We come before the Lord with a heavy heart, recognizing the deep longing in this prayer for unity, love, and devotion in marriage. While the desire for a strong, God-honoring marriage is beautiful, we must first address some concerns in this request that do not align with biblical principles.

First, we notice an excessive focus on controlling another person’s emotions, desires, and even their spiritual walk. Scripture warns us against manipulating or seeking to dominate others, even in marriage. **Proverbs 3:5-6** tells us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* We cannot force someone’s heart to change—only God can do that. Our prayers should seek His will, not our own demands.

Second, the prayer references covering your husband and marriage with the blood of Jesus, which is biblical, but it is coupled with an almost magical view of prayer—assuming that if we just say the right words or pray fervently enough, God *must* answer in the exact way we demand. **James 4:3** warns, *"You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures."* Prayer is not about bending God to our will but aligning our hearts with His.

Third, there is an unhealthy fixation on making your husband *need* you in every way—emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Marriage is a partnership of mutual love and respect, not dependency or possession. **Ephesians 5:25** instructs husbands to love their wives *"just as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it."* Love is sacrificial, not self-seeking.

We must also address the mention of Jesus’ name being used repeatedly, yet the prayer seems more focused on personal desires than on glorifying God. **Colossians 3:17** reminds us, *"Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him."* If we pray in Jesus’ name, our requests should reflect His character and will.

Now, let us pray with a heart aligned to God’s Word:

*Heavenly Father, we come before You with humility, lifting up this marriage to You. Lord, we ask that You would draw both this wife and her husband closer to You. Soften their hearts to seek You above all else. If this marriage is not yet built on Christ, we pray for salvation—for both to know You as Lord and Savior. If it is already founded on You, we ask for unity, love, and mutual respect to grow stronger each day.*

*Father, we rebuke any spirit of control, manipulation, or unhealthy dependency in this relationship. Replace it with Your peace, Your wisdom, and Your selfless love. We encourage you to shift your focus from demanding specific outcomes to seeking God’s will. **1 John 5:14-15** assures us, *"This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him."* Instead of praying for your husband to be obsessed with you, pray for him to be obsessed with Christ. Instead of praying for control, pray for surrender. God’s plans are greater than ours, and His love is more than enough.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
