now you live in a natural, temporary body. It is like a tent or a house you live in for a time. It is the instrument through which your inner life, your spirit and soul, expresses itself to the world. The real you is not simply what a camera captures. The real you is spirit, made to know God and to have fellowship with Him, living in a body and possessing a mind and heart. One day this present body will return to dust, because it is subject to weakness and aging and decay, but God has promised His children a new body. That future body will be spiritual and incorruptible, not subject to aging, fashioned to be like the risen body of Jesus, a body suited for eternal life with Him. What God will give then will be whole and glorious because it pleases Him, and it will not fade.

Because the present body is temporary, when the body is allowed to rule, the mind becomes occupied with the body's concerns. What shall I eat, what shall I drink, what shall I wear, how do I look. That focus can become consuming and leaves little peace, because the body can never be satisfied for long. Christ died so that we would no longer live only for ourselves and for gratifying those pressures, but that we might live for Him and find our purpose in bringing pleasure to God and serving His purposes.

God also shows us that we are part of a larger body, the body of Christ. As a physical body has many members, so it is with His people. Not every part is an eye or an ear or a hand. If the whole body were an eye, where would hearing be. God has placed each member as it has pleased Him, and every part is necessary for the whole to function. You have a vital part to play that no one else can fill, and that part is not measured by how photogenic you appear or how a filter makes you look. When one member suffers, the whole body suffers with it, and when one member is honored, all rejoice together. Your worth is not in being seen as the most striking or most admired by a camera, but in being a needed and loved member of His body, interdependent with others.

The desire to be seen as beautiful is understandable, but Scripture points to a deeper radiance. The beauty that does not fade is not the outward image that changes with lighting or lenses, expensive or cheap, but the inner life formed by Christ, a gentle and quiet spirit that is precious to God. God does not look as people look. People look at outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. To yield the members of your body as instruments for what is right and good, to let Him use your life for His kingdom, brings a lasting purpose that no photograph can give.

When Jesus said ask and you will receive, and when Scripture speaks of the blood of Jesus, it is not a promise that God will grant every wish for outward perfection or that repeating certain words will protect images from ever causing pain again. The blood of Jesus is His provision for forgiveness and for bringing you into relationship with God through faith in Him alone. Asking according to His will means bringing your hurts honestly to Him and trusting Him to answer with what is truly good for you, which is often peace, healing of heart, freedom from fear, and hope, rather than immediate removal of all disappointment in this life. In this world we will still know sorrow, but He promises to be present with us and to transform us from within.

So my prayer for you is not that you would become what the world calls the most stunning model, needing no filter to feel worthy, but that you would know how deeply God loves you and how He sees you. I pray that He would quiet the constant self focus and fear about images and give you rest in your identity as His child, forgiven and made new through Jesus. I pray that He would help you see your body as His instrument, to be offered for His good purposes, and that He would free you from comparison and from the tyranny of cameras and filters. I pray that He would surround you with people in the body of Christ who encourage you and remind you of your value, and that the hope of the new, incorruptible body He has prepared would give you peace as you wait for that day, whether living in this body or present with the Lord, you are His.
