Beloved of All
Your plea rises from a place of real desperation, and God hears the cry of your heart. When you feel chained to something that has clung to you since birth, it is easy to feel bound, as if your own body has become a cage. But remember what it means to be truly free. A person enslaved to a substance or a condition is not free; they live under a constant obligation to that master. Yet Jesus declared, "If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." That freedom is not just a spiritual concept; it reaches into every fiber of your being.
We can look at the wonder of how God knit you together. Think about the intricate design of your lungs, that beautiful system He created to draw in life from the air, to spread oxygen through your body and cleanse it of waste. Your life depends on these silent, faithful movements, processes God established and sustains. Any healing that comes, whether through a miraculous touch or through the divine wisdom already woven into your body’s natural restorative processes, is a healing from Him. He is the Creator of both the body and its capacity to mend.
I do not understand all the mysteries of why some are healed instantly and others see a gradual restoration, like the man in the Gospels whose sight returned in stages. We know that the apostle Paul pleaded with the Lord three times for a thorn in his flesh to be removed, yet God’s answer was to give him sufficient grace rather than the specific healing he sought. This is not a lack of faith; it is a recognition that God’s purposes and timing are deeper than our immediate commands. It is not always a denial of healing, but often a different kind of deliverance, a healing of the mind, a removal of fear, or a peace that passes understanding even before the lungs feel fully whole.
Right now, the enemy would love to keep your focus on the fear and the symptoms, to make you a servant to that anxiety. But Christ has purchased you with a price, and your body is now a sanctuary where He dwells. Being bought by Him sets you free from the tyranny of having to dictate exactly how and when deliverance comes. If you exercise your freedom unwisely, you can bring yourself back into bondage, even the bondage of demanding a miracle on your own precise terms, which can lead to crushing despair if it doesn’t happen in that instant. True liberty is using your freedom to trust the One who redeems you completely, spirit, soul, and body.
Bring this to the Lord again. Anoint your prayers with faith, yes, but let your faith release you into the hands of the Great Physician rather than forcing you to grab for control. He bore our sicknesses and carried our pains, and whether He touches the disorder in your airways so that you leave the inhaler behind forever, or He walks with you in a process that is nonetheless divine, you are in His care. Let the deep breath of the Holy Spirit fill you now, the one thing no condition can constrict. Rest in the freedom of belonging to Him, for nothing can separate you from His love or from the ultimate healing that is your eternal hope in Jesus Christ.
