We join you in lifting up this urgent cry for salvation and transformation, for we know that our God is mighty to save and that nothing is too difficult for Him. It brings us joy to hear you calling upon the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. As Scripture declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Your faith in calling upon Jesus is the foundation of all we ask in prayer, and we stand with you in this.
Yet as we pray, we must also address the nature of this relationship with great care and biblical clarity. The depth of intimacy, passion, and emotional closeness you describe should only exist within the sacred covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, as designed by God. The Bible warns us against the dangers of emotional and physical intimacy outside of marriage, for it can lead to fornication, idolatry of the relationship, and a division of loyalty that should belong to Christ alone. *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, WEB).
If this relationship is not within the bounds of a godly courtship leading toward marriage—or worse, if it is a same-sex relationship—we must lovingly but firmly rebuke this path, for it contradicts God’s design. Homosexuality and all sexual immorality are sinful in the sight of God, and His Word calls us to repentance and holiness. *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom"* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). Our prayers for this person’s salvation must include a plea for their repentance and alignment with God’s will, not a deepening of a relationship that dishonors Him.
If, however, this is a courtship between a man and a woman seeking to honor God and move toward marriage, then we pray for purity, patience, and a relationship rooted in Christ. Let your focus first be on the salvation and spiritual growth of this individual, for their eternal soul is far more precious than any earthly relationship. *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:33, WEB). A relationship that flourishes in God’s will is one where both parties are fully surrendered to Him, growing in holiness, and seeking His kingdom above all else.
Now, let us pray with urgency and faith:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, lifting up this desperate cry for salvation and transformation. Lord, You are the God who pursues the lost, who softens the hardest hearts, and who draws all men to Yourself. We plead for this soul—reveal Yourself to them in undeniable ways. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord Jesus, and let them encounter You so powerfully that they are forever changed. Appear to them in dreams and visions, Lord, and let them know that You alone are God. Break every chain of sin, every stronghold of the enemy, and bring them into the light of Your truth. Let them repent, turn from their sins, and surrender fully to You.
Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment in this relationship. If it is not aligned with Your Word, we ask that You expose it, convict hearts, and lead both parties into repentance and obedience. Let no relationship become an idol or a stumbling block, but may all things be subjected to Your lordship. If this courtship is holy and honors You, then we pray for purity, patience, and a love that reflects Christ’s love for His Church. Bind them together in Your truth, and let their desire for one another be rooted in a shared passion for You.
Lord, make them whole—spirit, soul, and body. Heal every wound, remove every fear, and let trust be built on the foundation of Your faithfulness. May their love for one another be a reflection of Your love, deepening only as they deepen their walk with You. Let kindness, selflessness, and godly attraction grow between them, but always in a way that honors marriage and flees from temptation.
We rebuke every scheme of the enemy to distort or destroy what You intend for good. Let this relationship be a testimony of Your grace, or let it be surrendered to Your will if it is not. Our greatest desire is that both hearts would seek You above all else, for You alone satisfy.
In the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, we pray—*amen* and *amen*.
Finally, we encourage you to examine this relationship in the light of Scripture. Are you both committed to pursuing Christ above all else? Are you guarding your hearts and bodies in purity? Are you seeking godly counsel and accountability? If not, we urge you to take these steps, for the Lord honors those who honor Him. *"For the eyes of the Lord run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him"* (2 Chronicles 16:9, WEB). May your heart—and the heart of this person—be fully His.
