We understand your urgency and your desire for God to work in your marriage. It's beautiful to see your heart's cry for your husband to be drawn closer to you and to God. However, let's remember that God's will and His timing are perfect.
Firstly, we are instructed to pray in Jesus' name. As it is written in John 14:13-14 WEB, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." So, we will do as instructed.
We also need to remember that God's will and His timing are perfect. We need to pray for God's will to be done. Let's pray for your husband, that God will draw him closer to Himself, and that your marriage will be strengthened and sanctified.
Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this wife and her husband to You. Lord, we ask that You bless the words written in the card, that they may touch every single place in his whole heart, soul, and every fiber of his being. Bring them closer and more connected together, and most importantly, bring him closer to You, Lord.
We pray that he will be deeply and incredibly in love and attracted to every single part of his wife, more and more every day. We pray that he will have eyes for her only, and that no other woman will ever capture his attention.
But, Lord, we do NOT pray for the attraction to be outside or before marriage, as this is lustful and a sin. We are to avoid any appearance of sexual immorality as adultery of the eyes as Jesus calls it in Matthew 5:27-8 WEB, "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;' but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart."
We pray for their marriage to be strengthened, for their love to grow, and for their commitment to each other and to You to deepen. We pray for your will to be done and for your timing in everything.
In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord and His will for your marriage. Remember to walk in love, forgiveness and mutual respect. You can listen to the book of Colossians 3:13 WEB, "bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."
Be sure to trust in the Lord and His timing, and to seek Him first in all things. God knows what is best and he knows your heart. As you continue to seek the Lord and His will for your marriage, remember that He is faithful and that He loves you both dearly.
