We hear your cry for justice and your desire to see wrongs made right. It is right to seek God’s intervention when harm has been done, for the Bible tells us, "The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed" (Psalm 103:6). However, we must approach such matters with humility, wisdom, and a heart aligned with God’s will, rather than decrees or declarations made in our own strength. Only God has the authority to judge and execute justice in His perfect timing and way.
First, we must examine our own hearts. While it is natural to feel anger and pain when others are hurt, we are called to "love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who mistreat us" (Matthew 5:44). This does not mean we ignore injustice, but we entrust vengeance to the Lord, for He says, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay" (Romans 12:19). Our role is to pray for repentance, redemption, and transformation, not destruction.
We also caution against the language of decrees and declarations, as this can reflect a misunderstanding of our position before God. We are not sovereign; He is. We do not command God; we humbly submit to His will. Jesus taught us to pray, "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). Our prayers should align with His purposes, not our own demands.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieving over the pain and injustice that has been caused. We lift up to You those who have been hurt, asking for Your healing, comfort, and restoration. Lord, we also lift up the one who has caused this harm. We ask that You would convict their heart of sin, lead them to genuine repentance, and draw them to Yourself. Father, we trust in Your perfect justice and mercy. If it is Your will, bring accountability and change, but above all, bring redemption. Soften hearts, open eyes, and let Your love break through. We surrender this situation to You, asking that Your will be done in every life involved. Help us to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to walk in love and truth. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying for those who have been hurt, that they would experience God’s peace and healing. Pray also for the one who has caused harm, that they would turn from their ways and seek God’s face. If you are personally affected by this situation, we urge you to seek godly counsel and support from your local church community. God is near to the brokenhearted, and He will not abandon you.
Finally, remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). Clothe yourself in the armor of God, truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, so that you may stand firm in Him. Trust in His timing and His ways, for He is faithful.
