Words with Young Men
Prioritize your soul, body, and mind to build a life that honors God and prepares you for eternity.
We hear your urgent cry and we join with you before the Lord in Jesus name, bringing your distress about your skin and your desire to be renewed and healed to our Heavenly Father who cares deeply for you.

We understand how heavy it can feel to be consumed by concerns about appearance, and how painful it is when you look in the mirror and feel discouraged, tired, and anxious about every mark, line, spot and imperfection. We want to gently remind you of how God sees you and what He says about true beauty and worth. For we read in 1 Samuel 16:7 that man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart, and in Psalm 139:14 that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, your works are wonderful, my soul knows it very well. Your value before God is not measured by flawless skin or youthful glow, but by being His beloved creation made in His image and redeemed through Christ.

We also hear in your prayer a deep anxiety and a demand for immediate and total perfection with no delay. Scripture encourages us to bring all our requests to God, but also to do so with trust and surrender to His perfect will and timing. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And 1 Peter 3:3-4 reminds us Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning but the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God very precious. We lovingly rebuke the spirit of anxiety and obsession over outward appearance that can steal your peace and make you feel that you must be outwardly flawless to be loved or worthy. God already loves you completely and calls you to rest in Him.

This does not mean we will not pray for your healing. God does care about your body and your suffering, and He invites you to ask Him for healing and restoration according to His will. We also encourage you to be a good steward of the body God has given you, caring for your skin with gentleness, rest, hydration, nourishment, and seeking wise medical counsel if needed, trusting that God often works through these practical means as well as through His miraculous power.

So we pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, thanking you that we have access to your throne of grace through Him alone. We lift up this dear one to you who is hurting and anxious about every concern with their face and skin and body. Lord, you know every detail, every blemish and scar and worry that weighs on their heart. We ask first for your peace to guard their heart and mind, to calm the urgency and fear, and to help them to know deeply that they are fearfully and wonderfully made and loved by you. We pray for healing and restoration of their skin according to your perfect will, that you would bring health, comfort and wholeness where there is distress, sensitivity and irritation. We ask that you would help them to see themselves as you see them, and to find their identity and confidence not in outward perfection but in Christ. Grant them a gentle and quiet spirit and a renewed focus on the inner beauty that is precious in your sight. Help them to trust your timing and your goodness, even when the answer is not instant, and to seek first your Kingdom and your righteousness knowing that you will provide what is needed. Matthew 6:33. We ask that you would deliver them from obsessive worry and from the burden of feeling they must be flawless to be acceptable, and fill them with your joy and assurance. We pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, trusting in your love and your perfect will. Amen.

We hear the urgency in your request and how much you want to feel at ease and refreshed when you look in the mirror. Carrying such close attention to every mark, texture and change in your skin can be exhausting, and we understand the longing to feel brand new and at peace in your own body.

We want to gently offer perspective alongside our prayers. Your worth is not measured by having flawless skin. When our thoughts fix on every detail we wish we could change, it often leaves us feeling more tired and discouraged, even while we are trying to feel more confident. A steadier sense of value tends to grow not from achieving a perfect appearance, but from living in the identity and purpose God has already given you, which no skin concern can take away.

If these concerns are weighing heavily on you or causing physical discomfort, it can be a helpful next step to share them with a trusted medical professional such as your primary care doctor or dermatologist, alongside continuing to bring them to the Lord in prayer. It can also bring relief to talk openly with someone you trust about how this burden feels day to day.

Father, we lift them to You and thank You that You see and care for them fully. Calm the urgency and weariness they feel, remind them of their deep value in Your eyes, and give wisdom for any care they seek. Fill them with Your peace and kindness today. In Jesus' name, amen.

The earnestness of your cry has been heard, and I perceive how deeply this burden concerning your body has pressed upon your mind. You have asked with great urgency for a perfect and immediate change in your face and skin, and that you might be made brand new, youthful and glowing without delay.

Let me speak to you as a friend and pastor concerning that which weighs upon you, for your anxiety itself has become a heavier affliction than the marks which trouble you. Our Lord Jesus said, Neither be you of a doubtful mind, and He bids us see to the condition of our mind. Many persons think a great deal about the adorning of the body, but do not think anything about the ornaments of the soul. Yet you yourself are better than your body, and all that you have, what is it compared with your inner self, your heart, your soul, your spirit. Have you not found that the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty.

Contentment is one of the flowers of heaven, and if we would have it, it must be cultivated, and that not by any stoic process of self government, but simply and exclusively by faith in the Son of God. Remember that a man's contentment is in his mind, not in the extent of his possessions, nor in the flawlessness of his countenance. Alexander with all the world at his feet cried for another world to conquer, to show that outward gain cannot quiet the heart.

There is healing, blessed healing, in Christ, and the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, but even His leaves, the little things about Him, are full of healing virtue. Yet observe how our Lord heals. When He saw the man taken with the palsy, He said first, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing were one. Jesus knew what really ailed the man, he was palsied in spirit as well as in body, and Christ removed the root of his disease by forgiving his sin.

So I would point you to that greater healing. Today the body is dead because of sin, though the spirit is life because of righteousness. The regeneration of the body takes place at the resurrection, when we shall rise again in the image of the Lord Jesus, sown in weakness, raised in power. Yonder in heaven those faces which look so bright and comely, fresher than newborn babes, owe their freshness to these healing leaves. Until then, we are taught to seek first the cleansing and adorning of the soul, trusting our bodies also to the wisdom and mercy of our heavenly Father who numbers the very hairs of our head.

I will pray with you, not as demanding that God must do instantly according to our prescription, but as submitting all our cares to His perfect will and fatherly goodness, believing that He withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly.

Let us pray. O Lord our God, look upon this anxious heart which has been tossed with many cares about the body. Forgive all sin, and speak peace to the soul through the blood of Jesus Christ Thy Son, who bore our sins in His own body on the cross. Grant a quiet and contented mind, cultivated by faith in Him, and deliver from the doubtful and restless spirit which unfits us for Thy service. Clothe the soul with the ornaments which Thou dost value, a meek and quiet spirit, holiness and love. We commit the body also to Thy tender care, Thou who hast made us. If it be Thy will, grant health and relief, and help to use all lawful means with thankfulness, but above all let Thy will be done, and let this dear one know that he is accepted in the Beloved, and kept in Thy love now and forever. Give grace to rest in Thy goodness, and to wait for that day when Thou shalt make all things new. In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and healer, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
